hey. so as you guys know from my post a few days ago I've been working on a lil song called 'the things that I've learnt' - attached here if you missed it!

I'm working on it again today and writing more verses, and was wondering if anyone had any lyric ideas to contribute - what is one thing that you've learnt, that you wish you could tell your younger self? it could be something deep, something silly, something complex, something simple. just one thing you wish you were armed with earlier in your life! leave any ideas in a comment below & I'll keep you updated on the song..

It's so lovely reading what everyone is saying <3 For me, the biggest ones are: that sometimes (often, even) you don't mesh with someone and you won't be friends and that's okay, that's neither of your faults and it doesn't mean you aren't good or interesting enough or that they are mean. That even if you don't know how to respond to an unpleasant situation you can just get up and walk away from it, no need to explain or try to convince people to change. That it's okay to do things your own way (especially creatively), even if that's not what you see others doing, even if that's not what successful people are doing, if it speaks to you then it's worth exploring. And that the world is as much mine as it is anybody else's.

don't let fear stop you from saying yes to an opportunity. you don't know how well or how bad you'll do if you don't do it at all. you might have been amazing at it but you'll never know until you try. there are so many cool things you could've done and life could've been so different had you said yes to a few things. but you know that now so stop letting fear stop you from future opportunities. also some people aren't your friends. even if it was easier to have "friends" in high school than to be lonely wasn't totally worth it at all because you got hurt in the end. it's better to be alone sometimes so it's okay to not have any close friends in high school because you have close friends online too. you'll learn to cope better and you'll do things that make you happy even though they're a bit scary. you should've stuck with learning all the instruments you took lessons in. you like to be creative, but you don't know how to play any instruments well because of that. you could've been so much cooler. you're just mediocre cool right now. don't assimilate just to fit in. you've lost a lot of your first language and appreciation for the culture because of that. i don't think it was worth it even though you were only 7 and trying to not be the freak who just moved here. stop buying so much crap. it takes too much space and you'll forget about it so your room is just a dust collector and a waste of money.

you know what’s best for you. I’ve spent 20 years listening to what people think that I should do with my life and now I’m in student loan debt and going to a college that I don’t want to go to. Make your own decisions regardless of what the consequences will be. You will regret it less in the end because you know it was you who brought you down that path and not anyone else. Possible lyrics: they held the keys to my consequences laughing at me standing defenseless. Should I do what I’m told or tell them what I will do?

Two things: It's never too late to start something new or become what you want to be, and there will always be another love. I learned the hard way not to settle for what I thought would be the best I could get in love.

Everyone has something that troubles them, and that means that we all have that in common. No need to be ashamed of your problems

That time really does make things easier. What causes intense chest pain and heartbreak one day, eventually gives way to a mild heartache, a pang of regret, and eventually a melancholy memory with no pain attached. What feels permanent and painful today will just be a painless scar in the future.
