Content

The one post you need for all my Waterdeep city map content.

"One post to rule them all, one post to find them, one post to bring them all and in the internet share them." -- probably not Tolkien.

After months of mapping out the city in intricate detail, here is the end product in every format I could think of that you may need to use it in your game. If you think something is missing or need it broken up a bit differently please let me know and I will do my best to make it happen.

Attached below you will find:

  • Ward maps (by ward - each zip contains all versions - filename "NameofWard"):

    • Resolutions: 10px, 20px, and 300dpi ward maps;

    • Versions: unlabelled, labelled, and a "shaded" version (so the ward will appear normal, and everything outside the ward boundary will be a bit darker so it's easy to determine the boundary.

    • Formats: jpg and png. *300dpi version is png only (lossless)

  • Complete maps (the entire city and surrounding area - filename "Waterdeep_complete"):

    • Resolutions: 10px and 20px

    • Formats: jpg and png.

    • **not found below, but available on dropbox: a 9 GB bigtiff file of the complete map in 300dpi...that's a lot of pixels

  • Tiled maps (taking the finished map and cutting it into squares - filename "sections_"):

    • sections_300dpi: a 2x3 grid of png files with the base tile size of 1000x1000 grid cells (5ft squares)

    • sections_foundryvtt: a 3x4 grid of webp files with all tiles <16k px in any dimension (ie. below the max web rendering size - webgl max texture size)

Dropbox has been updated with the same set of files - the complete set of maps can be found in: alltiers/by-content/WaterdeepContent

Thank you all for your support as I worked through this massive project! I look forward to continuing to build out the City of Splendors and help bring it to life for your game.

This is amazing, thank you for bringing the City of Splendors to life!!!

Oneiropolis

You're a damned hero, sir!

Allen Jones

You are a saint of digital d&d maps. Thank you so much for this. Truly 👏👏👏

Eduardo Vaz Bugs

That is amazing! Thank you so much for all your work.

Your work is nothing short of perfect—there's truly nothing else like it with such incredible attention to detail. If it’s not too much to ask, could you add a layer with the names of the streets and districts for the full city map? That’s the only thing I felt was missing when compared to the original map.

Sunny Crimson

This feels pretty exciting to have. You've probably mentioned it in a different post and I have forgotten the answer, but I am curious what you are planning to do next. I really have liked your work.

...and maybe the overlay labels for the shaded wards? I know i am asking for too much, and the labelled versions are gorgeous, it is just that i like to have the labels in a overlay so i can turn them invisible whenever i need.

Tych Maps

Good catch - thank you for pointing this out. I had the labels all ready to go, just needed to export the files again with them included, so it wasn't too much work at all. The complete city map has a labelled version now in various formats.

Tych Maps

I also dropped the labels in again - the dimensions on the images for each ward (shaded or normal) are the same, so they can use the existing overlays that were put together.

i'm probably going to be all over the place for the next little bit. this month will mainly focus on offering up the waterdeep content in different ways; then I might do some more work on my baldur's gate city map; and I also want to add some more detailed locations (battlemaps) to my Waterdeep offerings

bruno aublet

Perfect ! This is just perfect ! Thanks a lot for those maps. Now... You wouldn't want to go way back to the Volo's Guide to Waterdeep, and give us maps for all the locations in the book, would you ? Please ? I can beg if necessary.

Tych Maps

i'm not sure about alllll of the them, but the plan is to fill out more waterdeep locations!

The timing for this is very fortuitous for me! I'm right in the middle of prepping for my very first campaign as a DM: Dragon Heist. The whole reason I subscribed to you, just a few days ago, was to get your Dragon Heist maps for Foundry VTT. And now this! Huzzah!

Tych Maps

depending on when your first sessions are (if you can wait a couple weeks), don't prep the city maps too much...i may have something coming which may help you a lot as a foundry user ;) or if you do need maps sooner, maybe just prep the absolute necessities

Christopher

Anyone else having trouble downloading the tradeward :(

Tych Maps

I haven’t heard of issues with it. Are you still having trouble? You could also try getting them from my Dropbox.
