The previous week I worked on a bunch of tedious stuff for TOTDC 2. Small tweaks like finding, editing and trying sounds, polishing some old dialogues, re-organizing files under the hood, comparing some dialogues in the original with the stuff I am writing nowadays to see if I got the right feeling, editing some of the expressions I already have for the characters to create some new ones (I often did this for Caliross too, but I feel like I need more nowadays, perhaps because the main cast is larger, and I think I should expand my future commissions to include some extra expressions for main characters, actually).

I was delaying the post, thinking I'd wait until I got something cooler to share, but that wasn't a great idea. I did write some new dialogues this week, at least! Things are going a bit slower than I'd like, perhaps because Ren'py is more flexible, and there are more choices around every corner (plus, some of the ease of use that comes from a visual interface like in RPG Maker is missing).

Anyway, I'll try to do as much as I can, and hopefully I can hit the release for the demo before the end of October. The fact that I haven't started working on the quest yet is a bit worrying, but it shouldn't be a very complicated quest, so I think I should be fine, but we'll see.

Thanks everyone for the support as usual, and I'll see you guys next week! ^_^

Do you edit the drawings as well? By 'expressions', do you mean modifying how the faces are drawn, such as whether the character is smiling, serious or angry? Or does it simply refer to the tone in which the dialogue is written? 😅. P.S: By the way, every time I run a new patch with the Caliross executable, my antivirus triggers. It spends 15 seconds scanning the 'unknown app' and then shares the results with its database, notifying me that the file is safe, but that the app is highly unfamiliar. It's as if they add it to their whitelist because of me, it happens with every new version. By now, they’ve probably identified me as the weird Caliross player 🤣🙏.

Ah, sorry, I guess I wasn't clear enough. I meant editing the faces. Generally, I only do really simple stuff (like mixing the eyes/eyebrows of one expression with the mouth of another, for example). Sometimes, it's necessary to do some minor editing afterward, because they don't fit perfectly as is, since they aren't originally designed to do that. Other easy stuff I do is the "blank eyes" effect for hypnosis-related stuff, or blushing for certain facial if I haven't already commissioned them but I need them. Rarely, I do adjust lips or redraw the eyes to get a slightly different feeling, but I try to avoid that as much as I can and rely on my artist when things get too complicated. Apparently no antivirus expects RPG Maker VX Ace games in the year 2026, go figure! XD

Just to clarify, in case it wasn't clear, the antivirus always scans the downloaded installer, but the game can be launched without issue afterwards 😅.

Yeah, that's usually how it is with VX Ace, though I am not 100% sure as to why.
