If you want tror horror and comedy, "American Psycho" is the way to go lmao.

Jonathan Giles

What an episode. Hopefully Jessica Jones is up next

Mady Vodicka

Watch doctor strange 2 Natalie it’s so good!!!!

Matt Gwinn

Kingpin is a great villain. The villain in Jessica Jones is great as well. I hope that's next.

Ian

Today's thumbnail is one of my favourites to date 😃

Darryl Low

That was another great episode today Nat. After setting up Matt with the silk sheets in the last episode, it was a clever switcheroo at the start with Fisk. He's always one step ahead. Look forward to the next episode. Thanks for a brilliant reaction today Nat 💛

Brandon Harrelson

I completely get the frustration with important deaths happening off screen. But I feel like media typically tries to avoid showing child murder lol. This is a great episode though. Still so excited for the rest of this show.

Kevin Mowery

I'm pretty sure a male seamstress is a tailor.

Eve

Hope you will watch Stranger Things some time soon, it's so good

Tayyib Majumder

The duality of Matt's father and Fisk's father is so great. I think Matt's father shows very good masculine values and Fisk's father is all about toxic masculinity. Also the idea of the new testament vs the old testament where Matt's father doesn't want him to fight and turn the other cheek but Fisk's father wants him to fight back similar to an eye for an eye.

Matt Gwinn

I think a male seamstress is a tailor.

Mastervodo

Can't wait for Natalie's reaction to the scene with Karen and Wesley! Y'all know the one!

Narutoanime16

I love the parallels between Matt & Fisk you can really tell in this episode , with their dads especially and how they were raised and influcenced by them jsut in different ways

Ilsuk Yang

Yeah, I know it's weird that the "black sky" was killed off-screen, but when characters like Stick say they killed someone, I believe them. He's not the type to mince words. Anyways, there's still a lot of stuff for you to see in season1, Nat!

Riolkin

What an episode! I remembered how Fisk's dad died but I forgot about the connection between the wall and the painting. This depiction of Fisk is so detailed and complicated, that's why I didn't really like how he was just kind of shoved into the Hawkeye show as the hidden villain for the finale. It makes sense that Hawkeye would know him both as a former Shield agent and from his time tracking down and killing organized crime leaders as Ronin, but Vincent D'Onofrio does some stellar acting in the Netflix show and didn't really get a chance to shine in Disney. I hope we see him again, but for now I'm just enjoying rewatching this.

Roman

There's a lot of sympathy for a lot of terrible people in these reactions lol

Bou Sculpts

A good villain is one that, even though you don't really want him to achieve his goals, you can actually understand his motifs and, in some cases, even partially relate.

Neon Ghost

I really hopes she continues with this series and we get to see season 2

Danishprince

That's how good villains are written. Characters and people with actual motivations and a backstory that not only connects well with the protagonists but also makes the viewers care about them. Villains that are just "haha I'm evil just to be evil" quickly becomes boring to watch

PickettsChargingPort

"...with actual motivations..." Otherwise you end up with Snidely Whiplash

Fostena

A male seamstress... a tailor?

jamie jones

Kilgrave is the best mcu villian imo.

Joe Blankenship

That's what I was thinking. Tailor makes a suit. Seamstress makes a dress.

Joe Blankenship

I remember going on an omelette kick after watching this the first time. Watching Fisk make them made me wanna wake up and make em. With Sriracha!

Tom Chan

I know you mentioned in your Tropic Thunder reaction, a need for a change of pace in tone. Ms Marvel is a great watch! Kamala's story is really relatable to all Would really like to hear your take on its cinematrography

Anthony Campbell

women are seamstress' men are tailors.......I think

crawlie

Your reaction when seeing the wall was exactly what I hoped for :) This show is just art. Its not flawless, but it really shines sometimes. Oh and I entirely agree about Stick. Likewise Fisk and Vanessa - power couple for sure!

This episode more than any other really highlights the extent to which Vincent D'Onofrio went to imbue Kingpin with ASD characteristics. I got diagnosed with ASD last year and in the midst of doing research about it and how I could learn to better live with it, I started rewatching Daredevil (after Hawkeye) and actually being knowledgeable about it made the signs much more noticeable to me. It's got nothing to do with Marvel lore or any of that either (which is why the show will never explicitly tell you, it's only subtly woven into the character). It's Vincent D'Onofrio himself who has ASD, and he personally chose to include that into his portrayal of Wilson Fisk. So the things you see in this episode like him waking up to the same routine, eating the same breakfast everyday, wearing the same outfits and cufflinks despite having a huge closet, his problems with emotional regulation, and stuff like that are examples of ASD characteristics. Even his awkward cadence that you mention (the way he speaks like he's in constant pain) and how nervous and socially awkward he is around Vanessa and others is part of it. It even plays into his very methodical ways of dealing with most things, and the way he calls out Blake to Hoffman for failing to pay attention to detail and the fact the addresses were compromised, because paying attention to detail is something people with ASD excel at. Echolalia is a thing that can be present with ASD too (especially while young) where they repeat phrases they hear, sometimes completely out of context. Child Fisk screaming "Keep kicking him" while very clearly using a hammer and not kicking at all is an example of that. And in the third and final time we see his morning routine, you can see how uncomfortable he is at the changes. But not a displeased uncomfortable, just a unsure of what to do uncomfortable. Every time Vanessa changes something he gets thrown off and stands there awkwardly unsure of what to do other than wait to see what else she does. People with ASD fall into routines because the lack of variables make things run more smoothly. You always know what to expect when everything is pre-planned. The same way Fisk is shown to eat the same thing for breakfast everyday, I've eaten the same exact thing for lunch during my work breaks for the last 3 years. Instead of wasting time trying to consider what I should eat each time, I just grab the same item to keep it simple. And it's genuinely thrown me off the dozen or so times I would go to get my lunch only to see there is none left on the shelves. Similar to the way you can see Fisk getting thrown off by the constant disruptions to his routine throughout the episode. I just love the way it's subtly portrayed as a very ever-present part of who he is and his behaviours, but not ever thrown in your face or scapegoated for why he's a bad guy like Split and terrible portrayals like that. Yes he has ASD, but as we see in the flashbacks, it was the experiences and influences he dealt with that warped him. The ASD itself is something you have to deliberately notice to even be aware of

djKENTO

The term you were looking for is Tailor.

Bou Sculpts

This comment has been extremely educational. Thank you for taking the time to explain it!

Myles Away

This was a very well written episode. I think my complaint with this series is the one that I've heard a lot of people make is that the seasons are needlessly long. An 8 or 9 episode season might have served it better. They could have less scenes with Foggy and Karen which play like bad early 2000s television.

Wex

That was the best “holy fuck” I’ve ever heard in my entire life. That alone was worth this month’s subscription.

Austin

It's called empathy for fellow human beings, real or not, good or bad. Its a normal human emotion.

Preferred User

No hot sauce? That is a comment made of gold!

Michael

hot sauce is one of the best parts of eating eggs

Marty McGee

You can have a lot of sympathy for the child Wilson while also hating who he becomes. It is a tragic and sad story. It doesn't excuse his deeds, but it does help explain them.

Richard Maurer

Melvin Potter, the "seamstress" in this episode is a super-villain known as the Gladiator in the comics. Not a spoiler as they changed his character considerably for the show. There are a couple of references to the comics in his workshop - the symbol he wore on his chest in the comics appears on the wall, and a saw blade appears in his workshop - in the comics he had a working saw on the back of each of his hands.

Daniel Ketchum

Never use milk when making omelets. Use water instead.

yurrrjo

is it just me or she will love the Punisher?

Jofus

Nat...don't ever not stop never doesn't keep conducting the opening theme song

Dooly

All those double negatives… What are you trying to say?

Erik Stevenson

Seems like it would need to win a poll. People voting for Daredevil didn't vote for every Netflix Marvel show.

Dominik

Are we watching Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on Friday? If the answer is yes then I’m excited

Chris H

Anyone else waiting for the eureka moment when Nat puts together Kate Bishop stopping King Pin by flicking his cuff links?

Dennis Macko

I love how Nat conduct the theme song. She tried to resist but could only hold back for 2 seconds.

Daniel Vezina

No, never!!! Use cream or milk, never water.

Garrick Smalley

At the 30 minute mark you said "He's more like his mother." I nearly spit out my soda. Yes, yes I think he is.

Daniel Ketchum

Cream or milk is best for scrambled eggs.

Narutoanime16

I feel that’s such a minor thing anyone can forget unless someone tells her to rewatch that fight scene lol

Ed Green

Depends on what the poll is. There are so many different options, at least the following list: 1) Daredevil 123, 2) Daredevil 1 & 2, Defenders, Daredevil 3, 3) All Defenders shows in release order, 4) Release order but only some Defenders shows, 5) All Defenders first seasons then Defenders then Daredevil S3. And that's just the most likely options. Currently I would still vote for option 2 followed by Jessica Jones followed by The Punisher, with Luke Cage and Iron Fist as optional extras.

RebRox65

If we’re watching the MARVEL DEFENDERS SAGA. Then we need to watch JESSICA JONES S1 and then LUKE CAGE S1 before DAREDEVIL S2. Which is the official watch order from MARVEL WEBSITE.

Josh The Bard

The cufflink at the end of the Hawkeye show has a whole new level to it now LOL

Richard Maurer

Hopefully he's saying "don't ever stop conducting the opening themes" - that I can agree with. What all those extra words are doing in that sentence I don't know.

Richard Maurer

Water vs. cream /milk - the debate continues.

Joseph

yup and honestly just skip iron fist all together it isn't worth it

Misty Crom

Speak for yourself, I enjoyed Iron Fist and wouldn't mind a rewatch with Nat.

Ashcroft Production-House

I DO NOT CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS PLEASE WATCH THE FULL DEFENDERS SAGA ( YES INCLUDING IRON FIST ).

Bpark

Agreed. Go big or go home!

Foxyguava

Iron Fist? Is that the one with Danny Rand, the Immortal Iron Fist, protector of K'un-Lun, sworn enemy of the hand?
