If you missed the premiere over the weekend, the latest full-length episode of The Purple Stuff Podcast is here! This month, we’re taking you on a trip to McDonaldland for a look at Eight Great Happy Meals from the ‘80s, ‘90s and early 2000s!

It’s an episode we’ve wanted to do for years! If you’ve a regular listener -- and if you're here, you probably are -- you know that old Happy Meals come up pretty often. The hardest part was picking a bunch that we haven’t already talked about. It all worked out, though, because this was a chance to tackle some Happy Meals that don’t get a lot of love in the online nostalgia circuit.

The new episode should be on your main feeds now, but if you want the quick links, here it is on Spotify, or Apple, or if you prefer, here’s a direct link to the MP3.

(SPOILER WARNING!) If you want to learn more about our picks for this episode, visit the links below!

1. Spaceships & Glo Trons!2. McDonald’s Changeables!3. McDonaldland Junction!4. McDonald’s Lunch Bunch!5. Disney Masterpiece Collection!6. Stretch Screamers!7. Food Fundamentals!8. Transformers Happy Meal!

Thanks so much for listening, and for supporting us on Patreon! Up next is our May bonus show, so stay tuned, more Purple Stuff is on the way!

100% accurate that once you got to middle school it felt taboo to get one. Feel like unfortunately I aged out before a lot of the good ones came out. And yeah combo meals became the grown up thing to do

Dude! I used my Happy Meal lunch boxes to store my cassette tapes! They were the PERFECT size!

Mary!

Matt - your description of your beach attire as a teenager reminded me of a recent SNL sketch about a goth teen on vacation. Watch it if you haven't already!

I'll bet there are still Changeables in the kitchen junk drawer at my parents' house. Those must have been if not my very first Happy Meal toy then close to it. I can also remember giving my American Girl Doll some anachronistic McNuggets in her lunch pail, the size worked okay. Thanks for unlocking that memory, hadn't thought of that in ages!!

I thought o would take the time to post recommending a YouTube channel that shows old b-roll footage of times past. Including footage of grocery stores, department stores and fast food places like McDonald's. It's called Vampire Robot.

I’ve finally caught up to this episode and have paused it after the introduction to come here and tell you that the intro to this episode was amazing and you should win an award.
