So I never really speak about it online but I've been in a relationship for almost a year now, with a dude who’s been one of my best friends for a long time :) (he's funny, you'd like him). For a long while before I didn't really feel like a relationship person, certainly not someone that went out of their way to be in one.. so this song is about the moment I realised HECK. I'm someone’s frickin girlfriend now. And it's cool, it feels right, just different. The 'fist fight' idea was less about fighting with the other person and more about an internal wrestle; my old lone-wolf self coming to terms with being in something more settled ! eek.

The second main aspect of the song is about celebrating the unique flaws of any relationship. This boy & I can both be suPER annoying, we drive eachother absolutely mad at times. We rarely fight in a serious way but when we do, helllll we can really wind each other up.. after chatting to friends and family, folks who had been in relationships for 4 years or 40 years, it turns out this is pretty daaaamn common. I guess if the good in it is really good, it's worth any blips along the way. "you got me punching walls every other day, but I wouldn't have it any other way."
