Bonus Show: 1991 Kenner Action Toy Guide! (Patreon)

Time for our final bonus show of 2021! Actually, this month we’re kicking off what might become a series of bonus shows, yanking out highlights from those old Kenner Action Toy Guides.

You gotta remember those! They were the full-color booklets that came packaged with larger Kenner toys. Each one showed off the particular year’s hottest Kenner playthings. As we talk about on the show, sometimes those teensy catalogs were more fun than the toys they came with!

For this show, we’ll be focusing on the 1991 Kenner Action Toy Guide, which you can take a look at over here, thanks to Shogi’s Toy Catalog Scans. (A great resource!)

We plucked out our four favorite things from that catalog, including:

- Bill & Ted’s Most Excellent Motorcycle!- The Robin Hood Sherwood Forest Playset!- The Real Ghostbusters Ecto-Charger Pack!- Swamp Thing’s Swamp Trap Playset!

Enjoy! If you dig this concept, let us know, and hopefully we’ll do more of these for future bonus shows. In the meantime, we wanted to wish all of you a very happy new year. We look forward to monopolizing your ears in 2022!
