The flight to Indonesia and SE Asia is long but you can break it up! In my experience, the cheapest flights fly out of JFK. Fly to LAX, LAX to Narita (Japan). Take ANA Airlines to Jakarta. To this the day I swear by ANA airlines. I was in coach and they treated us peasants like royalty. They give you hot steamed towels with Eucalyptus. One guy was sleeping during meal service, and the attendant saved his meal and brought it out to him when he woke up! Talk about class. lol.
