Our latest "big show" is here! Since we had so much fun covering a bunch of ‘80s monsters on the last episode of the Purple Stuff Podcast, we decided to jump right into the sequel. Grab a flannel and a hacky sack or whatever, because we’re about to name Eight Great Monsters from the 1990s!

From television, toys, movies and even ice cream trucks, join us for an eighty-minute tribute to various vivacious beasts. Literally none of our picks could be termed as “predictable,” so if you like it when the PSP busts out the deep cuts, this Bud’s for you.

…which is also on Apple, Spotify, and wherever else you listen to podcasts.

We hope you find this new episode to be the perfectly terrifying way to ease into the 2025 Halloween season. Naturally, from now though October 31st, everything we cover will be somehow spooky!

If you’d like to learn more about the ‘90s monsters discussed on the show, follow the links below. Or, if you’d rather not be spoiled, frantically scroll up and pretend this part of the page doesn’t exist.

Great episode and perfect for intro to spooky season!

Of the Blurp Balls, I only had Sharky Skullsquirt as a kid, but man I loved that guy haha. Your timing of this episode is impeccable too, because Fred Olen Ray just a few days ago launched a campaign to fund Jack-O 2, thirty years later!

Splatterpunk

Oh yes!!! SO good! Split Second was great! I lost it when Matt mentioned the monster was like a 90's live action Venom because I'VE BEEN SAYING THAT FOR YEARS!!! Ever since I saw that movie on cable I was convinced that a live action Venom was possible! Now I need to go rewatch it! And Jack-O too!

I’m sure it will be another banger. Going to listen now.

I love you guys! Enjoying every upload to Sludge Central's Youtube channel, been really missing seeing new uploads from Matt on Dinosaur Dracula's Youtube channel. Any chance of Mad Matt appearing this spooky season?

I found Jack-O online but the shower scene had been heavily edited to cut out all nudity. I wanted to watch it 20 or 30 times (as I'm sure Jay did) so I could be uncomfortable too.

Mr. Swlabr always sends me down a trivia rabbit hole: * The voice of Mr. Swlabr was done by Rockets Redglare, who was a NYC punk/scene legend - he was with Sid & Nancy that infamous night at the Chelsea Hotel, roadied for Billy Joel, was Basquiat’s dealer, played the burping motel clerk in Big ... and eventually did the voice for a green slimy cereal toy come to life. * The word “swlabr” seeeeeems to come from an acronym from the Cream song “SWLABR (She Walks Like A Bearded Rainbow)" (the Wiki page can explain more than I can lol).
