We've talked about the World Warrior, we've talked about its many ports and revisions, now it's time to talk about All The Rest. Street Fighter II was so huge, it quickly spread beyond the world of games into other media. What kind of media? Let us tell you!

Diamond is your host on this journey to the 1990s as we run through the films, the cartoons, the comics, and even the original albums that sprung up in the wake of Capcom's genre-defining video game. Joining xem and sharing their collective expertise are Shivam Bhatt and Matt McMuscles, both of whom have loads of personal experience with the many interpretations of Ryu, Ken, Guile, Chun-li, and their...friends? Squadmates? Co-conspirators? They are many things, depending on the licensee...

Artwork this week comes from Leeann Hamilton with audio edits by Greg Leahy.

I'm from the West Coast so I always think West Coast Best Coast but a good East Coast one is East Coast Beast Coast.

I definitely think that the SFII anime film could carry its own Retronauts ep, but this was a cool discussion all the same. Good stuff

Great discussion Diamond, hope you get strap on the host boots some more going forward.

I used to play the crap out of the Ken and Guile themes from Nesshou!! Street Fighter II in my younger years. I think I found them randomly through IRC chats. However, I never was able to find the other tracks to see if they were just as fun to listen to. Now I can. Thank you, Diamond! Side note: Ken's theme is sung by Hironobu Kageyama, "Prince of Anime/Tokusatsu Songs". One of my favorite singers ever. Such a fun episode that sums up a lot of my experience growing up with Street Fighter. And it's awesome of Shivam to explain kabbadi. I never knew that Dhalsim's fighting style was considered kabbadi. The first time I even heard of kabbadi is when they made a recent anime, Burning Kabbadi.

The “Street Fighter II Ryu” manga was initially released in the US by Tokuma comics as eight single, colorized issues. It reads left-to-right, but unlike most LtoR manga which just flips the pages, the artwork was also flipped so that it actually reads correctly for English speakers. It was later retranslated and released by Udon in the late 00s in three standard, black-and-white manga tankoban volumes — volume 1 is all of the content found in the Tokuma issues, and volumes 2 and 3 continue the story. It’s a pretty fun story. The art is excellent. The Udon releases are long out of print and way too expensive on the secondary market, but the Tokuma issues are pretty easy to find and usually fairly inexpensive. It’s worth looking into.

I actually have that Phoenix Wright jazz album one of you guys brought up. It's awesome, and yeah I was baffled to find that it existed.

A little surprised there was no mention of the Legacy/Assassin's Fist projects. Really impressive adaptation with painstaking attention to detail; I don't think any live action adaptation can ever top it

As soon as they said Will Meugniot’s name I thought instantly of Dragonlance and how much I loved the property and he shat all over it. Perfect.

Excellent episode, I love how into it everyone is, it's a rare very high energy subject in Retronauts! The Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas has an authentic Street Fighter 2 pinball game for play, the game sucks and it's' got the TERRIBLE SNES box art style all over the marque, but man I everytime I go I have to put at least one quarter in it for novelty's sake.

I was loving the discussion about the Malibu comics, because my best friend at the time bought those and we laughed our asses off at the cancelation rant in the final issue. Much like Shivam said, I haven't read those comics since the '90s, but I remember these details vividly.

This episode was fantastic. Loved it. Also curious if this is the first ever full length Retronauts episode with neither Bob nor Jeremy?
