Well, we knew we had to deliver an epic episode since it was going up so late, and we think we've succeeded. Our latest BIG show is live, and it's a tribute to ALL THINGS SPOOKY from McDonald's!

We're considering this the official launch of The Purple Stuff Podcast's 2023 Halloween season. From now through the end of October, we're all ghosts, all the time!

And what a way to start. This hour-long episode covers eight frightful & fantastic things from McDonald's history. We strove to avoid just making it a list of super obvious stuff, so get set for some deep cuts!

The episode should be on your normal feeds now, but if not, here it is on Spotify, or Apple, or if you prefer, here's a direct link to the MP3.

If you’d like to learn more about the topics we’ll be discussing, follow the links below. (Or if you’re avoiding spoilers, hide your eyes!)

Great episode! I wasn’t sure why McD and Halloween go together so well in my memories, but this episode helps it make sense.

You need to get some of the McDonald's Halloween happy meal Crazy Bones figures from I think 1997. I put them on display each season. So ready for fall! 🎃

Yay!! 🎃

Woop! Happy (mid to late summer to harvest/fall) Halloween! 🎃🦇👻

This is a good one! Was listening in the living room and my family got into it too. Looking forward to all the spooky season podcast you guys come up with!

I passed up that board game at a thrift store a couple years back because it was so huge! Loved the bit bemoaning why happy meals just didn’t do simple action figures—I was of the same mindset my whole childhood. Bummer that they didn’t figure (haha) that out til I was already checked out with those Power Rangers movie ones.

Great episode as always!!! I loved the part about Evil Grimace. (Early McDonald's commercials were weird...) I don't know if you have already chosen all of the topics for your upcoming Halloween shows, but if you're looking for off-beat, obscure stuff, there's a short film I saw in elementary school called "Winter of the Witch" (from 1969). A witch makes...ahem..."magical" pancakes for her guests that make everyone happy. Burgess Meredith narrates it. I'd also recommend "Transylvania Television": an adult puppet series where a group of monsters resurrect old TV shows via the same device used to activate Frankenstein's monster. Lots of references to B horror movies are in that one. Anyway, you guys rock!!! Keep up the excellent work!

I'm hoping mcdonalds brings grimace back for the holidays. I don't know in what capacity they could put him in, but I want a reprise.

Electrolux

Grimace had an uncle named O'Grimacy. Not sure if was killed in the rebellion or migrated to Australia, but he existed. What a large, talented family.

Electrolux

O'Grimacy was Irish of course. Were there other Grimaces (Grimici?) spread all over the world?

Electrolux

Grimace-San, Herr Grimace, Alfredo Grimace, Abdalla Grimace, Senor Grimace...

James Mc Gill

I absolutely love this episode. I guess I'm one of those three people who loved Gravedale High.

I’m sure you guys saw that a Brooklyn McDonald’s will be having a 1982 makeover…. Looking forward to that podcast!
