The mind is too loud and too busy, and sometimes pushing it all aside to focus on something does help, especially if the efforts help bring a smile for a bit. i find it interesting that you describe your hobbies and crushes as distractions… i see it as actively choosing things that bring you pleasure, fulfillment, moments of peace, and the other various meanings you can assign to them. i don’t know, maybe that’s just me having a negative association with the word distraction as well, but if there’s anything i’ve learned from being in this space, distractions can be a good thing 🤍 thanks for being my distraction tonight, i needed it 🤍

It’s always so interesting and sweet to hear your thoughts—they always spark new ones of my own. Hmm… I can definitely see hobbies as distractions. They’re little things you choose to actively insert into your life. But crushing on people? I never thought of that as a distraction, because it feels like something that just happens—like you don’t really have a say in it. Well… okay, daydreaming and letting your mind wander, sure—that is an active distraction. I think, in some way, we all partake in that, especially when our minds try to stay busy. I know I do. Still, I don’t know about the “crushing” part… maybe in the sense that you’re letting yourself go a bit? Siiigh, I feel like I’m not fully awake yet and my brain is slow, but it’s a really interesting thought to ponder over. Poor bumblebee! I hope it buzzed your ear off—told you good! 😤 But seriously… poor little thing. I can imagine the devastation, even if the giant that tore the house down was cute and handsome. As for the street noises—either I didn’t notice them before you mentioned it, or they only became louder afterward? I really feel like it was relatively quiet until then. Oh well!
