Striiiiiiiike! If you missed it this morning, the latest full-length episode of The Purple Stuff Podcast has dropped! And it's a really good one, we think!

Join us as we enter a mystical, magical bowling alley that's trapped in the early '90s, to enjoy all of the greasy food, arcade games, weird shoes and neat vending machines. And oh yeah, maybe we'll do some actual bowling, too!

Those alleys were ground zero for some of the best memories of our youth, and we really wanted to capture the vibe of it all with this one. Should definitely spark some memories for ya!

The episode should be live on your main feeds now, but if not, here it is on Spotify, or Apple, or if you prefer, here's a direct link to the MP3.

Enjoy! We'll be back soon with this month's Patreon-exclusive bonus show. Thanks so much for your support, and let's make the most out of summer while it lasts, because before long, it'll be time to get spooky again! (And yes, we have plans for that!)

Our late night bowling was called Rock n Bowl

There was a bowling alley within walking distance of my high school. My buddies and I skipped school quite often to go to the bowling alley and just destroy each other at Killer Instinct and Mortal Kombat 3.

Matt and Jay, love this immersive format with so many specifics, like the previous Sleepover and Mall eps! Took me right back to playing NBA Jam with greasy onion ring fingers.

Super fun episode! Takes me back to going to the bowling alley in my hometown as a kid

Yes, love these style of episodes! I waxed rhapsodic about those four-player arcade games after listening to today’s episode. I miss them! Also, my wife and I are hereby formally requesting a boardwalk episode.

Holy shit boys... I've been listening to podcasts for a long time...Ive been making podcasts for a long time. This was next level incredible. You basically made a full audio drama. Well, well done. I know exactly how much work something like this can be, and it is impressive how easy you made it all look. I had such a fun time. Do as many of these as you can. This deserves a major award.

This is my favorite episode in a while from you guys. Please keep trying new things in addition to your classic style

Loved the synthwave-laden trip to the bowling alleys of our past! This hit pretty much every mark, except our bowling alley was in the mall, so we had to go to the food court for grub. I loved the arcade in there specifically for Street Fighter and those light gun shooters games, like Police Trainer. An epic episode! Thanks so much!

I agree that this was a really well put together episode. Even during the transitions, I could "see" the slow-mo tracking shot moving across rows of shoes, mustashioed guys with bowling gloves, arcade cabinets, and watching corn dogs drop into the fryer. Well done! I thought there might be a Fred Flinstone egg machine appearance, but maybe that was exclusive to grocery stores. (Also, where did that ghost from the blog post come in? Just part of Cosmis Bowling?)

I listened to this in the car with my gentleman friend who’s a “leaguer” lol ... I went to see him bowl once and bowled an open frame with his team where I promptly humiliated myself and also broke a bunch of rules in the “Bowler’s Code” ... definitely lots of pressure being around the Power Glove Leaguers! The alley he played at had an app where you can pick the songs that play over the PA! I loaded the queue up with Iron Maiden and shrieky metal to rattle the other team lol ... Back in the day my mom was in a league with our neighbor and they brought us kids to league night every Wednesday, I played the claw machine and ate nachos for hours in the musty little alcove next to the shoes ... that smell of feet and old carpet and hot cheese sends you back every time

Amazing job on this show!!

This was definitely different and fun! I loved it! 😊

Loved this. I definitely spent many hot summer nights in these smokey locales. Loved the part about the scoot boards, I forgot about those things!
