Now we're talkin. You just thought you hated Theon before.

Nambao Mutemwa

Watching as an African it was hilarious that the killing of his dog could be used to justify this psycho going on a killing spree!

Ty Rogers

Nice, please watch First Man also :)

Livingstone Sucasas

I was hoping for a juicy treat like this when I started Patreon…. Dope!

Brian E

The best straight action movie since rambo 2008. Awesome!

Randee Carreno

Happy Feature Friday, Natalie! 😊 I've only seen this John Wick movie. So, this will be a great re-watch for me. I hope that you end up watching the 2 sequel movies as well. That way I can watch those for the first along with you. And I heard that there's going to be a 4th movie out next year. Really looking forward to watching this reaction this evening. Have a great day today & great weekend! 😊 Stay Golden! 💛

Danishprince

I'm a Golden Nugget and I like it! :]

Ian

So excited for this reaction but gotta save it til tomorrow cuz currently at a carvery eating s roast 😋

Edward

The world building they do in the sequels is pretty fun too!! Check them all out please

Mr Booligan

Such a good movie and the sequels are just as good

simon.shoots

Oh its worse about Daisy.. the blood trail shows that Daisy crawled to him before dying...

Curaitis

The whole Trilogy is phenomenal and its total fine to love Animals mire then people. People suck and Animals are love. You ave to watch the other ones to Nat. The Action gets even better and the Worldbuilding is also great. Its tghe best Action Trilogy since the Bourne Trilogy from the early 2k´s. There are some really nice BTS Vids on YT how he trained for the role. Amazing stuff.

Well

Wooooooooooot. JW 4 might actually be out by the time she reacts to 2 and 3!! Heeeeere's to hopin' !!

Toy Soldier

just a heads up for people with a VPN John Wick is on Netflix in Canada

Nautilus1492

Hi Nat, and thank you so much for this new reaction! It was so great 😄 Your reaction at the beginning part, was just...... "so Nattie" 🤗 Ridley is so cuuuute! 🥰A little snow flake hahaha (I wish we have more Koda and Ridley on screen 😆 I hope you're fine, take care, be safe and stay golden! 💛

GWU

The reason the movie feels like an ending is because it was only ment to be 1 movie but because it was so good people demanded more so they made more movies, so thats why it felt like an ending because it was written as a 1 and done movie.

Philippe Dessaints

For real Winston is the goat. "Your membership to the Continental has been by thine own hand, revoked". So goddamn badass

Daniel Andersen

background on the movie, Keanu Reeves had the script and was looking to make it. He then turned to his friends, Chad Stahelski and David Leitch. Both stunt guys, that wanted to break into filmmaking. Chad Stahelski was the main director for this movie and was notably Keanu Reeves' stunt double in all the Matrix movies. David Leitch, went on to direct Deadpool 2 actually. In his stunt career he doubled for guys like Brad Pitt (on 6 occasions) and others. Also RIP to Viggos actor, Michael Nyqvist. Swedish actor, most know for the original "The Girl with Dragon Tattoo" trilogy. Which is probably one of the best movies out of Sweden, ever. Worthy of watch in your own time!

Ilsuk Yang

Yup, that's Mr. Mayhem. Too bad his character was useless in this movie and if you take him out, the movie literally does not change at all. But, yeah, I love the John Wick franchise. This movie came out in 2014, I believe. There are 2 other John Wick movies out with John Wick 4 coming out in 2023. It was supposed to come out this year, but got delayed until next year. Each movie has been longer than the previous one. You know how it goes, bigger budgets, more exposure, more stars, etc. I hope you react to the next 2 John Wick movies. If you want more visceral gun action with a completely different feel and tone, watch the Kingsman movies. First one is better than the second, and there is a prequel that is quite different in tone to the rest of the series.

Brian Jones

There's only one question I have for you now Nat..... Part 2 & 3 when?? And yes, they are both equally as good if not better. There is WAY more to this world than you think there is.😏

Dioskur

Sure the movie lokks great and the action is great and all... but that is not what makes it great for me. The unique thing is that they had the balls to not explain everything. They hint at a huge world in the background but where 99% of all movies would have some forced exposition to explain all of that, this movie leaves it open. And I love it for that!

Jeff K.

Holy hell, it just now dawned on me on this rewatch that the guy who plays the doctor at the Continental is the same actor who plays the key maker in the Matrix movies. Which, honestly, makes sense given all of the crossover with those movies but still.

Jayson Phillips

It was a surprise hit to be sure! I watched a movie called Nobody that is very similar and also a very fun action movie. Parts 2 and 3 are just as good.

Kit Thomas

Loved the reaction Nat! Glad you liked the movie too! Two things regarding the dog though: - The first is that when they 'kill' the dog i didn't figure that they put its body infront of him for when he wakes up, i've always felt it's the much more heartbreaking liklihood that the puppy whilst dying crawled over to his unconscious body to be with him... - The second thing with the dog is that i think he went on the rampage purely because he (and us) hadn't spent more time with the dog and that it all happened so fast over a few days 'Theon' robbed him of that too, getting to know the dog and thats the cause of the rampage! Anyhow, great film and am looking forward to watching the sequels with you! :D

Ben Wheeler

Kind of a similar movie that came out last year is Nobody, with Bob Odenkirk in the lead role. It's kind of a dark comedy, with the instigating event being the burglers stealing his daughter's pink watch :D

Cody Steele

Ohh! I cannot wait to watch your reactions to this classic! I wonder if we can get her to watch Keanu after? 😂

Logan Kerlee

I really enjoyed watching this with you. You say that you'd of liked having more time with the dog, yet you know that you'd be a wreck if they did that.. :-/ lol, you're a strange one Natalie. The music choices really helped many of the scenes. It set the pace for the movie, I feel.

David Sumner

For some reason, people keep forgetting that Batman straight up kills three dogs by throwing them off a building in the Dark Kight. I feel that nobody ever comments on that.

TrackHoodie

Great reaction to the start of a franchise! I shared this movie with some of my friends who are not into action movies and identify themselves as pacifists. BUT they were JARRED when the dog was killed! They instantly turned into blood thirsty killers calling for all sorts of VIOLENCE!!! Clearly, this was not an isolated incident as many can testify to this. I wonder if Natalie would've done the same if she did not know about the dog's fate. Great reaction nonetheless. This is a beautiful cinematic universe that reinvigorated the action movie genre! Wide angles! See all the action! With a stuntman-turned-director/writer/producer, and with the remarkable action skills of Keanu Reeves and the stunt team, they were able to showcase precise and tight action choreography! I am excited to see your future reaction to the sequel Natalie!

Philip De Leon

From John's perspective, the fact that he didn't get "a little more time" with the dog made it hurt so much more. Another aspect of his wife ripped away from him while his pain was still raw.

Jaymoneyman

Great reaction. And the answer to your question about the dinner reservation thing. John had said it earlier “dinner reservation for 12” code for the clean up crew. They had 12 bodies to clean up. One of my favorite little things about this movie, is that they get the number of shots accurate before he has to reload

DMON

There's a picture on the internet of the dog all grown up and looking happy.

Frank Rosales

There's videos of Keanu Reeves training for these movies and damn he's a beast with the weapons training and the Judo training.

DMON

FYI, all the JW movies are on Netflix in Canada in you have a VPN.

Troy

I want to play this video game. Edit to add: I think most of the audience would have been way more upset if the dog's death came after far longer bonding. It was traumatic enough as-is! =D

Ben Curran

One of the best action movies ever. Been waiting so long for you to watch this! Super excited to sit down with some snacks, makes the last 6 days of unstop rain worth it hahaha. PERFECT MOVIE WEATHER.

John

It's not so much that it's a small world - all of these characters were part of the same underworld organization. They all worked together. That's why they all know each other. They all use the gold coins for payment for services in the organization. In part it's one of the ways to verify someone is on the inside. "Dinner reservation" is code for the clean up crew. John made dinner reservations for 12 after the attack at his house. 12 bodies, 12 coins.

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

That was a really fun reaction. The music used during his assault on the nightclub was just fantastic! :)

Anthony Campbell

If you want a good laugh look up a video called Dog Wick on Youtube. You'll feel better for dogs afterwards

Thomas Malley

You managed to talk almost all the way through Keanus now famous speech in the third act, but other than that I throughly enjoyed your reaction. I love how easily attached you get even though they are fictional characters. I wish I had your ability to get immersed like that.

CyborgManHorse

If you like this one, I would also recommend Nobody

Andrew Minton

Turning off comments sucks, stop that nonsense. Patreon is all about accepting valid responses. Void those that aren't constructive, but you should allow everything else. IMHO.

Andrew Minton

Regardless, glad you enjoyed JW.

Patrick

I’m glad that you noticed how they highlighted the number when that guy said he lost 60 pounds. John was actually using code to ask how many enemies were in the building, with the guy saying 60 pounds to mean 60 enemies

Steven Hok

Love John Wick!! I hope you watch John Wick 2 & 3!

Frankie H

Thanks Nat, always fun to rewatch John Wick. Also 3 things to point out, 1. The dog might have crawled to John in its last moments, since there's a blood trail, making it even more sad. 2. Yes John had a kevlar vest when he attacked the Red Circle Club, you can see him putting it on when he suits up. 3. Marcus did not have a gun on him at the end, he pulled the gun off one of Vigo's bad guys.

Daniel Vezina

Don't know if it been answer, but the Gold coins are a trackless currency.

Nick James

In Russian culture, when you pour yourself and someone else a drink and not drink with it with them it is a sign of disrespect. Which is what Viggo did when he told his son who John Wick is.

Gilbert Gonzalez

The movie is a completely original idea as far as I can tell. Only thing I found was from IMDb that says the movie was loosely inspired from an incident in Texas, involving former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, who wrote the book Lone Survivor, also made into a movie starring Mark Wahlburg. Marcus Luttrell had gotten a puppy that was to be his service dog to help him recuperate from his injuries and PTSD from the Lone Survivor incident “Operation Red Wings”, that he named DASY, after his fallen teammates. He awoke one day to a gunshot and found his puppy dead in his front yard, and spotted four men get in to a car and speed off. He then armed himself with two 9mm Berettas, got in his truck, and chased the men through four counties until police apprehended them and they were charged with animal cruelty. They taunted him, threatened to kill him, and showed no remorse for their actions. Luttrell later stated “I spared them, because I’ve killed enough people already.”

Snacky Munchies

Would love to see you react to the other two since there's a new one coming March 24, 2023 and said to be a total of 5 in the series

Regi Todd

Not to bring down the mood, but her interpretation was that they dragged the dog to him. I thought the trail of blood suggested the dog used the last of its strength to drag itself closer to John, and honestly, I don't know which interpretation hurts more.

Philip Davetas

I love these flicks so much. I love the world they created from movie to movie. Wick just blasting, stabbing and punching his way all the way up the food chain. You need to finish the series.

Joe Blankenship

You see him as Mayhem, I always think of him as Dennis--Liz Lemon's deadbeat beeper selling boyfriend. And to a lesser extent, the Vulture.

Darryl Low

They shouldn't have touched his dog Nat 😭 Once we got past the tear-jerking moment, this was a really fun reaction and I enjoyed it a lot. A lot of great set pieces as Keanu wreaks his revenge. Thanks for an entertaining video today Nat, and as always, thanks for all your awesome work this week. Enjoy your weekend 💛

Richard Church

2 minutes into the video Natalie saying "If we dwell on the dog dying, I'm gonna be crying so much" all I can think is Oooooooh Nat, do I have news for you

FateMalone

I look at it as The dog was the last real connection he had for his wife. Kinda of like when a dear friend or family member may pass and they give you something to hold on to to show that they are always their. Sad analogy lol but thats what it was to me.

Lee Gannon

Ian McShane who plays Winston was also in Game of Thrones in a season six episode as Brother Ray. Adrienne Palicki who plays Ms. Perkins played Agent Bobbi Morse in Agents of SHIELD.

Thomas Yanez

Whenever I see Ian McShane, I think of his portrayal of, and the character arc of, Al Swearengen in "Deadwood", a series I would LOVE for Nat to watch.

Fernando

My impression is that this movie is much better than I remembered. And I liked it the first time I watched it.

Kevin Mowery

In addition to the John Wick sequels, for more in the same vein I'd recommend the three main Bourne movies (The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, and the Bourne Ultimatum--the Bourne Legacy was an ill-fated attempt to make a spinoff without Matt Damon, and Jason Bourne was an attempt to continue the story but really just a retread of the second movie). And Baby Driver, since you liked the diegetic soundtrack moments where they were shooting to the beat of the music. Baby Driver is driven by its soundtrack. (Warning: Does contain Kevin Spacey.)

John

I was reading some John Wick trivia and came across these: "In an interview with 'Rudy's Movie Reviews", Kevin Nash stated he was told the reason his character, Francis the bouncer, was allowed to live. Nash said that when Wick mentions he had lost some weight and Francis stated he had lost 60lbs, Wick was asking in code how many hostiles were in the building. Francis' reply was 60. Because he provided the information to Wick he was allowed to live. " "Lance Reddick plays the Hotel Concierge, whose name is Charon. In Greek mythology, Charon is the ferryman of Hades. you have to pay Charon for safe passage. Hence why Lance Reddick puts the gold coin in his pocket at the hotel. John in a sense is paying for safe passage. "

Edouard Suenson

the dinner reservation question from the receptionist in the hotel was a low key question if a clean up crew was needed, like in the beginning when he called in a dinner reservation for 12 = 12 bodies for pick up and cleaning

Lorenzo Da

Some Movies That have the same Quality of action that are made by some of the same people behind the camera are -John Wick 2 and 3 Obviously -Nobody (Imagine John Wick but with bob Odenkirk [he is great in this film] and a different Motivation) -Atomic Blonde (Cold War Assassin Stuff) I can recommend all of them Whole heartedly -

Cripkie

Keanu Reeves is not the greatest actor imo but love his films. I think its because he puts everything into a role and has very little narcissism.

James Fisher

I was going through your reaction videos and I did not see Wonder Women. I would have thought you watched it by now because its why Captain Marvel and Black Widow got her own movie.

Robert Barnard

John Wick is super action movie . Now you must watch John Wick Chapter's 2 and 3 ,so you're for the 4th one. Also some great action to catch are Nobody , Atomic Blonde and the Raid 1 & 2. Or if you want something outside the box any Buster Keaton silent classic like the General amongst others. Take care Natalie.

David Bennett

I loved your reaction to one of my favorite recent movies, Natalie. I REALLY liked the fact that you caught how the dog at the end was scheduled to be put down, so when John rescued her, he was both helping himself and saving an innocent life. Regarding real world knife fights, I've heard it said that the loser dies at the scene of the fight and the winner dies in ambulance on the way to the hospital. The film's depiction of violent confrontations is at times over the top but there IS a certain amount of realism to it. Keanu Reeves went through a LOT of firearms training to make it look so bad ass on screen. I also like the fact that people run out of ammo and have to reload in this film. That makes it a LOT more realistic than most hollywood movies.

Yasin

This was my first time watching John Wick, and I gotta say that was great. Gave me Raid Redemption vibes. Loved the reaction! On the critique, about maybe the dog died a little early -- and I don't know if someone already said this but, (I started reading other comments and I saw the word 'sequel' so I said, "cool, cool, cool" and jumped to the bottom) -- I kind of like the thread! Like, John wanted more time with the dog too, Nat! Like, it was soooo soon! John was just rufkm? my wife just died!!! Anyways, good film! good stuff!

Brian E

I really hope you get to the sequels soon. I know you have a million things vut these are such good movies and expand the lore dramatically to answer several of your questions.

Marty McGee

For me this is one of the coolest fully fleshed out original story and world (as in not from comics or books). The 2nd and 3rd expand it even more. Sure there's a few tropes at times, but it's very well written. Plus, the fact that the filmmakers were novices is very impressive.

0

You are the second reactor I see doing this where you blur everything even on here.Do they go after people on patreon now too?

0

Keanu was professionally trained to shoot with different weapons by Taran Tactical so he really developed this skills, they also went for the realism to the point of counting the bullets and reload so it is accurete, they created very detailed underworld that gets revealed more and more in each movie with it`s rules like Continental being safe grounds and the place the coins take etc so you don`t just watch for the action but to understand the world they are in. Markus couldn`t say no because for sure he would`ve been shot so he doesn`t contact John,Vigo went there on purpose. About the weight it`s a code in kilograms he says 20 which is how many people went inside
