You know those interactive keychains you often see sold at cons with a little loose item(s) in the middle that you can rattle and play with? This idea hit me square between the eyes last night and I absolutely need to make it real 😂

I'm totally dating myself here, but in case the reference goes over your head, a popular little toy of the 90's was called Tamagotchi and amongst the first digital pets. They're now considered retro and nostalgic:

(honestly, what if I did a handful of commissioned custom ones with various characters/fursonas? Imagine getting to torture/enrich your friend or partner's sona by giving them a shake in their little domain LOL)

Alright alright, that's enough horsing around, back to the tablet, you! 💥🧹

I feel like Domagatchi is necessary now; the wordplay works too well ahaha

You know, this got my imagination going. Not sure if you are talking about a single, static picture or what, but my mind went to more complex options. Not even a suggestion, honestly, just need to unload these ideas somewhere! 1) Some kind of 3-d printed casing with a little paper roll with different states for the character. (Hungy, Happy, Bored, etc) Roll a drum on the back with your thumb to change the character. 2) Way more complicated: An actual Tamogatchi-type digital character. Use an ARM board like a PI ZeroW2, or, if you must keep the board square, a nano pi NEO Air. Then attach a screen like the WaveShare 1.3" LCD (it has buttons included). You could define a format for the characters, so you have a template. Then different characters could be written to the microSD card and the Subbagotchi could load the customized character off of the SD.

You 🫵 you understand the vision LOL

This def seems interesting and right up your alley with the kind of work you like to do.

So cute! Though I think customizing them for a commission may be a bit tedious unless you're up to do all the intricate assembly of them and can make them without a 3rd party print involvement.

I was one of the kids with little Digimon I had to look after. XD
