Whenever Mei raises her arms when she is scared/surprised, that's actually a thing red pandas do! it's super cute. Also, Billie Eilish and her brother wrote the 4 town songs (he sings for one of the band members) I thought they did a great job!

Happy Furry Friday Feature Nat. Always great to get a surprise to end the week. Looking forward to watching this movie with you, as I haven't seen it yet. That was such a cool movie. I really enjoy your animated reactions Nat. They just give 90 minutes of the feels and you come out the other side so jazzed. Loved the twisty-turny plot, the score was so good, and it's always fun watching you bopping along to the songs. Thanks for a really fun video today, and as always, thanks for all your amazing work this week. Have a great weekend Nat 💛

Saul Hernandez

I know i’m probably the only one here, but Shrek is a really fun movie, if you ever just want to see a really fun movie after some serious stuff lol if you haven’t seen them of course 😂

Ian

Happy Friday nat always love a surprise on a Friday 🥳 be saving it for weekend though as I'm never in on a Friday but looking forward to it 👌 hope you have a lovely weekend and I look forward to finishing moonknight next week so until then stay golden 💛

Anthony Ryder

I think it brings up important concepts to talk about in a coming of age story as a young girl but also the taboo talks of menstration, and toxic family dynamics.

Randee Carreno

Happy Feature Friday, Natalie! 😊 I was wondering if or when you were going to watch this one. This is a cute movie! Definitely looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. It's become a Friday tradition for me. Ordering a pizza for dinner, and watch your weekly movie reaction. Have a great day & weekend! 😊 Stay Golden! 💛

Krystal

awww this is a good surprise

Brian Leonard

I was hoping you would surprise us with the new Chip N Dale movie that came out today.

Brian Leonard

That is a true statement. I am a dunce for that idea.

Well

............really

Benjamin Preston

Oh fun! My wife and I really enjoyed that one.

Yessss finally some animated Disney stuff thank you 🙏

With Memorial Day coming up, I'd like to highly recommend 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi. It's a brilliant film, and a spot-on adaptation of the true events from 10 years ago, that showcases the sacrifice and sheer determination of these brave Americans. I can't praise this movie enough.

I relate to this movie so much! Mei Mei's family dynamic is a lot like mine (chill dad, helicopter mom that expected way too much from you, but would brag about you to their friends [we don't see much of that in this movie, but I know her mom does it]). The main difference is that I'm Korean American, not Chinese Canadian (although I still maintain that Canadians are American since they're part of North America). Even the fact that Mei Mei can't speak Cantonese is very much like me speaking very poor Korean (I didn't learn how to read and write in Korean until my mid-30s; it's actually a lot easier than actually speaking Korean, in my opinion). My mom (and aunts and grandmothers) definitely overfed me too (then they would ask why I gained weight, lol). I was expected to get straight A's (which I didn't do until college), play an instrument (trombone, trumpet, French horn [didn't enjoy playing music until I learned how to play the guitar]), and read lots of books (not a problem since I actually liked/like reading). So, I definitely get why Mei Mei was trying to please her mom so much. I think this movie is what Brave should've been, so I thought your comparison between this movie and Brave was very apt. Watching this for the first time alongside you definitely didn't help with the waterworks (I usually don't need help in that department :)). As always, I enjoyed your reaction, Nat!

Nautilus1492

Hi Nat, and thanks for this new surprise and reaction! It was lovely from start to finish 😄 I found so good the idea of the "female puberty", and how it can be "complex" for them and of course the difficulty parents may have in discussing the subject, it's so little approached or not very well seen in general while well it's important and natural, I grew up with only sisters (2 haha), and for both of them it wasn't "easy" Discovering it with you was interessant, better and funnier than I thought, and a lot of emotions 😄 I persist to say you must be sponsored by a tissue brand 😂 I hope you're fine, take care, be safe and stay golden! 💛

themightyabe

I don’t understand how this movie got so much hate. This shit had me, a grown ass man, bawling when I saw it. Do people really not relate to this story?

Eve

Hey Nat, would love for you the watch Pirates of the Caribbean some time! Have a nice weekend! 💛 Edit: and yes JUSTICE FOR JOHNNY!!

Onno Smits

I watched this movie when it first came out and didn't really like it, despite being in the same age-bracket as you Nat. I couldn't relate to any of the characters. My parents were perfectly happy to let me be my own person and spread my wings my own way. And as a teenager, I never really felt the need to rebel. However, watching it with reactors (first with CineBinge, got a lot of context for the Chinese-Canadian experience with that, and now with you, hitting the emotional core more) I got a new appreciation for the movie. It's awesome how watching something with other people (reactors or otherwise) can really change and/or elevate a piece of media like this. Thanks for the great reaction!

My Toasty Toast

Even though I don’t relate to this movie I immensely appreciate that a film like this was made, and I think there should be more out there. It’s important that these types of movies exist

RationallySassy

Loved your reaction Nat! Super fun and it's an adorable and relatable movies - We ALL went through puberty and all had to go through finding out who we are in relation to our parents/guardians/society and friends. What is interesting is all the comments (not here too much, which is nice) about how people didn't enjoy it because they didn't relate. I LOVE a lot of movies I don't relate to but I can put myself in the characters shoes, and watch the plot unfold and still be entertained. Blows my mind people can't see the relatable aspects to this but also, who cares if you don't, right? It's a fun movie with fun songs, colourful characters, no 'outright' evil person/thing - it's about growing up and I think some people need to do that here. It's fine if people genuinely didn't like it but I hope it's not for superficial or societal-biased reasons. Gotta be open-minded if you're a media consumer.

Edouard Suenson

Nat is quickly becoming my favorite person to watch movies with, doesn't really matter what movies... another great reaction

Troy

I enjoyed this a lot more than I had expected. Also, even though I was a son instead of a daughter, I could relate to the whole "having a parent who blames others for their child's shortcomings rather than let their kid just be 'imperfect'."

Opti_Frog

I needed this tonight. I love this film and i loved this reaction.

Dooly

Asian parents can be a bit intense.

archie castillo

THANK YOU for watching this!! My 1 year old girl watches this on the loop, so ive seen it a million times, but watching it again now with your reactions was GOLDEN ;)

Kevin Bartelen

Sure you cried, but you also laughed a lot and had a good time. A good movie should hit the whole range.

Daniel Vezina

Seeing you react to this movie, I'm even more convince that Arcane is gonna literally break your heart

Frankie Crews

Amazing movie and an even more amazing reaction. Loved it all.

Daniel Vezina

If you ever want to know what a Gen-X was going trough growing up, "Kids", Rosario Dawson first movie is the perfect example

Logan Kerlee

I'll go ahead and go for Princess Mononoke.

Anthony Ryder

But have you seen TANGLED talk about mother daughter relationships

Matthew Periolat

Controversial opinion… head to head, I’d put this slightly ahead of Encanto. Don’t get me wrong, loved both, just a slight edge to Red, honestly not sure why. It’s just a really fun movie with so much subtle stuff. And yeah, ride or die friendships are rare these days and very underrepresented. Solid stuff.

Dmitrius

I didn’t know anything about this film. I had to get Disney + to watch with you. Have you seen Dog Gone? I saw it on Netflix awhile back and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you haven’t seen it I think that you would like it. You can watch it without it being a reaction video. I’m honestly so happy to be watching your videos. You are easily my favorite reactor. I’m really glad that I found you. So much fun and beautifully emotional. You never disappoint. Thank you for the work that you are doing. 👍🏽 “Dog Gone Trouble “ sorry about that 🙈

James Fisher

if you want to cry and laugh watch onward

Jules 4 Fools

Fun tid bit - the 4 Town music was written by FINNEAS, Billie Eilish's brother ~

Jules 4 Fools

also - the dad was such an OG in this movie. Even when grandma shows how clearly she dislikes him, he still pulls through before she can say, "where's Jin?". He's very supportive as a father to Mei too. He doesn't step on his wife's toes to do it either, Like - brooo -

Jules 4 Fools

I'm sad this didn't get a theatrical release. I would have totally watched this in cinemas. The box office would riot ~

Jules 4 Fools

I was definitely the kid who did everything to please my parents. It lost me a lot of friendships and experiences, but there was a lot of people who stuck and helped me grow. This movie just felt so reminiscent of so many asian households.

Jenna Antonelli

I knew you would really enjoy this movie. As a 33 yr old woman who was into boy bands then AND now lol..it's a very fun and relatable movie for SO many reasons. Even if I was lucky to have parents who were music buffs and let us go to concerts as kids, it was still easy to put myself in Mei's shoes as a people pleaser who may be WAY too talkative and weird :] Anyways, glad you checked this one out and had a great time.

Gavin Day

I didn't think I'd like this movie but I'm so glad I watched this along with you, I pulled a Nat and forgot to have tissues at hand

sharmcant

Great reaction! Had fun rewatching this with you. If you're looking for more heartwarming shows, I recommend Heartstopper!

Travis

I just watched “Everything, Everywhere all at once” and it shares some of the themes in this movie. I think you should watch it as soon as it’s available. You’ll love it!

Trish Murphy

I was so psyched to see you reacting to Red. I love Red & Red 2. Oh… Red Turning? Nvm. I don’t know that one. I HIGHLY recommend Red & Red 2. So funny, great plot & such great performances. Thanks Nat. Can’t wait for Moon Knight 5 (I think we’re up to 5) ✌️💚

Elmo

Ive been meaning to watch this since it came out and then kept putting it off for... I dunno... so really glad you watched it here to get me to watch it and that was so awesome! It is interesting that in that world, half of Toronto are basically now furries. lol Also, what's with James Hong (Mr. Gao) and pandas? First Po, now Meilin.

Michael Cruse

When you said before the movie started that you were looking forward to something light, I was thinking "Oh. Oh, no. No, Natalie, you're going to like this, but you're gonna need the tissues." My daughter (who's about your age, maybe a little younger) told me she watched this with her mom, and it was a good experience for both of them. So that was cool.

JarHead0351

sorry it was cute, but I did not connect to it much as you. You want a good one try "Moana" good story and good songs too

Blackbaldrik

This movie is honestly one of my all-time favourites now. The themes, the characters, the subject it tackles. It just has so much heart. My favourite part of the whole movie has to be the really small bit where the dad briefly perks up at the suggestion of him and his wife hanging out. That moment of excitement followed by disappointment, by itself shows you just how much he loves her. It's legit cuter than all the red panda stuff combined. That man deserves the world, and I want to hug him.

Mastervodo

I watched the bit where Nat cries and laughs at the same time at least 10 times. That's the stuff...! Also, when the power point bit came up, her eyes scan it for 2 beats before realizing what it was... and her reaction was so priceless. Of COURSE she did power point presentations! Keep at it Nat! Sorry to see Arcane didn't make it before Daredevil. Damn. Might get Season 2 before she gets to it!
