HEY SECRET DEMO CLUB - a wild demo appeared ! an attempt to distract you in these ever-wild times. this is a song about my family.. about the traits we inherit from our parents and the traits they inherited from their parents.. about acknowledging that passing down but knowing also that you're your own person, and u can break that chain too. does that make sense? (ps: there are some soundbites hidden in this song taken from some old camcorder tapes I got digitised recently. listen closely and you'll hear 3-year-old Orla's incredibly Irish accent)/
as always, I'd love to know what you guys think. :)
lyrics:
I think it’s kinda fun to trace it
back to where it all began
back in dublin, in the kitchen
up late talking to my mam
she was standing by the oven, a strong and stoic woman
I saw her as an equal, as a friend
I saw myself inside her, a sobering reminder
we all become our mother in the end
you can leave it all behind
skip a beat in the bloodline
you’ve been hiding all your life, it’s time
to skip a beat in the bloodline
when I think about the future
it’s someone flipped a switch
I can almost see the picture
and then it all just starts to glitch
and we’re living in the city
sitting watching tv
ordering in food on the weekend
the radio is blaring
then we turn into my parents
it goes dark, and then it starts, then it starts again
(chorus)
I! don’t wanna runaway
but
you! you don’t get me
I! keep it all in
cause we never talk about difficult things
