L1N6 Minifigure's Sabertooth! (Patreon)

Ya know that meme, the one where you order something online and when it arrives it’s nothing like the thing you ordered. Yeah that’s how I feel about this fig.

Sure, I feel like L1N6 had the right idea here… but the execution of this one… oof… this is why I hate preorders man…

The early renders didn’t really show how much height that hair was gonna have or how bright inks would be used for the musculature… seriously, what went wrong here L1N6?

Uh… I like… that it’s uh… that it’s Sabertooth! I like having more comic accurate classic marvel figs from L1N6… I like the fuzzy collar piece (even if it looks a bit more like a feather boa…)

Okay but that can’t seriously be the only thing I like about this fig? Just the collar piece?

I really do enjoy the layering for the collar. It’s got a really strong and well defined mold. But the same really can’t be said about the hair though. There’s too much height, and the entire thing looks more like funky pasta coming out of his head. It’s a ton of unnecessary sectional strands, giving off the look of dreadlocks more than fuzzy beast-like hair.

Not to mention it pairs terribly with the print.

The face feels too small on the head. The mouth is tiny and the eyes are too close together. Which from a design perspective means that L1N6 could have just taken the time to… idk, flatten the eyebrow shape? Raise/widen the entire face to fit the plastic head better?

But the final result is not good.

*sigh* 😔

$78 for this fig and it wasn’t worth my time. It’s a shame too because ironically Jin/MrJBrick’s Sabertooth was released only a week later and we had no idea (don’t worry, we’ll talk about that fig tomorrow!)

I guess that’s what I get for jumping the gun 🤷🏻‍♂️
