heavy times (Patreon)

Hey secret demo club gang. How are you?

So I was meant to be releasing a song today, a song called ‘heavy’ that some of you on here may know; it started as part of my ‘idea a day for the month of may’ last year and appeared in its entirety as a later demo. It’s all done now, a piano & vocal song with a few swirling synths and a string part written by my friend dodie.

I pushed the release of ‘heavy’ back a few days because the world is metaphorically (and literally) on fire this week and.. I dunno. It just feels like a weird time to be self-promoting. I haven’t wanted to BE online, let alone shout my name into the void and put my sad song out. aNYWay, it’s now coming out next wednesday, the 15th, no going back. and arguably the world could feel even more on fire next week, and I’ll just go ahead. and arguably when the world is on fire we need new art and ideas more than ever.. but it’s harder to feel that way when it’s your own!?

So that’s what’s up. I’m going to start teasing the release this weekend and announcing it properly to the world on monday/tuesday, and out on Wednesday. I don’t have a music video for this song but my friend Ryan and I did shoot a cool lyric video, projecting the words on my bedroom wall.. could I ask you guys a favour? We shot 2 slightly diff variations (just the same thing from 2 different angles..) and I can’t decide between them. Could u guys have a quick watch and let me know in the comments which you prefer, 1 or 2? I know there isn’t a huge difference, I just can’t decide.

Love you guys a whole lot. Seriously, when I take an internet break it’s so nice to have this other part of the internet, full of the people who care most. :)
