Right! You’ve all had your fun with Darkstalkers and whatnot, now it’s time to go back to school with stern taskmaster Stuart Gipp and mischievous but likable head boy, Dave Bulmer, as they explore the ridiculously esoteric world of edu-tainment software via the usual method of rambling anecdotes. Naturally the focus here is on a Very English Education, but the message is the same—pay attention in school and you too could grow up to be a Retronauts presenter!

A fun fact about this episode; there was a fairly lengthy tangent in the original cut that was so blatantly slanderous that Stuart humbly requested the entire thing be cut. It was the best part of the whole podcast, as well. Typical!

Disclaimer: this episode was recorded in an unprecedented England heatwave, so it may not contain any information nor be at all funny.

More edutainment directly into my veins, please and thank you.

Oh my word, I know Retronauts is all about nostalgia but normally it's not FORGOTTEN nostalgia. We had the frog and robot Fun School 2 on the Atari ST! Lots of other things I remember here - 3D Movie Maker, Creative Writer etc. Unless I missed it, there was disappointingly little on Granny's Garden, that most ubiquitous of edutainment titles in the late 80s/early 90s- perhaps something that deserves its own episode?

Played a lot of Math Rescue & Word Rescue growing up. Not particularly educational, but played a lot of a Fischer Price School Bus Driver game too, where you had to go around a map, pick up all the kids, and drop them off at school. At school in the library they'd have these living books games like Grandma & Me and Arthur's Teacher Trouble where you'd click everywhere and fun animations would happen. We also had a version of Carmen Sandiego too. At some point we'd all then mess around with Encarta 95 and the game in that too.

Loved this podcast! The intro sounds like a Time Crisis reference.

This is the second Retronauts in a row with a Prodigy reference so I'll repeat the comment I made on Diamond's podcast saying that they were my favorite band in the late 90s and that I was lucky enough to meet them before a show in Seattle.

This is such an unhinged episode and I am here for it!

I loved this so much for so many reasons, thank you! Was sorely hoping for some mention of Granny's Garden though. A BBC Micro text/graphic adventure we were made to play at school that was every bit as cruel and arbitrary as anything Infocom or Sierra could come up with at the time.

Mr. Zayler

I haven't heard of most of the things they talk about, but this truly is one of the best Retronauts episodes ever, endless laughs. Thank you Stuart and Dave!

I love these episodes, what a great addition to the Retronauts family. I never have ANY background knowledge on their topics (being from the states and all) but their rapport, humor and personality make these episode a must listen. Kudos.

My feeling is that through the dragons eye does not hold up as a show. Still remember how sad I was about those melting people.
