honestly, just taking a shower and putting on clean pajamas and clean sheets on my bed can make a big difference, then sometimes a sad movie and crying can be good, but comedy specials and comedy panel shows are nice if i'm not in the mood to cry

i have this collection saved on instagram called ‘brighten your day.’ and any time i’m scrolling and see something that is cute or makes me smile i put it in that collection. then on a bad day, i go through them and they truly do make me smile. also little breaks in my routine help, like going to a different coffee shop, making myself a playlist, or waking up a little earlier so i have time to relax and watch tv! be gentle with yourself, we all have those days xx

Hope your day improved. Sorry i wasn't able to offer any useful advice but I date back to a time when the best treatment for any kind of feelings was considered to be electrocution and/or a very cold shower (neither of which i would recommend)

Sometimes you just have to accept that your brain isn’t working that well for that day 🤷‍♀️. It’s like if you woke up in the morning with a really bad cold or stomach flu, there’s only so much you can do to feel better before you accept that you just have to have a sick day that day. The same thing applies to your mental health, sometimes all the cups of tea and doggo’s can’t help and you just have to give yourself the day to be sad and lie in bed and try again tomorrow! 🙂

what did one hat on a hat rack say to the other?

I try to get out of my all-consuming negative thinking spiral in which I tend to get stuck on those days. Most of the time I first give myself some time to let the feeling be but with the notion that I’ll do something else afterwards and that knowledge then helps me to really take that moment and expierence what I’m feeling, usually along to some good music. And if I told myself I was going to do smt about it afterwards I mostly get a feeling of “okay that was enough and relieving and somehow even satisfying” (? Wierd but true) like the allowing myself to feel is really nice. Then I distract myself preferably by moving, like taking a walk or longboarding or yoga or anything that I feel up to that day. And/or I meet up with friends to play games or just go out and have a drink somewhere. It doesn’t completely resolve all the load of the negative feelings but it does rip me out of that self toxic thinking spiral. I would very much like to say that watching series helps for me too, but honestly it sometimes isolates me instead while that wasn’t what I needed, other times it does help me calm down and distract myself but usually once I quit watching I feel just as sad as before and sometimes even more lonely. Hope you are something with this advice and that you have a better day tomorrow!!

I don't believe it. Sixty-plus comments and nobody's said it yet... CHOCOLATE!

It's a day late, but I hope you're feeling okay. We all have shit days, and it's okay not to feel okay. I hope you know how much we all love you! And it's not a conditional love - we don't stop loving you if you feel uncreative! I think that's what I've sometimes struggled with in my own creative mediums, thinking that love is conditional? But then I think about how much I love other creatives and I realise how silly I'm being. Anyway, I hope you feel better soon! I make myself the simplest "to-do" list where it's super easy for me to cross things off and feel like I'm managing to do things ...
