Hi guys! Saw that Close Your Eyes are doing really well sales wise and I’ve seen many people suggest them- but wondering if you guys would prefer I do the survival show first. Like is it worth the watch or should I just skip it and dive into the comeback?

Don’t know when I’ll be able to do the show if ever it wins, probably after Stage Fighter.

Yesssss please I love watching your reactions to survival shows even though I don't really comment or anything

Etoile2004

there's like one scene i would love to see your reaction too but as a whole i don't think it's necessary to watch LOL

Omg… I just left this long winded comment but for some reason I don’t think it sent which is so tragic but here’s my very biased opinion typed out once again: I love cye music (like probably one of my top 3 5th gen discographies b/c they’re like one of the only R&B focused/based groups rn) but… project 7 was a mess. It’s like if the b2p lineup ended up being what the first elimination top 8 was but worse. Like envision Leo and Sangwon but with only people like liyu, Sanghyeon (who I love down and fits the group so well but have to admit is weaker then the other members talent wise), masato, Jiayang, Hu Hanwen, etc… Like these are not talentless boys by any means but I truly think only a few of them were debut ready when the final lineup was announced. Project 7 and the final lineup were suuuper controversial because of this and a lot of talented trainees got overlooked. I also think it really started to drag in the middle of the show. Like there’s def parts of it that are worth watching but idk if it’s worth putting yourself through the whole show. I’m obviously very biased because I just don’t think I’ve ever liked a final lineup for a survival show less than I did with project 7 and I might be an extreme minority but this is just my opinion on the show! Maybe it would be good for you to watch though because you’re always talking about how you want trainees to prove you wrong and improve before debut and that happened to me with this group! Like they obviously worked very hard between the show end and now and I can definitely say that the boys make a great group.

I stopped watching Project 7 two episodes in but if you end up watching it, I'll watch it with you! Just a bit of a warning though, the episodes are LONG and it honestly sometimes feels like the editing team was non-existent 😅

You're not alone in your opinion about the line up, I feel the same way; in fact quite a lot of people do. There is a big gap between those who were ready to debut and those who weren't, the first episode proved that quite clearly and I really disagree with some of the judges' decisions. But the past can't be changed, and that is not to say that they can't grow in the future -- in fact, I really hope they do because it will only make the group better!

Project 7 was lowkey just ragebait but it was still kinda fun to watch either way, i liked the stages

YESSSS P7 IS SOO FUN TO WATCH (aside from ranking announcement). and all of cye albums have been hit so far! (I forgot to mention but the mentors here are AMAZING, we have Ryan Juhn, Bada Lee, Ryu D etc) and all the concept songs produced from this show is definitely 11/10! (one of the song is my fav from alll survival shows ive watched in the past years)

hana gashiru

yeahhh i definitely agree with you! at first i was skeptical with the final lineup. but all of them really prove to everyone how much they've worked themselves ^^

Close your eyes music is so peak is insane so yesss please reactions to them I don’t mind if you do the comeback and then project 7 or do project 7 first Edit: seeing múltiple people saying to not watch project 7 because you will be disappointed with the not debuted participants. I will say I watch project 7 after discovering close your eyes and I love all the members, they have such great chemistry specially vocal wise so I personally would not switch anyone. I agree that they have grown so much since project 7 so the show itself does not show everything they are capable of but is still a good watch imo. And their debut documentary is great as well.

Zerose777

Project 7 really tested my patience lol. Many amazing talented people, especially singers yet none made it and only 1 person in my lineup made it who was ranked 3rd in the finale. But since you seem to like the group anyway, it’s a fun time if you don’t care about rankings and eliminations 😅

Ben -kun

Nah dont do it. But I do enjoy their rnb music so please react to it

Tina Zou

Yeah I agree! Though I love their music so please react to their mvs.

Ryan

Doesn't do it for me personally, if you wanted an alternative survival show by a group with recent comebacks Nizi Project Season 2 was NEXZ's, if that would interest you.

Zerose777

Yes Nizi Project Season 2 is so peak!

Omg I loveeee CYE music, probably in my top 3 rn. I watched p7 when it was airing and at first I was really enjoying it but yeah it was kind of a mess by the end, I did enjoy a lot of the performances but only 2 of my picks debuted so I was really bummed. But honestly, their debut really hooked me and I’ve been fallowing them since then. So far they’ve never disappointed me and their music is sooo my taste. I’d really like to watch you react to their music and I wouldn’t mind watching p7 with you again 😊

Project 7 is one of the most frustrating survival shows that I’ve watched and i’ve seen all of them trust me. The only reason I stuck around were because of the trainees. But for the plot? I’d say go ahead hahaha. (EDIT: My first statement was wrong. I was thinking about Starlight Boys. So yeah it’s decent enough but the editing is quite frustrating because it’s slow and repetitive even by mnet standards haha and yeah i also stuck around because of the trainees.) I love CYE’s music since it’s the R&B I like and I keep up with them (all the music from their first mini or EP are on my playlist) but unfortunately, even though it’s been months already, the final lineup still doesn’t sit well with me and that’s a first for me.

I feel like while seeing how they started is important, most of the members that made it in don’t really have super highlighted moments on the show. It’s a bit of a waste of time, and will leave you frustrated or possibly a little iffy about the line up (because there were super talented people that didn’t make it in). It’s like if you want to subject yourself to the same disappointment of Donggyu not making it in but times it by 3. Alternatively, I’d recommend watching their documentary series. It shows a lot about their company (like refreshingly detailed but not boring), the intent of their debut, and gives you some insight of the members - it’s 3 episodes longs and about 20ish-40ish minutes each episode. From there I’d suggest watching their variety stuff. Watch their Idol DKDK episode, their Idol Human Theater episode, and if you want something super interesting and more intimate/get to know them way more as people, they went to a variety show that discussed philosophy and their perspective on life and morality (it’s on the YouTube Channel leejiyoung_official, the video is titled “Power N Idols Engrossed in Philosophy Debate”). It’s subbed but it's more of an acquired taste, I don't know how many people would like it. Lastly, they do have their own variety show, Close&Open, but honestly I don’t really find it that engaging. I'd skip some of the episodes if I were you, and instead watch their 1N2D episodes. You should also check out their albums, they have the best discography of any rookie boy group right now imo. They also just released their recording for "X" - their most recent comeback. Watching that would be a good way to understand what each member does and their talent levels. They are a pretty solid group with an eager and friendly dynamic, and I fully believe Kyoungbae (their maknae) is someone to watch. So much raw talent, and he became their main vocal at age 16 with no formal vocal or dance training before the survival show. He's crazy talented.

CYE music is soo good. They have 3 EP and all of them are amazing. Definitely you need to check their debut and comeback, and maybe then decide if you want to watch Project 7 (that personally I really like the show)

natalie

I think project 7 itself is a great survival show. They had great trainees and the quality of performances were great but i do agree with what some other people are saying. The lineup will make you confused and a little frustrated. Almost all of the trainees i liked didn’t make it in which is why mostly everyone was skeptical of them. But if you’re willing to see the beginning and see how much they’ve grown since then, then you should watch it. I was for skeptical how the group would turn out but they are growing so fast. Would love to see you react to it but it’s not exactly necessary to getting into them.
