Patreon now stinging you for the service fee (Patreon)

Hey guys, 

I just got this in my inbox, thought you should know asap. As a creator, Patreon takes 5% of pledges, and then Payoneer/Stripe etc will take another 5-6% for processing, meaning creators usually get about 89% of pledges. Now they're passing that second charge onto you. What this means is they'll charge more for each pledge.

I think that's bollocks, as 89% is something I accepted as part of using Patreon, and it will turn people off making multiple small pledges (since now Patreon are charging per transaction).

for example (excluding VAT):

Before - You give 8 different creators $1 each: You spend $8 

After - You give 8 different creators $1 each: You spend $11.03

So you get stung for an extra $3.03 (a whopping 38% of the original pledges in this case!). That sucks. 

(Check my maths! Each donation costs 2.9% of $1, + 35c => 2.9c + 35c = 37.9c per transaction. 8 transactions is $3.03)

Anyway, with the holidays closeby and pledges costing more, please look after yourself first and don't worry about us!
