Well here we are with a video to talk a bit about how to I cast on for one of these baby blankets. I use a provisional cast on, and I'm using a different one than last time, thanks to a message I left myself.

Turns out Past Stephanie really loves me. In any case I'm beavering away on this thing now and I've just about finished the centre. It took a while to get this little film done since my sound editor and all round technical help still only has one arm -though he's at the clinic today hoping to get downgraded to a smaller cast at least. Cross your fingers for him, goodness knows he can't do it.

I have fantastic and wild dreams that in the next few days I'll have picked up the stitches all the way around and have picked up the stitches held on that provisional cast on. We'll see how it works - it's so tiny and so light coloured, I've got to find myself a nice, brightly lit spot to do it.

Thank you! It is fun to see the process behind these beautiful baby blankets! I have used the crochet provisional cast-on many times (originally I was a crocheter, as was my maternal grandmother). I'd be interested in hearing more about the provisional cast-on methods that don't result in being "off" half a stitch, I somehow can't wrap my head around how you can not be off (a failure of my imagination, I am sure!!).
