If you missed it on the regular podcast feed yesterday, the Purple Stuff Podcast’s big holiday show is here, and we’ve picked an appropriately festive topic for the occasion. Join us for a 75-minute romp through the pages of the legendary 1987 Sears Wish Book!

You remember these catalogs, of course. In the ‘80s, they were as good as bibles. Featuring what felt like every single toy in the universe (and every single other thing in the universe), these retail tomes monopolized our attention every Christmas season, and gave us pleasant, greedy dreams all through December.

1987 was a particularly great year for the Wish Book, and we had a blast circling our favorite stuff for this yuletide podcast. We've got everything from cosmic knockoff Barbies to mutant G.I. Joe figures, and even a Cap'n Crunch treasure chest! If you didn't catch the new ep on your regular feed, here are the quick links:

…or find it on Apple, Spotify, and most others places where you listen to pods!

Coming up next from us is the December bonus show, and since that's also holiday-themed, we better get a move on! We'll be back before Santa's arrival with that, but for now, we hope you enjoy listening to us gush about an old Sears catalog! Happy holidays, everyone!

Among the many things I miss from the past, Sears Wish Book is way up on the list. I think it taught me as a child that wanting something is often more fulfilling than actually having it. Looking through those glorious pages over and over knowing you wouldn't get most of it but just enjoying the possibilities.

I'm a bit older than you two, so I can state emphatically that I hated, hated, hated Cobra-La. Hated every second of it. Hated the idea that anyone would think I'd be entertained by it. Hated the desperation to sell new toys that motivated it.

With God as my witness, I am going to to buy the Miami Dolphins NFL Huddles plush.

Does the Buffatron™ Beauty Bed come in human size?

Came for the catalog, stayed for the panties ad.
