No, we didn't forget about you! With hours to spare, The Purple Stuff Podcast is here with this month's bonus show! We're embarking on another one of our famous eBay dives, and this time, we went with a subject that we've deemed "somewhat summery."

Join us as we search eBay for the best and weirdest PEPSI PRODUCTS, covering everything from wacky toys to store displays to an expired phone card starring Amy from Congo.

If you'd like to see the auctions we discuss on the show, follow the links below -- for however long they last!

1. 1991 Movin' & Groovin' Diet Pepsi Can!2. 1995 Pepsi / Congo Phone Card!3. 1991 Playtime Pepsi Vending Machine!4. 1992 Pepsi / Doritos Inflatable Frankenstein!5. 1993 R2-D2 Pepsi Store Cooler!6. 1989 Computer Warriors Pepsi Can!

Pop a can of Pepsi, sit back, and relax with us for 40 minutes! Also, as an FYI, our regular "big show" for June has been recorded, but we'll need a few extra days to post it, because Matt had cat-related crises to handle this month. We appreciate your patience, and we think you're gonna love what we cooked up.

For now, enjoy the bonus ep, and thanks a million for continuing to support the podcast! We hope you're all figuring out ways to beat the heat and enjoy the summer!

Could you make it downloadable, so I can iPod it? Thanks, loves!

Can’t wait to hear what’s next on the big show, we’re slowly getting closer to spooky season!

"Go in and order a Pepsi. Here's a 50." Thanks for sticking to the plan. Hang in there, Matt! 💪

Kylee

I want to hear about the roadtrip to Aurora!

Ian Kyle

Awesome episode! I just got a Pepsi plexiglass insert from either a soda fountain or a store sign not sure which, but it’s def the early 80s logo version.

Frank Summers

I am nearly 100% positive a good friend of mine has that same R2D2 cooler, and more than a few years ago I was stunned when I saw it in person in his upstairs bedroom.

I've done some deep dives on eBay for Diet Coke stuff, but never pepsi stuff. Ok, I need to do a diet pepsi deep dive now. I love caffeine free pepsi and coke. I don't know what makes it magic, but it tastes so much better. Oh, I hope Baby halloween is better now.

Notorious HDP

The REAL Deep Dive on this one is that the Pepsi 'Drink it In' song was used in the movie Electric Dreams. Edgar the computer runs it backwards as part of his first try at the love song for Madeline. Hearing it in the episode gave me an immediate Pavlovian response. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5ynJalMXTA

I'm pretty sure we had either one of those dancing cans or the dancing flower (that shows up in the intro of an episode of "Full House").

Marie

Looking forward to listening! I agree that soda is a summertime topic--I think it's the only time of year I drink soda. Sorry to hear about the cat crises. I hope everything is good now! (I hope this isn't weird, totally unrelated beyond summer and nostalgia, but have either of you read the book "The Future Was Now: Madmen, Mavericks, and the Epic Sci-Fi Summer of 1982" by Chris Nashawaty? It's about the big game-changing films that came out that summer. I'm reading it for my book club and thought it might be relevant to your interests!)

Joe P

This should absolutely be a topic you return to! Not necessarily Pepsi branded gear every time, but soda promotions as a summer topic. Soda brands used to have great promos for the summer. Would be fun to revisit some of those. (Magic Cans, for one.)

Joe

Where's Juuuuune?

Jay Grover

I've said I'll pay owt... yet no fun packs for Sheffield (Algernon can get tae fuck).

As the child of a pastor, we visited a ton of people’s houses when I was a very young kid in the late 80s/early 90s, and I swear, every single family that had children had that Computer Warriors Pepsi can! I think my brother and I were the only ones who didn’t lol.

Electrolux

Hey. Found a 1992 commercial from some grocery store in the midwest featuring the big frank inflatables. Those things ARE huge.

Nick the Rat

i have had a lot Lavern and Shirleys aka pilk

Dan Schoening

How about mixing Root Beer and Milk? They did that on the show too, I believe. Never heard of the Computer Warriors before. Love 'em!
