I hope you're not exhausted after Friday's Retronauts Radio because this is another lengthy podcast filled to the brim with emotion, energy, and editorializing. Three Es, see what I did there? E3 may be dead and buried but every video game company still announces projects by the truckload in June, hence we have over 90 minutes of news to discuss—"we" being myself (Diamond Feit) and Stuart Gipp.

Specific items mentioned in this episode include:

Knicks!!

Bing Bong: Origins

I exaggerated: Pong came out in late 1972 and the Knicks won in May 1973

Stu: All Evercade carts will eventually die. But then all physical media will eventually die. And so will we all. So far both I and all my Evercade carts are still doing fine, though.

Patrick McClafferty

QotM: the game franchise I want a recreation of myself to be featured in is a Zelda game. Make me part of the straw millionaire quest line, preferably as the asshole that has a timed element to my item.

Jonathan Kade

QotM: I would be open to being in a range of video games after I die, but in particular Inkle can do anything they want with my name and likeness even while I am alive.

K-S-O

I made myself a Mii Fighter in Smash Bros. So technically my likeness is already in a series I like. For my serious answer, I would like to see myself in a Rhythm Heaven mini-game. I am not sure what role I would play but it would be awesome if that happened.

Langdon Alger

Stuart you're friends with Bob and out here making family guy references?! For shame

Looptron

To add more insult to injury with the Tupac stuff, at the end of his life, Tupac did not like Snoop. When Tupac died, he was on the outs with Dre and Snoop. In reality, he was a theater kid so I could see him giving video games a try but not like this and not with Snoop involved. The FF Resonance game is a self-contained version of their Brave Exvius gacha game that shut down a few years ago. I think it still has a good story worth playing. Unfortunately I dont think we'll get Ariana Grande 😅.

Jason J

QoTM: Random NPC in Goat Simulator. My son loves that game and he could ragdoll me around for eternity.

Andrew O.

Hurray for Diamond attending LIRGE! Boo for Stuart not making it this year! Looking forward to it, especially Diamond's trivia which was fun last year.

PurpleComet

Diamond, you could appear in an Resident Evil game as a merchant ala RE4 and 8. They can't be killed AFAIK and appear throughout the entire adventure. Every time you show up your kids will either be thrilled they can restock on supplies or angry they can't afford the newest upgrade. Frequently they'll be both! Personally, my answer would be someone similar to the merchant, by which I mean a mysterious person who seems to exist outside the rules of the in-game world. Gilgamesh from the Final Fantasy series is another example of this, as he appears in multiple games but each time it's the same guy hopping across dimensions. Basically every time I appear in the game I want to the player to walk away thinking "What's the deal with that guy?" If had to choose one series to appear in it would be Final Fantasy

Renaissance 2K

When I'm gone, please make me an NPC in Jones in the Fast Lane so I can spend eternity telling people that "our soup of the day is Cream of Taco."

littleterr0r

Stu, if you like shooting things, there's a Jurassic Park pinball game that uses a similar mechanism to the Die Hard one where you pull a gun-style trigger to shoot a velociraptor on screen.

Phoequinox

QotM: I would want to be a playable character in whatever the latest Smash is at the time of my death. Preferably, a joke character that moves like Ganondorf and hits like Sheik. The only real reason for my choice is to bring back the feeling of playing a Smash game and saying "Who the hell is that?"

Scary Scarewell

I just have to say that Stu's Spyro impression was legitimately on point

Guillermo Jiménez

QotM: Metroid. Specifically, give my likeness to Rod Aran to keep it morbid.

Wood Duck [Legacy Edition]

The wonderful game Atom Zombie Smasher by Blendo uses clips of an Australian woman's CB radio chatter for the helicopter-dispatch-unit voice barks in game. Even to a native speaker it sounds a bit bizarre and Simlish-ish. I work on a job using a load of radio comms (and lots of slang and foreign accents too) there's many times a day you have to sit and replay the last message in your head a couple of times before you work out what was just said and to whom. So I think it'd be fun to also end up as a set of mostly incomprehensible NPC voice barks in a game! [Oh also my name is silly now because the lovely Australian wood duck has shamefully been renamed to no longer share the name with the American species, thanks Obama]

Jane

Ok we get it, you two don’t like AI, but it’s not going away. Are you going to spend the rest of your lives and Every Episode complaining about it?

Jane

“Microsoft spends all this money on AI that no one wants to use”. Literally every office I walk into is telling me how it’s revolutionizing their business. Specific examples every time. People saving hundred of hours a year at their jobs. Sorry, it’s not even the future, it’s the present. Go work in an office and find out

DarthObvious

I wouldn't mind being in a golf game. Either Mario Golf or PGA Tour. I don't golf in real life, but I think that would be a great way to be remembered where you wouldn't have to worry about any kind of violence happening to you.

Nuno Amaral

QOTM: It'd be kind cool to see my fursona in Star Fox. I'm thinking my dad could be a tiger and my mom a stegosaurus. What a sweet Stego-tiga-saurus Boi I'd be. Nuno the "Star Fox Tax Auditor" Stego-tiga-saur Boi Amaral. So cool, so dreamy.
