Hey cool! More X-Men! And finally a half decent Gambit!

A Gambit that I feel I’ve seen somewhere before… like in a dream…

This fig has a lot of similarities to other brands and designs. For one thing, I find it interesting how this fig’s torso design has the hints of PCB’s old Gambit fig from the 2010s. The abdomen section in particular is very similar. Oddly enough, the extra layer of pink highlights were not part of the original preorder render for this fig (they’re also missing from the render on the clamshell!) I wonder why that last minute addition was made 🤔

Even the second head print with the cigarette makes me think of the recently reviewed LightCustoms Constantine. 

Frankly, I would have liked to have gotten a smirky/cocky smile instead of the cigarette face. Or hell, even an action expression printed on the Jin-style balljoint head, instead of such a similar neutral face.

Oh hey! The balljoint head is also another idea from a brand that isn’t original to YAFD/Leon! Man, this fig is full of borrowed bells and whistles! But I still have to give it a little slack! There are however some original ideas here, mainly in the custom parts like those hands! I love those hands!

The bowstaff is really cool and shiny! Much more snazzy than just including a standard bar element! The shine is bright, and the subtle indents raise the quality just a smidge.

The hair is rad! It’s so 90s and so Jim Lee esque with that height! It’s got a really cool flow that you can pose it in either direction on the head and it still looks good!

The deck of cards are also really neat! It’s a very tiny element with a secondary mold of trans-pink over the white plastic… makes me wonder if it’s removable with a little elbow grease…?

And then of course there’s the coat! It’s really really cool, but has some limitations that I’ll talk about in a second. I love the tall collar and all the molded indentations rather than opting for printing the details. I also really like how it flows out and away from the torso and legs!

But (naturally) it hinders the possibility...

…but uh… I’m sure you’ve all noticed that I didn’t remove the coat.

I was hoping the arms were going to be connected with magnets or something akin to Jin’s recent Comics Spider-Man, holding the arms in place. But no, they are so damn tight to the shoulder sockets that I could barely turn them in place, let alone (possibly) break them trying to remove the things just to get a few review shots of the back of the torso.

I really wanted to see what the coat would’ve looked like on a figbarfed BTAS Commissioner Gordon… but I guess that won’t be happening anytime soon 🤷🏻‍♂️

Also also, before I forget, there was a bit of contention about the boot color that frankly dosen’t bug me at all. Yes, a more purple-ish blue color would have been nice, but the silver is also fine. Same with the colored eyes. It’s weird, sure, but they don’t bug me like they bugged some people.

All in all, $102! Not too shabby for all the stuff ya get here! Good stuff all around!
