This drama reminds me of Twenty Five Twenty One because of the 1st and 2nd place rivalry and the professor actress also played as Na Hee-do’s mom. Also the start of the drama with the contest being in a foreign country.

I started looking at reddit to see how other people were interpreting this in terms of brotherhood v BL, but had to stop reading because of spoilers. I'm curious like you and wondering how the actors thought of it. FOR ME, it feels as BL as what Korea would give to us right now. The amount of times in an episode I'm like, "...now kiss." hahah I went into this knowing absolutely nothing about the plot and I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I'm enjoying it! I have a baaad feeling about the ending, though. I'm feeling like someone's dying in the end...
