We've gotten a bunch of requests for an "adventure" episode, and we're ready to deliver with this month's Patreon-exclusive Purple Stuff Podcast bonus show!

A week or so ago, we visited the Monster-Mania horror convention in New Jersey, looking to replenish our stashes of vintage horror junk. On this latest bonus show, we'll tell you all abut our finds, plus about our day at the convention. Come for the Poltergeist video disc... stay for the story about a trip to Dunkin' gone wrong.

This was an especially fitting show for August, as this month we're celebrating TEN YEARS of the Purple Stuff Podcast, and Monster-Mania is actually where we met for the first time! Thank you so much for supporting the show, and we look forward to spending another decade with you all, yapping about nonsense.

We're in total Halloween mode now, so next month we'll continue raining terror on your ears, both with a new regular show and another exclusive bonus!

saving this for when we go back to work tuesday

aaaaaah!!!!!!

Yay, I love episodes like this! I recently went back and listened to the all time classic "Minisode: The Hunt for Halloween Candles"

Derek McKnight

Happy anniversary boys! Love u and thanks.

Kylee

This episode sounds like it has it all!

Annie Davis

What a fun time, I feel like I was there! Congrats on ten years!! 🖤🖤

Jessy Hutchinson

Matt if it makes you feel any better, I paid $75 for a used mondo Halloween III score from a TX record store 🤷🏻‍♀️

Barry Dodd

Happy anniversary!!!

CED videodisc, the only format I won't collect besides cassettes. Those things had a stylus, and they are impossible to get these days. Might as well just go with laserdisc.

Shaun Anderson

Congrats on 10 years of the best nostalgia/ Halloween podcast!

TourmalineSea

You spoil us! 🩷🎃 every year I go back and listen to every Halloween-ish episode between August and October! You guys ARE the season, at least for me! Can’t wait to listen!

Thomas Backman

HAAAAAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!! Sorry the 'con was not 'all that'... You guys Really owe it to yourselves to come check out the TEXAS FRIGHTMARE WEEKEND! Happens Memorial Day weekend every year in Irving TX... It's a MONSTER! (You should stay at the WESTIN - but you've only got about 20 seconds to grab that room when they drop... NO BS. They're all gone in about 30 seconds - I see Mutants from all countries there every year!).

A tenth anniversary is as good an occasion as any to thank you guys for keeping it going for so long. The Purple Stuff started right around when my now-wife & I got together and it’s been a running thread through our whole relationship. Listening to episodes while making dinner together, marathoning the Christmas song episodes while driving around Arizona for the holidays, keeping us company in our apartment while we waited for our twins to be born during lockdown, listening to the Macy’s parade episodes on the trip from Brooklyn to Pennsylvania for Thanksgiving (first sharing headphones on the bus & then listening in the car in crazy traffic), listening to summer episodes on trips to the beach in Brigantine, and still going for us after a move across the country, as we explore our new home and hunt for seasonal junk around our new town. Love you guys and thank you for all the really fond memories.

Jay

Loved the episode, dare I hope for a return of the Halloween Awards this year?

Louie Romo

Congrats on 10 years!

Anita

ugh, yeah, I didn't go to any cons this Summer here in Richmond/Hampton Roads, VA just because they all looked so lame. Out here its just a weaboo fest every time :/ Don't even get me started on the vendor rooms. I wasn't aware of the filled ones I just thought nabisco made the regular ol chips ahoy vintage looking. I always order my dunkin like 20 minutes in advance, and they still make my iced cappuccino with two sugars wrong :( I know and love Luis from the I Love the __ shows vh1 used to do.

Jesse Dubinsky

Fright Flicks and Dinosaur Attack! cards were my manna as a kid. I used to hit MM twice a year plus a couple other random cons, but have scaled my con spending way back the last few years. A mix of rising prices, seeing the same people over and over (why i will always go to Chiller, they get really random people), getting older, just having too much stuff, etc, but love living vicariously through you guys.

Electrolux

After having been to so many cons over the years I now find it more enjoyable to get a table there and hang out for the weekend than go as an attendee. This is only economically feasible if you live close and don't have to rent a room for the weekend but I usually make a little money and sell off some things I don't want anymore. I am the weird table guy who looks like he raided his basement for merchandise. Last year I sold a Ground Round menu for $2.

Electrolux

Could we get the old, angry coffee guy as a guest next episode. I want to know his back story.

Alexis Copithorn

I really am happy to hear that someone else loves Halloween 3 as much as I do! Happy Anniversary 💜

Kylee

I was so trying to will a new episode to listen to while I do chores! 🎃

Splatterpunk

Totally unrelated to this episode, but I just noticed a bunch do old episodes are missing on Spotify? Is there a way to listen to them?

Derek McKnight

Just making sure I'm not having a senior moment. There hasn't been a show this month correct?
