Now isn’t this a treat!

We haven’t seen a custom Red Tornado fig pop up in the custom market in close to a decade! And (if my memory is still intact) this is the very first custom pad printed Red Tornado! Oooo! Snazzy! ✨

I mean just look at this fig next to the now ancient EclipseGrafx Young Justice variant!

Time sure flies, huh!

Now we all know by now that MrJBrick rarely disappoints me and (shocker) they still haven’t! This fig rocks! From graphic design, to parts quality, to price! Even he preorder timeframe was also a bit shorter than average!

The design fits really really well with official Lego DC figs (other than the modified cape I suppose). But looking at it from a print perspective, the musculature isn’t over done, the black ink doesn't overpower the dark red and neither clash with each other!

The yellow is a tiiiiiny bit faint. You can mostly notice it next to the hands and hip plastic

But all in all, the print quality gets a green check mark from me! ✅

As for the custom parts! The cape is really fun! It’s shaping is a close recreation of the Official Lego soft rubber “Doctor Strange” cape, only in this context, MrJ has molded the element in a much harder material. The extension of the collar, plus the printed red around the borders really elevates the value of the piece!

However, a part of my brain wants it accented with yellow instead of red, but after looking through source material, it seems that the colorists at DC haven’t really made a solid decision either in the fifty-some years the character has been around!

The red certainly is a bit more old school, while the yellow is a bit more of the modern color choice. In fact the art on the collectors card has the yellow borders so… who’s to say! 🤷🏻‍♂️

As for the last of the custom parts, we gotta talk about the red spinny-windy bits!

They require you to own some of the bar-to-stud adapter pieces that were not included with the packaged fig. Not a big deal though for most of us, but something to make a note of. They both have this neat sort of leaning shape to them that I love! They’re not perfectly symmetrical or cone-like. They’re a bit more organic looking! I’d love to get some blue ones for a Hydro Man!

Come to think of it, they also would work well for The Flash when he does that thing with his arms…

All in all, $65 for this fig and I couldn’t be happier with the final product! Now if only somebody would make Ma Hunkel! 🤞🏻🤣
