hi Orla, this sounds like a really awesome song! I think it would be particularly cool to go back and forth between comparing the social media/digital reality sensory overload to the going back out into the world reality, because in my experience, both have been and will be separate sensory overloads of their own. On the one hand, upon everything shutting down I've started to spend a lot more time than usual on social media/my phone (I think my daily screen time has gone up to an all time high record of about 8-9 hours, which is kinda embarrassing) or watching movies & TV as ways to distract myself from what's actually going on, or even just the sensory overload of watching the daily news and then becoming so overwhelmed and inundated with bad news that you have to stop looking at it entirely. And then like you said, on the other hand, the sensory overload that will accompany stepping out into the real world again is definitely going to be pretty crazy - I'm super anxious yet slightly nervous to see my friends again, and the thought of one day going back to a concert or traveling by train is almost too crazy and wonderful to feel like it could happen again (even though it ultimately will.) Just some food for thought though! I hope you're staying afloat and taking good care of yourself.

hi first of all: super cool song, can't wait to see how this one turns out! i particularly enjoy your more dynamic songs so i'm excited :) i feel like lockdown in germany hasn't been as big of a thing as it has been in the uk (at least for me). a big part is probably that the difference between non-lockdown/lockdown is much more prominent when you live in a big city like london, compared to my small town. where i will feel a sensory overload is probably when we're allowed to see a lot of friends at once again. i've become very comfortable in not going out, not seeing many people except over zoom. i always know that i'll have a good time when i meet up with friends but sometimes i just don't feel like it beforehand. and i think it comes from being comfortable and secure in my home with the same 2-3 people where i know exactly what i can expect. stepping out of the comfort zone, even if it's just a little, is scary! so i think this thing will become even more prominent once the bigger gatherings start again. a sensory overload of people and their voices and excitement over getting together again.

Orla, this is so sick!! As I'm slowly coming out of quarantine, I find myself overwhelmed in a way by things that used to be normal -- like eating at a restaurant, and seeing my friends, and honestly I can't even imagine life at university once I go back in August. I definitely think of the world differently now, and I think this will change the world forever!

I really love this vibe and that you shared it immediately, thank you ! I think going back to our lives will cause so much internal conflict (and the sensory overload you’ve identified). Desperate to reconnect and hug friends and family (but should we ?), desperate to sit in a bar or cafe and chill (but can we, what if someone coughs ?), wanting to go out and shop (but does it really matter, all those material things ?) having to be anxious about the state of the house again (when “no visitors allowed“ meant that was one thing not to worry about), loving being out in nature again but having to hide your smile behind a mask sometimes. Is it just me or was the sky more blue, the sun more present and didn’t the birds sing louder when we all stopped still for the first few weeks ? X

Hi I know I’m late to this, but in case you are still looking for different perspectives here is mine. I’m introverted and battling depression and anxiety, so the lockdown was not really a hardship for me. But in Denmark thing’s are opening up again, and I went back to work yesterday. So to be honest I’m feeling the sensory overload all right, I’ve been so tired today that I could barely get out of bed. I had a day off luckily but I’m dreading tomorrow’s workday. Suddenly I have to interact with people in real life again and in many ways I feel more awkward than I did before. So yeah it’s been a real trip. I’m so tired What if I’m just not wired To be productive every day Can I please still sleep, now

So here in Germany restrictions are eased a little and I have been seeing some friends. The fucked up thing is, that for me the joy of being with people I love is now inevitably tied to fear. Fear of me risking their health or the other way around. And as much as I hope that our world changes after this, I hope that I can look at my friends soon and only feel love again.

Living in America is like being gaslit by the government. It's not safe to do much yet but people are acting like it is. I just don't know what safe is anymore and who I can trust, really. It's so, so scary. The only thing keeping me from completely falling apart is the prospect of a vaccine in 2021. Also, the election, god, I'm terrified. If you're American and you read this PLEASE VOTE!!! When I get out I hope to hug my friends, parents, etc. Tell my college advisor that he means the world to me and I wouldn't have graduated college without him, and sit in a cafe crammed with people. Please do continue to work on this song. It's awesome so far!

My life has completely changed from the lockdown and this song is so perfectly simple at describing the emotions that come with that. Huge.

Definitely changed my perspective of life. I enjoy some of the new aspects of the lockdown like lining up for supermarkets, lovee less people in the shops. When the rona does one, I feel like I want to do more with my life, visit more places, more gigs more everything.
