"Gordon Bennet!" Is a minced oath of "God Damnit!" I imagine. My grandma says "Dam and plaster the muddy bucket!" Instead of a long string of curses. The syllables are pretty cathartic.

I wasn't aware that the German proverb "As itchy as an Ostrogoth in a nunnery" ("So fickrig wie ein Ostgote im Nonnenkloster") had made it all the way to Australia. Respect for including such an obscure cultural reference.

ASA sounds like a bait car, but for poachers, so it's ok?

Albuquerque resident here. I have not participated in the activity, but would opine that in a hot air balloon, any landing is an emergency landing. I live right next to a city-managed open space, which sounds nice except it’s full of cactus and goatheads. During last year’s balloon fiesta I was driving to work one morning and watched as a balloon from the fiesta, buffeted on the whims of the wind, landed directly in a huge patch of the kind of prickly pear with really nasty long thorns.

I know you're saying "Minced Oath" but my brain says "Minced Oaf" like an insult, or possibly an obscure slur.

I would be ok with a condensed version of the comedian of the week if it will be more likely to be used when it is called for

around 3:55, Ben says "if you're listening to this episode from the year 2025," and I am doing that!! Amazing!
