I agree. Happy that Kangmin is 7 as he’s my fave but Junmin and Donggyu are ranked sooo low 😢. And I want He Xin Long in the top 8 as well. I guess the strong Alpha energy team I was envisioning isn’t what others are. Everyone has their own preferences but the talent that is ranked so low is 😭. Eunwoos in the military til Jan 2027 and I need another group to stan - I’m crossing my fingers for my faves. Thanks for reacting so quickly - so fun watching this with you ☺️

Here’s my Top 8: 1) Leo 2) Woojin 3) Geonwoo 4) Haneum 5) Harry June 6) Sangwon 7) Anxin 8) Hengyu or Chen Bowen I can’t choose lol. Honestly this Top 8 isn’t bad. I would still stan. But I at least need Woojin and Haneum that’ll be great, their vocals are amazing. And Geonwoo. Also very sad about Song Minjae being eliminated, I voted for him everyday since that S class performance, but I cried tears for Harry June. I also see why people are hesitant towards Liyu, but I found some videos of his singing predebut, and I was shocked. Like jaw dropped shocked. I don't know what the song was called but it was a low to mid register and he sounded really good! His pitch was very consistent and his tone in lower notes was very rich. I couldn't believe what I was watching lol

Shun Yu spilled the tea behind the scene as the dance battle came up, Xin Long wanted to do the dance battle but mnet didn't allowed it, they only picked K Trainees and no C trainees at all, can tell that behind the scenes a lot of things happens. Also he's voting for Kai Wen, Xin Long, Axin, Jiahao, Zihao. Tbh still want Masato to get out of the top8 and Li Yu too. Masato is soo overrated he might be talented and skilled for sure, but that's just like what I feel about Geonwoo, there is nothing special about him, and they comment only about his looks, his performance was also mid. Li Yu still needs to improve! I want Woojin and Xin Long to be in TOP8 then the final lineup is completed, if the rumor is true and we are getting idk a 9th member. Then I hope it will be Jun Min, Donggyu, Hengyu, Fan Zhe Yi, Nian. Dont mind it if the 9th member is Li Yu. Such a shame that Jun Min and Donggyu are so low.. just like Leo and the other Trainees said they are shocked that Jun Min is soo low, because hes very talented and two star doesn't suits him at all, maybe who knows now he might turn the tables and can be in the top8?hes also a former BigHit trainee, Leejeong also a Pledis Trainee, Donggyu was also in Pledis, Sanghyeon another trainee who was under HYBE, Jaehyun (2010, kid) was also HYBE Trainee + Haneum rank 12 guy is also a HYBE Trainee oh and not to forget Geonwoo was under Source Music. Hope Xin Long makes it to the top8 and I've a feeling that he might debut! His fans base keeps growing. In the teaser there was a dance battle between harry June and Jiangfan I think, but they didn’t air it !! I’m so mad Also Hanwen has a pretty strong fanbase and was really popular preshow, he was high in ranks since the first episode I don’t really know why people are expecting him to not make through first elims/be low in ranks, it’s not surprising lol

this is sooooo annoying! mnet is not even trying. from mistreating c trainees to poor production choice… like why the fun activities are so short and so trying to be clean and straight 👀 like its so annoying that they are really pushing a certain imagine for this debuting group, and I’m not here for it. this is really been mnet’s worst survival show. like how they’re doing things are just wrong.

mnet be pushing an “alpha” team but no Donggyu and Junmin and Xinlong in the top😑, Liyu, Masato and Sanghyeon don’t have that “alpha” aura I’m sorry😬.. this is not even about “oh focus on ur pick”, it’s about producing a svs group that is on par with ZB1, WannaOne level- balanced and all rounder team.. if we want them to gain attention even after the show- I want to see posts where other group’s fans were switching up to watch BP1 and eventually to ZB1.. BP2 just isn’t gaining that much even though they get “high” votes LOL

Then why are you still watching? You’re allowed to feel how you feel but I strongly disagree we have a lot of great talents in Top 8 and despite intl fans bitterness, this group will not flop. They will be close if not just as popular as ZB1. Sangwon alone has to be the most popular trainee in any survival show.

This group will be extremely popular. Sangwon and Leo alone will bring in views, add in Masato for Japanese market, Liyu for Korea, Anxin for China, etc. and we’re good. As much as intl fans think or want this group to flop, they absolutely will not.

From what I’ve seen of Korean media, alpha seems to mean “top, best, first, etc.” rather than manly or macho (which is only the case in specific media genres). As for the talented trainees that just don’t get many votes, it’s probably because their looks are not what’s currently popular with the majority of voters? Since there are other trainees with similar talents but “better” looks… It’s unfortunate but the votes do foreshadow what will sell well. This industry is ultimately driven by the consumers, no? Mnet does whatever past statistics show will bring in the views and the cash.

I saw that on some sites that Koreans use (instiz is one of them), some trainees like xinlong and I believe hengyu as well are some of Koreans 1 pick apparently! (I think xinlong is actually trending like number 6th on that site, and has been for a large amount of time) That makes me hopeful that by the next ranking check point, the top 8-10 will be much better hopefully😭 Like don't get me wrong, I have nothing against certain trainees who are in the top 8 atm. But considering the image mnet seems to be wanting to push for the final group, there are other trainees who would better suit the top 8. Some people keep saying that it'll be fine, these trainee's will grow in the group or whatever, but what they don't realize is that they will get no lines... I actually saw on Weibo that some of the eliminated c trainees were talking about how some c trainees volunteered for the dance battle segment, but they weren't picked/shown (minus suren). Cause I heard that Jiang fan win against someone, one of the chinese 1 star kill the Romeo trainee won against a pick that mnet apparently must've liked, but he wasn't shown, xinlong volunteered but wasn't picked apparently...😭 Sighhh When doheon (verivery 's leader, and the eldest in boys 2 planet) got eliminated, I legit teared up. I was also watching verivery's 00 line reacting to the Livestream as well, and that didn't help... I also teared up when heuichan asked everyone to take care of Harry.... Like AKSK 😭 I didn't know that Harry was the youngest in dkb, so that just hit me so much harder I hate that we're only allowed to vote for 5 trainees now😩 like I obviously knew it was gonna happen though. I've been voting for xinlong, anxin, donggyu, boheng, and suren. I just need at least some c trainees in the finale, which is why I'm only voting for c trainees for now😭 and then donggyu is so low, I have to vote for him, like arghf. And then I'll definitely be swapping out some trainee's every once in a while, like chen kaiwen, jiahao, zihao, etc!

I heard that people have the theory that mnet might pull an "i-land" situation on us, where the mentors pick an additional member potentially.... If that happens, I'll be really happy (if the lineup is good) Cause 8 is fine, but choreography wise, 9 would be better since odd numbers visually tend to look better I think....?? And honestly, at this point of time, I'm just praying that we will get AT LEAST 2 Chinese members in the final group, 3 would be ideal, but at this rate I'll take two😭

I need an 11 members group, then my lineup would be: 1- Leo (the all rounder/composer we absolutely need) 2- Sangwon (our obvious center) I didn't even knew them before the show, but they became my top2 immediately. 3- Hsu ching yu (bc we need a passionate dancer like him, even if I'm not totally sold for the vocals, the rest makes up for it, I would watch him even if he doesn't get many lines) 4-Jung hyun jun (another passionate dancer/all rounder, but I know he won't make it 🥲) 5- Park Dong Gyu (the most incomprehensible thing in this show is him not being popular among the koreans voters, like he is being carried by international voters despite being one of the best vocalist and one of the strongest visual that match korean standards) 6- Yeom Yechan ( He needs more confidence but I think he has a lot to show us as the main rapper with Leo) 7- Nian Boheng (I'm sold for everything about him: rap, dance, looks, aura, personnality) 8- Kang Woojin (We need his voice, even if his dance isn't the best I think he could blend well with the others if he improves a little. I also think he needs another viral moment, and to work on his confidence ) 9- He Xinlong ( Also the whole Package) 10- Na Yunseo 11-Kim Taejo The last two are just a personnal preferences, I don't think they are needed in the lineup right now but I can see their star potential with improvement, like, their vocals are already very good for their age. The thing is I have others trainees I like 😭 HengYu, Junmin, Jia Hao, Fan ZheYi, Geon woo (who was actually good in whiplash). It's impossible to choose, to think last season I was only strongly rooting for Gunwook, Keita, Yedam, Seunghwan and Taerae. Of course if Anxin and Sanghyeon were to debut I would not be mad, I think they deserve it skill wise (Sanghyeon can blend with improvement) and their appeal is actually needed for the group to be successfull among the korean public which is the most important....but yeah their appeal is not that big for me personally. And I don't even want to comment on masato and Liyu 😮‍💨 but still: I think Masato skills are "ok" but I don't see the idol aura in him, like he looks like he doesn't want to be here . And Liyu is the opposite, I can see him being an idol but his skills are way too low compared to the others. So this current lineup isn't giving anything for me, but who knows, I learnt to love all the zb1 members after the debut so hopefully it will be the same.

I cannot believe they didn't show Harry June's dance battle after showing him in the teaser! Is Mnet that scared that his votes might go up and he may replace whoever Mnet had in mind as the dancer of the debut lineup !!! It pissed me off I feel like he won't get the main dancer edit coz Mnet knows how extremely good he is but doesn't want him in the lineup so deliberately now showing his skills!! I hate this..I was about to give up watching the show and just vote for sangwon and few others. But I will watch it..but this si breaking my heart. Harry needs to be higher ranked..he needs to go to the finals.. how is he 57 while Masata and liyu (sorry this may garner hate) in top 8. They are not at the level to be in top 8..that is just the fact. They need more training.

I hate it!!! 😭😭 Ah these SVS are gonna frustrate me even more..I start a show, like it and the voting results piss me off..seeing less talented people survive and make the final lineup over better contestants, I hate that!!! Sorry if I am being too negative here. But I am just upset!!

Totally not defending MNET, cause that dance segment could have been longer, just weighing in as an editor for broadcast TV shows. If the segment had to be kept to a particular length based on the way the producer timed certain segments, Jiang Fan might not have been in the final edit because he didn't go through to the next round so they only used participants who would still be on the show next episode. Might be the same for the Kill the Romeo trainee since they didn't all move on. Xinlong could have not been picked just cause there were so many people but you are right that being a C trainee could have been a factor. I noticed at the end they gave C trainee Yi Chen his third evil/negative edit in the previews. I'm hoping that they're finally giving him a chance to talk and show his good points and it'll just highlight his strong work ethic like test in the beginning of Project 7 that made him go viral before. Not holding my breath though. They didn't show Yi Chen's speech for a top 20 spot even though he's one of the top C trainees in the show. MNET is being so obvious with their K bias this season for real.

I don’t want to compare, but I think this lineup is already way better than Ahof and CYE. I don’t stan them because Groove didn’t debut. The only people who I’m attached to in Ahof are Park Han and Jeongwoo. And well, I don’t need to say anything about CYE. Their music is amazing yet not a single Main Vocal or any vocalist for that matter and an actual dozen. Not what y’all think Liyu and Masato are, but an actual dozen.

I think in recent survival shows, Ahof has the best lineup so far..and in BP2..Masato, Liyu are not top 8 material at all..Sangyeon is a better than them but still not top 8, top 20 but not top 8. The worst lineup was of Starlight boys and the group is nowhere to be seen. And Project7 is okay. I was anyway only rooting for J-min or Jeon Minwook from BAE173 coz he was my bias in BAE173, wanted Muzin to debut, didn't happen and Kenshin..everyone else, not really a fan of.

There were so many groups that came out of BP1 like EVNNE, ONEPACT, and AMPERS&ONE, so I have really high hopes that we’ll see a lot of trainees from Season 2 debut in groups afterward too :)

My top 8, and I'm listing my 5 picks first. 1) Nian Bo Heng 2) Yeom Ye Chan 3) Lee Leo 4) Zhang Jia Hao 5) Chen Bo Wen 6) Lee Sang Won 7) Zhou An Xin 8) Park Dong Gyu Honestly, I've made peace that Chung Sang Hyeon and Chuei Liyu will be in the group. As long as we get another rapper into the group to carry the rap (He Xin Long since he's the closest!), I'm good. Cuz Chung Sang Hyeon is at sub rapper 3 level haha. Honestly just speaking objectively. His rap is aight for an idol rapper. Also Jeff I don't know if you saw it since you don't watch until the end but there was a vote to place members into the semi-final round original songs. There were 4 songs and 6 people on each team. The voting ended today though on 8/16. I don't think it's going to matter too much because it won't happen until the top 24 so one more round of elimination. Which means some people you match will probably be eliminated by then.

1:03:07 chen kaiwen my onepick! he barely has any screentime :( but he is a chromosome trainee so under lay's company and a good dancer ofc!! he performed 'get a guitar' in his audition and i believe there was a mistranslation in your reaction - the subs say he claimed to be better than wang zi hao but he just says he's also most confident in dancing. i also think the full cam of his vocals is much better than what mnet aired but that's just my opinion. he rapped very well in s-class too and i think he stood out the most after the killing part! both jiahao and anxin are also technically chromosome trainees; they just went to a survival show (MakeMate1) and recieved kpop training under Nouer (kr company). they're all very close so i hope jiahao and kaiwen can go up in the ranks !!

Well... Except for 2 or 3 I'm happy with the last 48 participants. I don't get how these 2 or 3 got there considering they can't really sing well but whatever. Just like you, I'm okay with 6 of the current top 8. 3 of them are in my top 8 (Sangwon, Anxin, Leo) and the other 3 (Kangmin, Junseo, Sanghyeon) I can see them debut with the others. Masato... I don't get the hype. He is good/okay, but there are many trainees way better than him. He didn't "wowed" me in any of his performances. Liyu... Skill wise he is so far behind the other top 8 members and even if he improves in the next couple of months I don't see him match with the others and form an harmonious group... With season 1, trainees I didn't really support (Gyuvin, Jiwoong) debuted, I felt their faces did most of the work for them, but at least they could keep up and had their bases down. They work with the other 7 members. As for voting, I think right now Anxin and Sangwon don't really need my votes, they are secured in their spot, so I'm focusing on the others to try and kick Masato and Liyu out of the top 8 ^^ I vote for Leo and Xinlong everyday and then I alternate between some others, because I can't decide ^^ Junmin, Jiahao, Chingyu, Geonwoo, Nian Boheng I like. And I vote for Hengyu too, we do need a main vocal. Woojin is a great singer, but his dancing.... I watched his Plot Twist fancam and wasn't really impressed.

Your rant about liyu being that high HAHAHAHAHA. Honestly, I felt it. Liyu and Masato are such questionable picks for me. People have been voting for their visuals when they haven't fully developed their skills yet. And we've seen this play out before, Liyu, at least, is already in the group. There's absolutely no way he'll be left out, people LOVE that face of his LOL. I also saw some people saying Sanghyeon didn't deserve his rank, but honestly, out of all of the visual picks, I feel like Sanghyeon is the slightly best suited lol. He's skilled, and he's cute. There's A LOT of room for growth, of course, but it's nothing compared to what Liyu lacks. Masato is the same, that star power just isn't there for him. He pulled the performance off, but... He doesn't shine. They gathered such a strong bunch this time around, and have been forsaking them all for these pretty boys, I'm just... It's so frustrating. And I've been seeing some tweets, even from Korean watchers, commenting on how the show feels more like a documentary about the debut of the people they've chosen for this group, and that Mnet should just debut those 8 boys and continue the program with the remaining trainees LOL

Kim Geon Woo (He apologized, being strict is different from bullying given being a trainee and a trainee leader at that, and I don't just believe accusations that easily as someone who's been a Kpop fan since 09' given other falsely accused idols in recent time) 5. I never fell for it from those shows and even questioned other people's choices as well POLITELY but here we are now. I fell for Li Yu with his charm specially after seeing that he's actually a good dancer at least. What I'm saying here is that we shouldn't question one's choices because everyone has their own charm that other's do not. Kaiwen (P21) did Get a Guitar in the first C-episode! He's from Chromosome, the same company as Wang Zihao (btw I remember you reacting to him saying he was better than Zihao at dancing, but that was a mistranslation; he said that (like Zihao) he is also better at dancing than singing). Anyway, he has gotten practically no screentime since then though (much like his sunbae lol) so it's not surprising you don't remember him 😭 He was one of the two people on the losing S-Class team who won his individual part (the other being Minjae, who had the killing part) and he has gotten praised for pulling it off very well! I thought his fancam was very good as well, I like his stage presence

From this current top 8 I would replace masato, liyu and sanghyeon with geonwoo, xin long and yoonmin (if a miracle happens lol) or junmin and that will be my personal line up. I could get behind sanghyeon, but for masato and liyu....no I don't see any potential.. and yes WE NEED MORE SPOTS PS. At the end of the episode you missed a part, there is currently a voting to match people with the original songs for the seminfinals, and there was the preview to those songs to be able to vote

I’m also bummed with didn’t get the Yumeki vs Baek Koo Young battle after showing it in the preview. Sometimes things are shown in the preview for next episodes that don’t make it in the Final Cut which is sooo lame. Then why tease it at all if you’re gonna cut it. They could definitely make the elimination ceremony a bit shorter and give us more content of, eg. Dance battles and other more entertaining contents.

bp2 has a new voting system compared to other planet series (bp1 & gp999), the last survivor contestants for every elimination (like the 48th place rn) will have a live voting for i think 1 hour only during the survival announcement to determine who will have the final 48th rank, the same goes to the next survival elimination as well. that’s why star creators got theory that maybe this is a hint from mnet to maybe add 1 more member during the final line up which makes it a 9-member group like zb1 in the finale where they’ll reveal the rank 9 contestants and will do another round of live voting for them, and it also bc of the seating arrangement of the final top 8 too bc the chairs are a little awkward where 8th & 7th chair are beside with each other 😆 they said they’ll probably make 6th & 7th chair beside with each other then 8th & 9th chair with each other to balance the final chair arrangement. just a funny but quite interesting theory from star creators in X

Thank you for being honest, and I feel very similar about Liyu and Hanwen. I understand why thery have fans - Liyu seems super sweet and shy and he was outwardly feminist in the past, and Hanwen is super kind to his fans and has a crazy online footprint that a lot of people find funny (even I've talked about him to others) - but them being this high isn't right. There are other trainees that are just as good looking but are more stable and consistent performers. I also fear so many people aren't thinking about the group's future concept. They're going to be likely a very masculine group, doing music that I think will be Stray Kids or Ateez adjacent (maybe even Monsta X). We should probably get trainees that can pull off that vibe. I just don't see that versatility in Liyu yet. Someone else mentioned it but the entire show feels like a documentary following the pre-selected top 8 towards their debut as opposed to a fair survival show where everyone has a shot. The amount of screentime Masato and Liyu had in the earlier episodes was unwarranted. The whole Plot Twist conflict is also messy - how they edited Yichen AND the fact that Haneum was also the killing part at one point but they never discuss it. It feels like it was all manufactured to paint Liyu as a savior for the group. It feels disingenuous. So much of this season feels disingenuous. My top 8 who I can envision pulling off the future sound: Lee Sangwon, Lee Leo, Park Donggyu, Kim Junmin, He Xinlong, Chen Kaiwen, Zhou Anxhin, and Kim Geonwoo. If it's a 9 member group, add Nian Boheng. If it's an 11 member group add Woojin and Zhang Jiahao. No matter what, I will check out their debut. But if some of my faves won't make it, I won't be following them closely. I'll give their debut a shot but that's about it.

I'm sorry if this is a negative comment, but who in the world keeps voting for Li Yu? The man can't sing to save his life. He had 3 notes to sing in the last challenge and was on pitch for exactly ZERO of them. We're approaching semifinals and we have a kid high in ranking who can't sing. In a SINGERS' competition! I get that he looks good, but he has to be able to sing, otherwise, it'll limit the kind of songs the group can get, cause they'll be in that situation where fans think it's unfair he doesn't get lines, so they'll have to get less difficult songs to match his low abilities or the fans will riot. I'm sorry, but he should have been eliminated with the 1-stars.

I agree with so much of what you said. I don’t think Liyu, Sanghyeon or Masato should be in the top 10. I am so frustrated by both MNET and the fans focusing on looks and not talent. I am also frustrated that Anxin, who is also an actor, is so dead with facial expressions while performing Whiplash. I think top 8 are Sangwon, Leo, Kangmin, Junseo, Jiahao, Xinlong, Anxin, and Woojin

Wait this is sooo how I feel. Like masato and Li Yi are so far behind the other top 8 talent wise and it’s crazy and I don’t understand what is happening (though masato can kind of blend in but almost so much so that he’s overshadowed because his skills are so incredible average/slightly below average). But with Sanghyeon and Jun Seo for example, I feel very similarly as I did with Gyuvin and Woo Jin where I personally don’t really see the hype and I feel like their existing fanbase and visuals are carrying them but, they’re solid enough where I’m ok with it. And Gyuvin actually grew on me sooooo much after debut and he’s actually one of my favs in ZB1 now so I hope something similar will happen for me with some of the guys this season

I agree about cye lineup but def not ahof. I do agree that groove was probably better but most of the guys that debuted are very talented. Some of them, like Daisuke and Jeongwoo, and Shuaibo aren’t incredible but they are def good enough to debut and hold their own in a group. And then you have great talents like JL, Steven, and Park Han who debuted

I totally agree with you Jeff. I wasn't really satisfied with the top 8 but I'm glad some of my faves made it (sangwon, anxin, leo and junseo). There are some people deserve to rank higher. People should start taking seriously when it comes to votes. Voting talents matter than visual. Hopefully we get to see more their improvements for the next mission.

IDK if anyone else mentioned it but a lot of trainees who placed high without getting much screen time, often came from other survival shows. A lot of these votes came in before the show even started so people were either voting based on vibes, or who they know from previous shows. Some of them: Yichen, Zhao Guangxu (LynnLynn), and Yeom Yechan all competed on Project 7, Yichen and Guangxu I believe both made it to the finals on that show. Sun Jiayang (cute guy who looks like baby gyuvin) was on Starlight boys. Hu Hanwen has an insane digital footprint and internet presence, there are past videos of him singing and dancing where he was much better than what he showed during S-Class. Also, I feel like the idea of trainees who rank high but not because of their skills are up there because of visuals isn't entirely correct. Yes I'm sure some of the trainees ranked high because they're good looking and lets be real, visuals does have a play in Kpop and that's not going to change overnight or through this show. But Kpop idols isn't just about Skills vs Visuals, there's more to that. Some are there because their funny, have a real good sob story or just oddly charming. Personality is another huge factor in who viewers are drawn to and I feel like people forget that sometimes. Yes, it would be better if people focus on only voting the best of the singers, dancers, rappers, because it should be aboue the best of the best. But to say "they're only there because of their visuals" or "I'm so sick of people only voting for visuals" Idk, just makes the concept of idols sound a lot more shallow and 2 Dimensional than it should be.
