I'm brave! I'll say it! This is a pretty great fig! Except for one big glaring thing that y’all know I’m not a fan of…
Base-coat inks! *crowd booing*
Anywhere you see green on this figure, it’s a base coating of lime green that could have just been lime green plastic!
The hands in particular are really frustrating because if she was to hold anything, there’s the high likelihood that ink will get removed or chipped. They’re also not even official Lego hands, so that tells you something about where LB cut corners to save on cost... to instead coat everything in green.
To be fair, maybe it wasn't possible for LB to get a hold of 105 unprinted lime green heads and hands? Perhaps the concept of custom designed legs meant color matching to lime green would have been more difficult?
Idk… but it just bugs me that over time, that matte paint will rub, fade, or even chip away, as well as the ink applied on top of it. You can already see it happening on the lips of the neutral face, and this fig is brand new!
Thankfully the green is a close enough match to the official Lime Green that I can at the very least swap out certain parts to preserve them a little longer :)
Now as far as the rest of the print goes, LB brings some of the highest quality in the game! I wouldn’t expect anything less than perfect from them! Especially in their pattern work! Wow! Great stuff!
The fig design overall is a really strong adaptation on She-Hulk from the show! Although I’m struggling a little with those facial designs. The neutral expression is a bit too neutral, while the angry head is a little too much.
I think maybe it’s the colored eyes that are bugging me too…?
It’s a neat idea, but every time a designer does it, it just looks weird! It’s almost like the black around the iris isn't thick enough, or the color isn’t prominent enough or whatever…
...maybe it's just me?
As for parts, the hair is cool! It’s a good length, but the color is a bit dark.
When it comes to the type of plastic they used, you can tell this wasn’t inked/painted over at all. The actual plastic is what we're seeing here. In certain lights, you can even see that the tips are slightly transparent.
Also (and this is probably just my personal taste) the strands in the back feel a bit too scraggly and busy. Like LB could have thickened them or reduced the number of strands, or hell, just blended them together more towards the top of the head.
It’s also worth pointing out that the hair is hella loose on heads that don’t have a layer of green paint coated over them.
It goes both ways too of course, because the official She-Hulk hair won’t fit on the LB head. I’m sure I could make it fit on there… but then it goes back to the old adage of “chipping and scratching”
Now the legs are probably the most interesting thing here to me. They’ve got about an extra half-plate of height to them and are really tight to the hip piece.
It’s interesting how LB pulled off this subtle change to not make it look too funky. There’s only a little bit of added height in the toes, and some subtle stretching in the length of the legs that all together adds a bit of height.
Frankly I was hoping it would have been a little more drastic of a size difference, sort of how the original preorder renders made it look
Also I didn't talk about it much, but the green here in the preorder render doesn't match the green we acctually got on the final fig... I wonder what that's all about...
🤨
But what we still get here is neat!
For my first custom She-Hulk fig I’ve reviewed, it sets the bar to come! Even the price was reasonable at around $100! But how will Jin’s, PBC’s, or Jaka’s compare? (yes I’m a maniac and ordered all of them)
We shall see all in good time…
