If you get into actually like reacting to this stuff you should def check out young royals but also it’s up to you with what content you like to upload!!!

Joy

We are all living in a Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams universe. 🧡✨🔥 Crazy to think they were both servers 8 months ago, both having less than 10k followers on Instagram but now both within a 2-month frame exceed 2 million followers each. Being invited to the Golden Globes and late-night shows 😩 ugh, I just love them and hope they stay soulmates for the rest of their lives.

jeffavenue

Camille Angelica TV

The show was from a book series! Also, wanted to share, the stairwell kiss was improv! It was supposed to be a peck. It was so sweet, the director decided to keep it!

Lily Bujnak

I need moooore!!! their story is so deep and also many hockey players or other ppl in sport industry(?) said how real it actually is and that's makes it even more crazier like damn someone went threw it omg😭 i was laughing so much b/c of your reactions THANK YOU JEFF!!! can't wait for next upload 🙏🏻

Claudia Peixoto

OMGGGG THANK YOU FOR THIS JEFF, I'M SO HAPPY! I'm literally obsessed for them. I'm reading the books now and I'm loving it. Some things you should know: - Shane is autistic (it isn't a spoiler, the writer has said it recently) and I think it's a pretty good representation, because that is not mentioned even in the books but you can see the nuances on how he always folds his clothes before sex, how he has a comfort drink and how he's always making the questions. I love it. - The last hotel room scene was actually the first day of filming, can you believe it? hahaha they have so much chemistry omg. - About the time jumps, it's exactly how it is in the books, they really see each other only like in 6 to 6 months. The adaptation is so good and the dialogues are pretty much the same! I'm excited for the rest of the eps, thank you again for reacting! ❤️ Waiting for season 2 and 3 already.

I wanted to say that I'm really appreciating your insight as a queer man yourself. A lot of reactions I've seen have been from queer and straight women and some straight guys, so I haven't seen much of the perspective of a queer man. As a queer woman, BLs often hold a lot of escapism in it, because issues of misogyny and gendered romance dynamics are much less of an issue (and FF is so rare to see in media). But I can see how that would be a lot less of escapism for you. I'm very curious what you will think of the secondary couple of ep 3, as they have their own dynamic and issues.

Omg Jeff your reactions🤣 I looove this!! Also the whole vulnerability thing in the sports industry is something not talked about enough for the sporters in lgbt+ community and this series/book really wrote that complexity and vulnerability in such a beautiful way and the actors portrayed it so well🥹 Also the stairwell kiss was improv and that was the sweetest thing ever!!🥹😍

Angel Burns

So happy you are reacting to this! I was hoping you would! Neither Connor or Hudson have spoken about their sexuality, but the creator of the show Jacob Tierney is gay so that probably helps when it comes to accuracy. It just gets better from here and I hope you love it!

Lynn

I lovee this reaction and all your commentary!! Im so glad you are watching HR cause you seem to relate on many levels as well. Can't wait for the next one, it really gets better and better with each episode!

NeonGreen

Thank you so much for being so open about your own experience as a queer person in this review 💜

Anna

Kris

Honestly, the best reaction to this series I’ve seen! I just wanted to say how much I value your perspective. You treat the show with such genuine respect while offering such great insight into the LGBTQ+ culture it portrays. I apologize in advance for this extremely long comment. I am so obsessed with this show and the characters it's portrays, especially Ilya Rozanov. While I empathize with Shane, my heart consistently goes out to Ilya. I think many people overlook Ilya’s perspective because he doesn’t project the same outward fragility as Shane. While Shane wears his emotions on his sleeve, Ilya’s devotion is found in his actions. His consistent pursuit not only shows vulnerability, but it also speaks volumes; he orchestrated their most pivotal moments—from the gym and the commercial to their first intimate connection. By taking the lead—requesting the hotel room number, initiating the first kiss, and maintaining three years of continuous contact before their sexual (intercourse ) relationship even began—Ilya demonstrated a profound, persistent desire to be close to Shane that is often misunderstood . Just to provide some context l into Ilya's financial situation. His family is not wealthy, in fact it's the opposite. They give the appearance of being rich, but it's all an act. In reality they rely solely on his hockey earnings. I don't quite remember what contributed to their financial downfall - bad investments, bankruptcy, etc.. Here are a few instances In which I feel Ilya's motives and actions have either been misunderstood or mischaracterized: Figure Skating Scene in Russia: I hated to see Shane hurt during this scene, but I try to keep in mind that Ilya’s rejection was not meant to be cruel.. Shane was just told very clearly in the previous scene that in Russia, homosexuality carries the risk of genuine physical danger, yet he still approaches Ilya in a very obvious manner. Ilya is understandably hyper-vigilant about their safety and demands space three separate times "NOT HERE" "GO SIT DOWN" and " PLEASE GO" and Shane fails to read the subtext or respect the verbal warnings. When Shane said NOT HERE", during the shower scene in Episode 1, Ilya respected Shane's boundaries and stopped immediately. Ilya simply needed that same level of respect in return. Shane’s difficulty reading the situation may be linked to him being on the spectrum (as per the author), but it doesn't change the fact that Ilya was setting and defending a necessary safety boundary. However, saying all that it is heartbreaking that he ghostied Shane for 6 months. I understand the reasoning behind it, but without communication Shane certainly doesn't. Awards Show Bathroom Scene: What is also often misinterpreted as an act of cruelty, actually showcases a nuanced interaction where Ilya's harsh exterior breaks as soon as he realizes Shane is in pain. We often see Ilya use sarcastic (usually sexual) remarks as a defense mechanism, however once he notices how upset it makes Shane he deliberately softens his voice and makes physical contact. He then gently grabs Shane's face and assumes the dominant position to help Shane cope with his out of control emotions. His dominance isn't about control; it’s about pulling Shane out of his own head. With a few calm instructions, Ilya anchored Shane, making it clear to him how much he looked forward to their evening together. He then passionately kissed him and wished him good luck, showing him just how much he truly cared. Penthouse Scene - Dominant/ Submissive Dynamic A lot of people mistakenly believe that their dom/sub dynamic inherently means that Shane is being manipulated or coerced. This couldn't be farther from the truth. A clear illustration of Shane's enjoyment is seen when Shane asks, Ilya 'Are you going to f*** me?' and Ilya responds, 'We will see" the distinct smile that appears on Shane's face at that moment highlights his genuine enjoyment of their dynamic. For Shane, Ilya's dominance offers a much-needed release, allowing him to finally let go of control in his otherwise rigid and highly structured world. Conversely, for Ilya, it provides a much needed sense of order amidst a chaotic existence, essentially grounding him. It'is a mutual beneficial relationship. Ilya would never coerce or manipulate Shane into doing anything he didn't want to do. This show has already highlighted how important consent is to Ilya. Penthouse Post Sex a Russia "Conversation" For Shane, home (Canada) is a source of pride and identity he wants to share. But for Ilya, Russia is a cage. While Shane sees a conversation starter, Ilya sees a reminder of his brother's homophobic slurs, the father he can never please, and the country that could threaten his very existence if they ever found out who he really was, The ultimate irony is that Shane brings up Russia because he loves Ilya and wants to know him deeper, but Russia is the very reason Ilya can never allow that love to be public or permanent. Every time Shane tries to get closer, he accidentally reminds Ilya of the walls that keep them apart. Elevator "We Didn't Even Kiss" Scene: In the elevator we see Shane's realization that he has crossed the invisible line they established. He isn't mad at Ilya or their arrangement; he is panicked because his own developing feelings have made the "safe" distance of their hookups impossible to maintain. As a person defined by rigid discipline and control, that 'f***' was purely self-directed panic. He realizes he can no longer reconcile the intense feelings he has with the casual nature of their meetings, and he is angry at himself for becoming vulnerable in a way he didn't intend.

Maria Elena Feliz

I Love You! Couldn’t have worded this better!! Also there are a lot of scenes where we didn’t see the point of view (thought process) of Ilya a good example of this is him panicking because he’s going to see Shane at the awards (“I was busy”) and then we see them in the same bathroom together later. Ilya is such a deep well written character that many seem to misunderstand which is a shame T_T

hyuuuk

i reallyyyyyy hope you are gonna upload episode 3-4 together….”cross fingers”

hyuuuk

this was very well put and exactly everyone’s thoughts who connected to this show the way Hudson and Connor and Jacob wanted us to! i’m sure Jeff will get hold of their emotional depth more as he watches.

Kris

I think most people think that ilya is just overconfident and arrogant, however I believe that his 'confidence' is a performance, a shield against the rejection he’s faced from his father and brother. So often interactions with Shane are read as toxic, malicious or power-seeking, but it’s the opposite: Ilya suffers from such a deficit of self-worth that he views Shane as fundamentally superior, he literally called him perfect in episode 1. He isn't trying to put Shane down to feel big; he honestly doesn't think his opinion matters enough to hurt Shane in the first place.

Beck Huston

They aren't rich. They are in Sochi at a hotel that Ilya probably paid for. The gala is thrown by the Russian government.

Nogana Sarangova

I’m sorry for being late but I just resubscribed to you for persuade of jade and other stuff Don’t write comments usually but cannot miss this opportunity cuz I’ve laughed so hard when someone speak russian in these series and these subtitles don’t translate everything ahahaha it’s such a loss I’ve never watched it with English subtitles earlier
