THIS IS IT! The final* release for Waterdeep! After months of drawing thousands of tiny little boxes we have a complete map of all wards and the surrounding area.

*Over the weekend I will be putting together a mega-post that re-releases every Ward - so that everything is filled in around the ward and they aren't just floating in a sea of grey background. Here's what I'm aiming for:

Ward maps: 10px, 20px, and 300dpi ward maps; in unlabelled, labelled, and a "shaded" version (so the ward will appear normal, and everything outside the ward boundary will be a bit darker so it's easy to determine the boundary

Complete maps: 10px and 20px jpg and pngs of the whole city and surrounding area. I've also started putting together a 300dpi image....it's massive - beyond the limits of what png/jpg/webp supports; so it'll likely be in a format like tiff (or bigtiff). If anyone decides to get this printed out (I'd be honoured), any print shop should be able to work with tiff.

Tiled maps: if you are feeling bold and want to tile the city together in higher resolution - these maps will let you do so with straight cuts between the tiles so everything can be laid out easily.

Let me know if there is something else you think would be useful for your game and I will see if I can get it together!

Before that though, here's part 4:

Waterdeep. Countryside and Undercliff. The rural areas surrounding Waterdeep. A wide area of rolling grassland filled with farms, orchards, and areas for animal husbandry.

This is Release 4 for the countryside and Undercliff, but is perhaps better described as the Great Harbour and Coast.

Notes. This release includes the completed Great Harbour and Naval Harbour as well as the outlying islands of Deepwater Isle and Stormhaven Island.

I won't be releasing a "complete countryside" post as the complete map posts mentioned above will do this + fill the city in in the middle.

Files. Files are attached below in both jpg and png formats, in 10px and 20px grid sizing (maps are not gridded). NOTE (different from usual): there are no 300dpi images included with these releases yet. We are suddenly into massive files (20,000px+ dimensions) and as we are so close to the end, I will release the high quality files once everything is all stitched together.

Part 4 dimensions: 1185x1000

Actual question: Where is mistshore supposed to be? I originally had it at the north of here, on those 3 piers poking out, but using the map from WDH there's no features like that on the original (what i've been using up until this way better version). Then at one point i thought okay maybe i move it outside of town that's why its such a dump, and i had it on those round rock shapes south of the southern gate but the zoomed in map showed me that it isnt "a bunch of boats" its just like rocky shores. So ... thoughts? Ideas? wing it? haha I sure dont want you to have to change anything im just spitballing ideas. Or if anybody actually knows where its intended to be.

As always it seems, there are conflicting sources. The Waterdeep Dragon Heist DM map puts it in the naval harbour. Which looking at the map kind of works thematically as you have those buildings on the docks there that could easily blend into being ships of Mistshore. However, from Ed himself: https://www.sageadvice.eu/where-exactly-mistshore-on-a-map-of-waterdeep-is/#:~:text=While%20it%20flourished%2C%20Mistshore%20occupied%20the%20northern%20shore,draw%20a%20line%20due%20west%20from%20that.%202%29 ...puts it on the other side of the breakwater - to the east of the naval harbour. And the WDH dm map and my map don't quite have the infrastructure there to really make it make sense here. So ultimately....wherever you want? lol I did think about this when I was working on the city map - trying to figure out if I should make certain areas on the city map more closely match the detailed battlemap location, but ultimately decided to keep it in line with the overview map. If I were running it for my game, I'd have players navigate to close to the area and then swap them to the battlemap for the detailed view of the location.

This has been an incredible series. I cannot begin to express how incredible getting this high quality of map has been. Other Waterdeep adjacent maps that could either use a refresh or haven't been fleshed out include: - Sewers! -Castle Waterdeep -Deepwater Harbor and/or the seacaves to Skullport (under the waves) -A regional map from Mount Sar to Ardeep Forest -My pie-in-the-sky map is an actually cool Field of Triumph. For being a colosseum, most maps of it begin and end with the field itself. Any actual adventures I run during tournaments revolve around fights in the stands, stairwells, and basements or in the massive storage spaces for monsters and locker rooms for combatants. Not to mention a map would help me lay out what factions sit where, since in Waterdeep tickets are strictly controlled by the Guildmasters. Love all the work you've been doing and I hope you're as happy with it as we are!

Totally fair, thanks for the info! Yeah I think i'd found a tweet form ed way back - that's what corrected my 'guess' from being the 'mess' outside the southern end of town to those 3 piers but it always bugged me- Logically, it just seems like living that close to folks like Mirt surely, he'd have a crime problem or something. Maybe his security is just that good? xD I'd figure as persnickety as nobility gets in WD. Either way. Just for funzies. Great to have folks opinions on it, but Ed is a good default for me. that's what i tend to fall back to. o7 cheers!

I'd second any of these!
