Salutations, Retronauts patrons! Diamond Feit here, happy to deliver unto you our monthly community podcast chock full recent releases and news and your feedback. Stuart Gipp is here as well, as the two of us take turns sharing what we've been up to and tease what episodes you can look forward to in the coming months.

I know this happens a lot on our regular podcast, but funnily enough, Jupiter announced a new Picross game this week less than 24 hours after we recorded this episode. Guess you know what I'll be playing in June now: Namco-themed number puzzles!

Thank you again for supporting our program and leaving so many comments. We've got a new community question for you and I think it's an odd one!

A Retronauts Memorial Day at the beach with the soothing sounds of Diamond and Stu.

Will have something to listen to on my flight this week. Anyway QotM: as I watch way too much shonen anime I know the best solution for healing items are of course bandages. Stick one on any injury (be it stab wound, missing limbs, the side of your head being burned off) and a simple band-aid will solve all your problems.

Thanks for the great picross recommendation! (And the show notes because I'd totally missed the name!) I'm glad to see Jupiter doing stuff outside of Nintendo because their user interface is the best! QotM: I'm imagining a player selects "Heal" and the character's father appears in a flashback bubble with random wisdom like "Quit crying you baby", "Just rub some dirt on it", and "You probably deserved it". Then the character wipes his teary eyes with his forearm, his face straining to conceal the obvious pain, and then the battle continues on.

Can't believe shouting out my blog has become a Stu bit. Can die happy now. Re health items: those forehead patches Arino wears on Game Center CX that enable him to keep playing for hours and hours. Just keep applying them until your character looks like a metholated mummy.

QotM: Most games are either rooted in fantasy or sci-fi, and have ample room for some kind of narrative-appropriate healing resource, but in games where you're just a guy/gal in a more grounded world, having semi-regular hospitals pop up to visit just seems right. With maybe the quality going from big medical facilities to pharmacies to back alley veterinarians as the game takes you through worse areas.

There's nothing wrong with your party carrying around snacks such as "CHEESE WHEEL" and "BUTT PEACH SODA" like in Omori.

Stu have you ever seen Syd Barrett around in Cambridge when he was alive?

Great rapport! Always love these episodes.

My favorite game health item is the stimpack from the Fallout series. It’s a big needle full of atomic medicine, simple and effective. Also answering last months question I generally don’t care about spoilers and sometimes appreciate them. I was spoiled on The Last of Us Part 1 ending and still enjoyed the game. I then learned about the big plot twist in Part 2 and decided I want nothing to do with that game. I would have been very angry had I ran into that in-game.

Re: spoilers I disagree with the commentor that said spoilers of surprise gameplay or boss mechanics are fair game. Often those are worse to me than plot spoilers! As an example: what you need to do at the end of Portal 2 was spoiled for me in advance, and as a result felt... well, I felt nothing when I did it. Re: health-restoration iconography I don't really give a damn that food is silly. Games could stand to have more levity nowadays.

I work in the surgery dept of a hospital, so I can confidently say that the best healing item would be a complete surgical staff: surgeon, anesthesiologist, nurse and surgical tech. Stuff that in a wall and hit it with a whip for ultimate healing accuracy. If a heart represents the healing power of love, then I will accept that too. Also mom spit. That shit can heal the most intense cases of ouchies and booboos.

Diamond: "Listeners, do not give Stuart your baby." Me: "OK, but what if he gave me his?"
