I missed this the first time around, but this is the kind of creativity that just blows me away! How did you come up with the idea for the undergear?

The inspiration for the undergear came from a few things. I read an article a while back about how some sportswear had been made to be flexible in normal conditions but would stiffen when met with sudden impact to absorb the trauma. Nothing quite to the extent of Madison’s undergear, of course. Another inspiration were the suits from Gantz, which also protect the wearer. But since that’s high-tech alien technology, I tried to scale it back to make it much more ‘real-world’. We actually spent a lot of time on the undergear’s visual appearance. Back in Chapter 21 and early Chapter 22, the material has a slightly more flexible look. Once the android smashes her into the wall in Chapter 22, it completely hardens (it stays that way afterwards to show that the inner materials took so much damage they didn’t revert).
