can't wait to do my crocheting while watching, I'm actually contemplating to send you list of recommendations based on what I think you will like. blessings jeff 💜 The royalty here isn't respected as expected because everybody know that they are just a puppet of Wei Yan, esp. the emperor. as xie Zeng said, the Xie family is loyal to the royal family for years, but it is being embarassed by this emperor... You will know once you get to see the emperor here and how Wei Yan here.... What you're saying is off course is the standard... but that's why the emperor is hated. also the cutting of ear is necessary, to send a message that he is serious , in this kind of war you should never show your weakness. that eunuch is cunning. Changy learned this as well, your enemy will not show any mercy, even if you do. One more thing, the fact that Xie Zheng accepted Changyu's background, despite that her father probably is the cause of Marquis father is when they totally reconciled.... I think we are missing to point put Changyu's character development. :) Also i think you've missed this fact, it had been established since the beggining that the emperor is a puppet emperor of Wei Yan. Wei Yan is the one who made him an emperor. also this is why Qi Min is also mad at Wei Yan, he thinks Wei Yan and Changzin are the cause of him loosing the throne. Li and Wei are competing against each other for power, but Li cant win against Wei yan for aving military power and the court itself. That's why Li alligned himself to Qi Min, who is the real heir to the throne. Remember the convo between Gonsun and Marquis, he dont know what will Baoer be like in years, but he def will not be like Wei Yan, wc means he will not treat Baoer as a puppet pr control the entire court. Anyway you'll know further why the emperor is submissive to the Wei. The emperor wants to remain on the throne, Marquis only said that implyng that he made a mistake pushng the marriage to him, because Marquis def will retaliate, thus the emperor will loose the Marquis or the Marquis can dethrone him.... Its like he is dethroning himself by commiting that mistake.

Yay we get an early upload. Actually been thinking of cdrama recommendations for you, and I think I’ll recommend Prisoner of Beauty to kind of ease you into the cdrama world gradually.

omfg super early!! I super agree to Prisoner of Beauty but I would also recommend the first jasmine. It just finish airing and I super enjoyed it. The story was good and the main cast carried with their acting!! You will see some familiar faces their tooo and the main guy is my favorite actorrr Another recs would be blossom. The same director from pursuit of jade. If you want a modern drama Shine on me or The best thing (zhang li he)m is the main guy :D

That scene with the eunuch and the decree. Xie Zheng was actually so ballsy. Because by tradition, the imperial edict represents the emperor so you are supposed to kneel before it. But Xie Zheng being him just blinked and stayed on his chair. It was hilarious to watch lol. As for Cdrama recommendations I agree with the suggestions here. Prisoner of Beauty or Blossom for historicals. The plot is also so engaging and among the best I've seen (I've been watching Cdramas for 10 yrs now). Strong/smart/cunning female leads as well. If you want modern dramas, Shine on Me or First Frost for sure. Check them out and see which one interests you. I can't believe we're almost done with this drama. Couldn't thank you enough for giving Cdramas a chance.

I will recommend "The First Frost". It's very popular, a modern drama so you won't have to suffer as much hehe. But if you are interested in another historical one, "Prisonner of Beauty" is a good one. It's also very popular

I also feel for SUI YUANQING, about the lost of his mother and the betrayal he got from QINMIN. But l wont say he is any good, just because he cared about his mother. Let's not forget he order the bandits to slaughter the whole village with no hesitation at all just to mislead people about General HE. That's no excuse.

I hereby nominate "The Double" if you want another historical one that is also intriguing. Its got action scenes too but also a healthy balance of mental games. It's my top Cdrama to date if we leave out xianxia (the genre with Gods and Immortals). If you are interested in xianxia you can try "Love in the Clouds" and "When Destiny Brings the Demon". They're super good and hella popular

Absolutely loved watching your reaction to these episodes once again :) Thank you so much for all your hard work in sitting through this amount of episodes and editing etc - it must be taking sooo much more time than we as watchers are aware of! For recommendatons now that you've tapped into C-Drama Land: I love your thoughts on trying to cover a show that will be airing and reacting to it simultaneously but it might become very tough to plan and taxing for you considering that Chinese dramas tend to air daily - sometimes even with more than one episode per day meaning the entire show sometimes finishes airing within 2-3 weeks. For "historical" dramas I would recommend... ... "Blossom": work of the same director that was as much of a masterpiece as this one. It has very strong leads and the chemistry is on point with the same quality as Pursuit of Jade - it's really as beautiful and not inferior in any regard. The lead woman is very different from Changyu though, not being interested in fighting at all but using her incredible intellect instead ... "Legend of the Female General": similar to Pursuit of Jade in quite a few regards to be honest but a really good work! For modern dramas - fortunately they tend to be a lot shorter than historical ones cause they don't have to spend as much time on developing the world view and implimenting the situation... ... "Hidden Love": a modern drama with one of China's most popular actresses Zhao Lusi. It has a strong female character and the love story is very adorable and the characters are very likable - you would enjoy this as it's more lighthearted with very little angst ... "The First Frost": the couple in this one was sooo good - and the storyline is very easy to follow as well, but I do think it needs to be mentioned that for me personally it was a little emotionally taxing as some of the characters carry a heavy emotional load ... "When I Fly Towards You": One of the best teenage dramas I've ever seen accompanying a group of friends through school until adulthood and the leads are super cute together. It's more slice of life that focuses a lot on the relationships between the characters with a lot of relatable elements ... "Falling Into Your Smile": this involves the well-loved Chinese gaming industry as both leads are e-gamers. While they have to handle the pressure of trying to become the best things start to develop with the girl being the first professional e-gamer in their league. The leads have really good chemistry and the show has a lot of comedic aspects as well. This taps into slightly different material than the other shows but it's not inferior in any regard either. ... "Lighter & Princess": a modern drama revolving around a boy and a girl coming from different social backgrounds but meeting in college and finding common ground going from rivals to lovers. This one is also very cute and has a very good cast. Honestly there are so many Chinese dramas that can be recommended but these are the ones I hold in the highest regard maintaining a sense of seriousness, great quality of plot, cast, etc. Some of these might ruin you for other shows cause they can't keep up with the quality ;) Goodness I'm so sorry this ended up being super long but I do take my recommendations seriously :)

I think introducing xianxia early would give Jeff a headache. haha. I'm 20 yrs in a cdramaland and still get headaches with their terminology and plots hahaha. Love in the clouds is my top though undefeated xianxia.❤️

Yess more cdramas haha. If you re looking something modern I’d say The first frost, super popular great cast and very pretty visually. It has heavy themes tho but yeah one of my faves Another one is hidden love (also suuper popular) or the best thing (same male lead as pursuit of jade) both super cute and very romantic haha
