ZoomDesign's Peter Parker (Patreon)

Now for something a little different! It’s Peter Parker! (the mean version!)

This is my first ZoomDesign fig and I am impressed! ZD takes a bit of design liberty, but did a decent job with what they were trying to accomplish here. For $60, it’s a solid fig. Nothing to sing home about or shout from the tree tops, but it’s good! Not to mention that there’s no weird blank spots of print that shouldn’t be there!

(can you tell I’m still bitter?)

It came with this interesting 4x6 UV Printed tile poster thing. I’m not sure what context I’ll ever use it, but it’s an interesting inclusion! It’s also interesting to note just how few of these were made! According to the other UV printed tile included! Only 32!

(of course my OCD wants them to have either done three more or two less, but that’s beside the point)

The custom parts included are competently made! I quite like the little extra collar piece included! It feels fragile though, like I’m gonna accidentally snap those two pointed tips if I pull it off a fig incorrectly. But it really adds a lot to the look of fig! One little teeny tiny piece, changes the whole vibe!

The hair is also pretty nice! It’s not as screen accurate as LifeBrick’s that we just took a look at, but it’s still nicely shaped and well made! It’s a bit dark though; much closer to black than the intended dark brown.

He uh… he kinda looks like a Beatle, doesn't he?

The bonus Venom head looks more like a luchador mask than the Venom Symbiote Suit. The colors are a bit flat, but again competently printed and well produced! (it’s just comparisons, but coming off of those two LifeBrick figs, my judgment is a little jaded)

My favorite aspect of this fig is definitely the cheeky smarmy grin on the back of the main head. There’s something just under the surface, like he’s gotta tell you gossip about Eddie Brock or something naughty like that. It’s such a unique facial expression that I don’t have in the collection and I love it :P

However, those other faces aren’t perfect. The neutral Peter face is a bit too kawaii with the cat lips and the wide eyebrows. All while the Venom head looks less scary, and more like it just told you a joke as is waiting for you to laugh at the punchline.

Honestly I picked this up as a compliment/companion fig to shoot with the LifeBrick’s spidey parts…

And hey, it doesn't look too shabby! In fact it's not that bad!

I’ll be curious to see what ZoomDesign releases next! Their price point and pre-order wait were both pretty decent, so I’ll be keeping an eye on them for sure!

;)
