Orla I feel the same way when I have access to people I would love to have on my podcast(s), but instead I don't "go producer on them" I just talk to them like the people they are. =_) I always feel sleazy doing it, if it comes up.

A lot of Guinness would leave me pretty mellowed out, too. Loved Lifeline. The Voice is fun to watch... but the sound they go for isn't you. Too overly slick. On the other hand, exposure doesn't mean you have to stop doing what you're doing on "this" side of the music industry. Ask Lindsey Stirling, who was crushed on America's Got Talent (I believe by Simon Cowell). And she does world tours now. Not that that's necessarily what you want to do, but if you could increase your fan base a bit making a living doing this suddenly becomes more plausible. So I wouldn't say "never". Just on your own terms if you ever do it. Go into it with the right attitude. Not to win, but to do your best and have people see and hear you and be gracious and your affable self. On the advice of a friend, I took Dec Cluskey's "How to Make a Million in the Music Industry". He also seems like a very nice guy (albeit with an ego the size of a small planet), with some very good advice, but it quickly became apparent that how you do it is pretty much sell your creativity completely out and make crap you don't like and just sling it out like bangers and mash in a food-line until something sticks and do it again and ... bleah. Not only do I not have the talent for it, I don't have the stomach for it. But nice chatting with him. At any rate, I made it to the end of your ramble, and good job, that was very personal and I think that a lot of people here feel a stronger connection because you do stuff like this. Keep making music. We'll keep listening.
