LifeBrick's MCU Namor (Patreon)
Content
LifeBrick has done it again! They’ve made another custom minifig! Good for them!
And can you believe it, I’ve also done it again! I’ve spent more money to review another figure so you don’t have to!
:|
I don’t financially regret my decisions, who told you that!?
Let’s just get to it and take a look at more Fantastic Four adjacent MCU characters that have popped up in the MCU before the Fantastic Four have even shown up yet!
LB really captured the finer details of the MCU Namor with flying colors! It looks incredible on close inspection, but also looks good in most minifig lineups! They could have been weird and added a nose but they didn’t! They could have added toes and they didn’t! They could've even added nipples and they…
Oh… they added nipples…
Right okay but besides that, they really nailed the look of this guy!
I mean the colors alone are so sharp! The two different greens, the pearl whites and blues in the adornment, and the gold! Oh my gosh the gold looks good! Not to mention that LifeBrick is again taking on new unprinted places in the custom fig community, like the tops of the shoulders and feet!
How’d they even do that so cleanly?! That’s crazy! And here I thought their MCU Spider-Men were impressive!
But while I could go in circles about “Look at this bit! I love this bit”, we gotta talk about the parts! The paaaaarts!
The spear is really really really cool! The blue obsidian looking adamantium tip is so bright and shiny! There’s only a little bit of ink bleeding from the two drum lacquer’d colors as it transitions from the silvery-blue to the shiny gold that matches the fig beautifully! Even the green is clean too at this scale!
However the most impressive thing to me is the indentations and 3D design work that went into producing this piece. The drum lacquer doesn't fill the indentations and the shaping doesn't lose its detail!
I mean just look at how sharp that Aztecan sea creature looks on the blunt end of the piece! Just incredible stuff!
The hairpiece is neat! Though the ears are a tiny bit off in color. One of the few flaws that I can really find on this entire fig. However the shaping is still nice! Oh and get this! The shiny green on the ear jewelry is a result of the element being transparent?!
WHAT?! That’s rad!!
Little bit of a downside to that concept though; When you have a strong light behind it you can see through it just a teeeeeeeny tiny bit. It’s not very noticeable most of the time unless it’s separated from the head like in the review photos of course. However, it's still a really cool concept! Minus the ear color, LB absolutely nailed the execution!
And finally the ankle wings are super clever too! All thanks to some little itty bitty mini magnets on the insides of the legs that let you pose, pivot, or fully remove the parts for posing and flying!
Those magnets however do hinder a stud connection to the bottom of the feet. They are fully fused (glued) to the inside of the legs so it’s a bit of a bummer you can’t interchange them with other Namor’s or build a custom Mercury or something like that
However it makes a hell of a lot of sense that they’re fused because then it guarantees you’ll always have the same height on both ankles every single time. No slippin’ around, no messy alignments! It’s honestly a good call in the end.
Speaking of which, here he is next to my figbarfed Comic Namor using Brick Warrior wings
Now… after alllll of these bells and whistles, I’m gonna be real with you guys. I'm shocked! I didn’t think this fig would have brought so much to the table! I just planned to tack it on at the end of this week's MCU figs, but talk about a home run to end the series!
$127 all together, and while I’m very poor after all these figs, this was well worth the price tag!
