Etoile2004

jungwon and hanbin (B.I) tuned in to support, leo used to be with hanbin’s label 💚

ashley

aahh i have been waiting for this excited to watch it

This entire debut show was pre-taped, so before Arno got injured! Maybe a week before the debut, I think 🤔 I also hope that ald1 comesback with a chains/whiplash type of concept in the future for sure! (I would like to think that WakeOne isn't dumb, and will at least do that for Allyz😭) I do think that going with Freak Alarm was a good idea, though, since in Korea, I heard that the song is doing really well! I heard that it charted on Korean music charts, so for a debut, that is definitely good! I'm guessing that they are keeping the chains like concept for maybe their first comeback🤔 I guess we'll see lol Your reactions to Xinlong were literally me lmaooo😂 I low-key almost cried when watching him, since I've known him since he was in boy story😔 So I'm so happy with his re-debut! I also really like Raw Flame lmsoo!! I think the chorus is what makes people not like it as much, though, which I can understand

When will you post heated rivalry? Just asking no hurry

Yes these performances were pre-recorded! They pre-recorded the entire debut showcase a couple of weeks ago so Arno is perfectly fine here because the injury happened last week after the debut showcase was recorded. Wakeone said it was a fracture in the announcement, but during their non pre-recorded promotional events, he has been wearing a brace (that covers his knee and most of his thigh and calf) and not a cast, so that makes fans think it’s not actually a fracture and maybe more like a pulled or torn ligament? It’s very unclear and wakeone didn’t even give a vague timeline for recovery so the best we can do is send love and support and hope he recovers as quickly as possible.

Also, I was just curious if you would react to Ald1's untitled videos if you have the time?🤔 (if not, that's fine obviously, I was just curious) But the videos are basically behind the scenes of how Ald1 practiced for MAMA and MMA! It would especially be interesting to see your thoughts on their untitled videos for MAMA, considering that they had to change up their performance at the last min. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLHb5Cfi_F4LQWgpw6Qgc69jl5BXHPLOS1

Also a couple of things: I think a lot of global fans felt the same about raw flame - they liked it a lot and even more than freak alarm - but I think that freak alarm is a much more digestible/mainstream song. In my opinion, Raw flame is VERY kpop, like honestly kind of neo leaning, and it’s not quite as grand, so I understand why they didn’t go with it for the title. The growling/vocal fry thing in Raw Flame is Arno btw. I totally agree with you about the chains concept thing, and I still think fans feel the same way, but for me, considering how zb1, Izna, and Kep1er’s debuts went, I’m ok with how this debut came out. I think with project groups, when there’s such high expectations and a sort of concept that fans are already expected, it never tends to land quite right. Like all of the groups wakeone has produced in the past 4 years have just had sort of mid debuts but they do tend to grow into their own sound and I’m hoping that happens here.

ashley

its actually two weeks before, they filmed around the 30 and 31st I think or 29 and 30th of December.

jeffavenue

filming it in the morning to see if i like and will continue. you guys will know by end of wednesday CST.

Hi Jeff, thank you for your reaction -- I loved watching it with you and hearing your opinions! I think I would actually have to disagree with establishing chains as their main concept, I think that it needs to be a mixture. Ald1 does pull off Chains very well, but it isn't something that matches all the members 100%, especially with the younger members; they have all the time in the world to lean into a sexy concept later, or even to do it for specific songs on their albums like this. Vocally they lean towards R&B and they pull off high-tension choreos well too! As a newly formed group I think it's going to take some time for them to work out how to gel all their strengths together as a concept, so I'm super excited to see where they go from here -- in any case for now I think that Freak Alarm was a great start!

Polly

ty! Hope you’ll enjoy it🥺 and just to let you know it gets better with every episode🙏

If you interested in watching the behind stuff from mama awards, I recommend you to watch their variety shows titled "Alpha Drive One, Let's Go" that was an mnet plus original series. It's also interconnected with their Untitled series from ald1's YT. The whole shows are great (it's 3 episode), but if you only interested in how they rehearse and how they change the stages during mama, you could just watch the EP. 2 of the "Alpha Drive One, Let's Go" and "untitled_03 ('2025 MAMA AWARDS' Practice & Stage).ald1"

Raw flame is definitely a fan favorite. Even for me but I think freak alarm works way better as a tittle track and as you said all songs are diverse but I still see a cohesive aspect to it so great debut album.

Zerose777

There's a lot of fans like me who don't really want a sexy concept like Chains. In fact, I'm pretty tired of hearing Chains to the point where I almost dislike it lol. I always preferred the songs "Sugar High" and "Lucky Macho" over "Chains" so I'm really glad their debut didn't go down this route. I wanted to see something different. Freak Alarm is so much better than Chains in my opinion. Also Cinnamon Shake is my favorite song!

OneDoorTeume

I disagree that Chains should be their main concept. While it is a good song and the sexy concept is thrilling occasionally, it would be way too much for it to be their main concept. I watched B2P as it came out and I never expected a sexy concept from the debut group. I think Freak Alarm is a great debut and Chains fits perfectly as a B side.

Lnqxie

Most Idols don't use Group Positions ever since Gen 4. But here's my take on the ALD1 member's role in the songs: (these were the obvious ones) Main Vocal: Leo, Geonwoo, Junseo Lead Vocal: Anxin, Sangwon, Arno Main Dancers: Arno, Sangwon, Xinlong Lead Dancers: Geonwoo, Junseo Main Rapper: Sanghyeon, Xinlong, Leo Lead Rapper: Geonwoo, Anxin They are a well-balanced group, which is why they can also fit into any concept.

Lnqxie

Never Been 2 Heaven has a lot of extra AdLibs in the back, and they sound so crisp! I'm loving it more

Kal Haze

From looking at a look of reviews and comments, freak alarm was a safe option, like raw flame is not everyone's cup of tea

weirde82

I think the same as you about Chains, and now the views of that video are way more than before and keep growing

Lynn

I agree with literally every single thing you've said in this video LOL its exactly the same as what I was saying. That chains performance was LETHAL and I screamed all throughout it and XINLONG in chains is a BLESSING! Raw flame is also by far my favorite new track from the album (not including chains) its just amazing!

Sarah Z.

I fear Junseo and Arno are only considered sub vocalists in Ald1. Main Rapper I think is only Xinlong with Sanghyeon and Leo as lead rappers, Anxin and Geonwoo are at most sub rappers with Arno

jeffavenue

yes i agree freak alarm covered a lot - strong dancing, hiphop dancy vibes, soft beautiful vocals, bridge etc. it was definitely a safer, neutral choice

mardabi

I agree that without a chain-like song direction (I don't mind wahatever concept though), we kinda missed the chance to fully show what the boys can really do. That said, I like Freak Alarm although it's not my most fav (and can't beat chains!). It’s not the song that shows their full potential, but it’s still something I can be proud of. Even though I personally prefer a strong concept or lore from the start, I think Freak Alarm was chosen for strategic reasons. It’s probably not going to be my favorite track, but honestly, a lot of my friends and general K-pop fans really like it (way more than I expected). The Korean chart also looks pretty good (for a boy group). I think the company wanted a powerful, grand debut that’s still easy for the public to vibe with. Since they came from b2p, it feels like company low-key wants the group to be popular in the eyes of both casual fans/public and their own fandom, with deeper concepts or lore coming later. Freak Alarm is catchy, fresh, powerful but not too intense, and still gives off that easy-to-accept “alpha” image. That’s why it might feel like it could go "further" or "more" when I listen to it but I think that’s also probably why so many people like it. Most listeners might not think it’s the best or extremely amazing song, but they can’t deny that they still enjoy it, and I think the song works that way.

Jane Madriaga

I love chains concept too, but I like the whole album and I can see what they're trying to do. Overall, I love their debut album.

Ash

It's nice to see a few comments here (not a lot lol) that disagree about "Chains" being the main concept. I don't think it's a concept that necessarily fits all the members, unless there's something I'm misunderstanding about what people want. I do think all the members make "Freak Alarm" work for them. Obviously, a lot of these songs and the concepts were decided long before they knew who the members were. I think people are doing wayyyy too much having expectations for what the group should be. Like, let them debut, put some songs out, and let them have the chance to build their identity? It's a bit wild that people think they should have this super established identity already. They're literal infants in terms of being a group. & not every group needs a distinct sound or a lore even. IDK. Something I'll always find weird about k pop fans are the expectations they put on the artists they like and the managing they try to do from the outside. The fans' hyperfixation on "Chains" is getting a little old and tiring, to be honest. Also, there's a video on Instagram where they did the "open your eyes..." trend to their favorite songs on the album. I think some of the responses would surprise people. Yes, everyone but Leo opened their eyes for "Chains," but all did for "Freak Alarm." (I suppose one could argue it was rigged for promo, but who knows.) To me, it feels like they're establishing themselves as a powerful performance group. These songs are gonna go so hard in concert. As for the album, some things I appreciate: - the songs are all around the 3 minute mark - I don't have the technical musical knowledge to properly discuss this really, but all the songs feel...full? Layered? Like they have a verse, a pre-chorus, chorus, a bridge, etc. They don't feel like formulaic (?) or watered-down 2 minute-long songs for TikTok or easy streaming. There's flow switches or beat/melody switches. Idk. The songs build and progress, which is nice and something I noticed when listening through the album.

42:24 When formula grows on you it really grows on you doesn't it😂 Thanks sm for reacting! I'm so proud of the boys they did absolutely amazing and the songs are all so good

I was so happy to see you like Raw Flame, I keep cruising reactions on YouTube JUST TO SEE whether they're Raw Flame lovers or haters LOL IT'S THE BEST SONG IN THE ALBUM I love it so much. Haven't been able to stop listening to it since it came out. I'd love to see them performing it live.
