KO/Diamond x YAFD/Leon! (Patreon)

Ya’ll know we’d be comparing these two eventually, so let’s jump into it! 

The more I look back on this KO/Diamond collab fig, the more I find that their own design styles clash too much. Not to mention the strange design choices that took place to get the final fig we received back in July. 

But for comparison’s sake that fig was still good for it’s time. Certainly it’s custom parts are what really shone through and made the purchase worth your time! But looking at the two side by side, these two minifigures are night and day!

I remember talking about it when I reviewed KO/Diamond’s fig (and I truly feel like I’m beating the dead horse here) it’s neither one of their best works, and I think it may have been the collaboration itself that killed that fig. Those two designers have very different ideas and styles that clearly clashed in the final product… mainly that skirt coat thing going on…

On the other hand YAFD/Leon really brought a sense of depth to their fig that KO/Diamond was desperately lacking. There’s a clear and present care for the details on this newer fig that goes well beyond the earlier fig. It’s almost cruel to compare them side by side.

But what KO/Diamond lacked in print, the custom cards and hands and all really still made the fig a collectors item for folks that like funky parts like me! :)

Because let’s face it! At the end of the day, the figbarfs are the most fun! :)
