I can’t believe I’ve never pretended a barrel drink was the life potion from Zelda. But at least I immediately recognized Bam Bam Bigelow’s NES theme music.

I always thought they looked like Donkey Kong barrels, so maybe my head was in the wrong game.

Just an FYI: The Macho Man NES Power mag cover we talk about, uh, doesn't exist. We were both fooled by a meme image that's been floating around forever. (However, a chalkline jacket based on that image really does exist!)

I cannot believe this is the episode where you finally bring up Little Hugs quarter drinks. I think about those gross little drinks all the time!

My older brother and I got the power glove for christmas when were little. We were pumped up because of the hype. But that thing was impossible for us play haha. Way more complicated than we thought. I could even sense the frustration from my dad trying it out. We spent 90% of the time just staring at it amazed we had it. The running pad was way more fun.

I remember when we got our NES for Christmas it was the best! Then the next day we had to take the gun back because the TV we had was too dark to register when playing Duck Hunt. Pleasure and pain…

Nolan Hanson

My brother is nine years older than me, so I had the benefit of growing up with all the NES stuff. I used to put on the Power Glove and pretend to be Robocop.

I finally finished this episode whilst barricading the outside of my house against a relentless Critters-esque squirrel. Thanks for getting me through that ordeal. Regarding the barrel drinks, I like this idea of associating something unofficial and unrelated with a favorite licensed toy line, incorporating it into your play. This Sonic Fazer served as a "bootleg" Han Solo/Stormtrooper blaster for me for decades, even after I'd chewed through the 9V battery wires. https://www.ebay.com/itm/143723955797

ok, so I'm not the only one who noticed that prices of old 90s youth generated magazines in general have skyrocketed on ebay since the pandemic started. Six issues of sassy be going for $500 lately.
