SJB has done it again! And just like KO of the US, SJB of the UK had no preorder wait, simplified shipping, and fantastic prices! We love to see it!

I also love the custom printed bags! It’s so 70s DC with that checkerboard pattern! And it’s a product approved by the Comics Code Authority! Haha! :P But the figs! You’re all here for the figs! Let’s start with chatting about Batman!

It’s a simple three(?) custom printed pieces, with some unprinted legs, a cape, and a 2x2 tile! But what little SJB brings to the table is nothing short of quality!

The printed black on blue bat cowl is a thing of beauty! I’ve been asking the universe for one for years now and somebody finally delivered! It’s as perfect as I could have ever asked for! It’s certainly an element that feels like Lego themselves should have printed decades ago, but in the end, it’s all thanks to the custom minifig community for finally pulling through!

The torso is also nice! It takes a minor departure from the standard muscle design, but elevates Lego’s own official torso with some nice and shiny gold print for the belt! I like them both in their own unique ways, but it’s still fun to compare the two!

As for the head… if I didn’t know any better, I’d think it’s an official Lego print. The design is certainly, but the quality of the application is far above Lego’s own mass production printing. The black is crisp, and the white is bright and opaque. 

(but also as a disclaimer, it might actually be an official Lego printed head and I’m fully making assumptions here to fill more text in this silly little internet post so ya'll find the content more engaging)

Anyway! Superman here is also just as impressive, if nothing else than for breaking new ground in color (again, something you’d think Lego themselves would have done years ago!

Y’all remember a few months back when I was saying I wished for different shades of blue for Superman? Well SJB actually did it! Woo!

This is another fig that looks like it could have come from an official set of some alternate timeline! It’s a fantastic and simplistic design that matches well with the slightly curvier linework of the recent Official Lego Superhero figs. Particularly with that subtly up-turned belt, not so straight and rigid as the official torso (or even Hades' recent torsos!)

There’s some nice contrasting blue ink used for the musculature that isn’t too dark, however the yellow and red do feel a bit faint. So I guess depending on who you ask, that could be a good or bad thing… the faint colors are more in line with Lego’s own poor print opacity the last few years.

But as a custom collector like myself it’s a slight gripe.

Otherwise the head print is also nice! No secondary face though…

However I’ve got to keep reminding myself of the amazing one-two punch that comes out of SJBricks! Since I’ve been collecting their figs, there hasn’t been a single preorder, nor a fig priced over $75!

These two figs were just $30 each AND they took less than a month to get to me (from the UK to US)! That’s honestly the best praise I can give for these two! Simple figs sure, but fantastic timeframes and prices given their quality (which again isn’t that bad when you think about it)!

So good stuff all around! We love to see a good SJB fig! I just wish they didn’t drop such limited quantities! They sell out SO fast! 👀
