In this video, we will finally complete Kyokubiki, and learn the final phrase that leads into Kakimawashi. In Pattern A, tremolo is also included, so let's review the technique once again.

Pattern B is similar to the end of Rokudan. However, please focus on properly playing Bachizuke right before Kakimawashi.

Let's combine the phrases you have learned in the previous Kyokubiki lessons to create your own composition!

Basics | Tremolo - 基礎レッスン｜トレモロ

今回の動画でいよいよ曲弾きが完成です。ラストはかき回しに繋ぐフレーズになります。Aパターンはトレモロも出てくるのでやり方を再度確認してみましょう。Bパターンは六段の終わりに似ていますが、かき回し前の撥付けがしっかりできるよう意識してみてください。

Vocabulary List

Kyokubiki - performing a piece on the shamisen alone, with no singing - Tsugaru Jongara Bushi is often referred to as ‘Kyokubiki’

Tuning - to adjust the pitch of the Shamisen

Sukui -  producing sound through upstroke of the bachi

Tataki - to strike a string and shamisen body with bachi to produce sound

Tsubo - positions on Sao (shamisen neck) that indicate where to hold strings with the string-hand fingers to determine musical scale of sound

Bachizuke - to create rhythm by using Maebachi and Ushirobachi

Ushirobachi - to strike bachi at the lower part of shamisen body (closer to the Koma)  to produce a change in sound dynamics and rhythm

Maebachi - to strike bachi at upper shamisen body (closer to neck) to produce a change in sound dynamics and rhythm

Kakimawashi - a phrase that is used for ending of the song to stir up the crowd by changing repeated Chiri-tere to 030030. It is also called "Kamashi"

Chiri-tere - a phrase that is played through Tsubo position 4300 with combination of Sukui and Hajiki

曲弾き（きょくびき） - 唄が入らず三味線だけで一曲演奏すること

調弦 - 三味線の音程を調整すること

スクイ - おろしたバチを糸の下から上に向かってすくい上げて音を出すこと

叩き（たたき） - バチで糸と皮を叩くようにして音を出すこと

ツボ - 音程を決めるために左手の指で弦を押さえる棹(さお) の場所のこと。１~２０まである

バチ付け - 前撥・後ろ撥を使ってリズムを出すこと

後ろ撥（うしろばち）- 三味線の胴の後ろの方 [駒（こま）に近い方] で音を出すこと

前撥（まえばち） - 三味線の胴の前の方 [棹（さお）に近い方] で音を出すこと

かきまわし - 曲のエンディングでチリテレを繰り返して盛り上げる時に030030に変化させて使うフレーズ。かましとも言う。
