Kinda lost me when you didn't know that the Illuminati is simply a thing from the comics and you acted like they just made it up for the movie. I realize not everyone is going to know every single comic detail.. but really come on. Generally enjoy your reactions but you thinking it's just "silly" because you don't get it is weird to me I guess.

Shaun Bloom

I love your "hot takes". That why I love your posts on YouTube and also why I became a supporter on Patreon. Love what you do! 😊

Giancarlo Gasparin

I went into this movie with very low expectations, because that's the appropriate response when you're going to watch something directed by Sam Raimi. Sure enough, 5 minutes into the movie, Doctor Strange is battling a giant one-eyed octopus and the big fish from Super Mario Brothers. The guy just can't help himself. He single-handedly ruined this movie, while wasting an incredible performance from Olsen. He's like the slow kid in class who always gets graded on the curve, and I think Nat's reaction proves that point. Her face through the entire movie was "WTF am I watching?" When she finds out it's Raimi, it's like, "Oh, now I get why this movie was so terrible."

rayman

she does that a lot, if she doesn't know about something she finds it silly or weird, or bad writing without thinking maybe it's in reference to something she doesn't have knowledge about. because she doesn't know about the Illuminati (most don't, I sure didn't) she assumes it was made up here and random, rather than it must be a reference to something long established in the comics

David Lonewolf Wright

Wong has become the Marvel MVP showing up in everything. He has a great bit in the She-Hulk series where he makes a surprising friend that is hilarious.

nicholas ch

How she feels about Dr. Strange is how I feel about Wanda. I can't once empathize for her. I think she's a brat. Actress is wonderful though

Darryl Low

Happy Friday Feature Nattie G. Been really looking forward to your reaction for this one. I thought it was a really cool movie. I'm expecting some jump scares and some tears. Watching your perplexed expressions was fun Nat, and then your realisation at seeing the director credit at the end was just awesome. Sam Raimi certainly loves his visuals and use of audio. I would call his kind of filmmaking stylized. It is a comic book movie after all. I enjoy the larger than life aspect of superhero movies, rather than having them try be grounded in reality. Danny Elfman's score was also so good. He also did the music for the 1st two SpiderMan movies, then stormed off, claiming he would never work with Raimi ever again. There must have been a lot of water gone under the bridge in the last 20 years. Good to see them friends again 😊 This was a really fun reaction today, and loved your Scarlet Witch shrieking impressions 😂 Thanks as always for all your awesome work this week Nat. Have a brilliant weekend 💛

Jamie A-H

LETS GOOOO!! I been waiting for this one!!! I think a lot of us were going into this movie just for Wanda lol. Also IMAX enhanced just means you’re getting the taller aspect ratio vs the standard windscreen, so your actually getting more picture.

Joe Blankenship

Yay! I've already watched it twice since it went on Disney+ and I'm happy to watch again.

Randee Carreno

Happy Feature Friday, Natalie! 😊 So excited to see your reaction to this movie. I saw it once in the theater. And loved it! Sam Raimi was the perfect director for this movie. Looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. Have a great day and weekend! 😊 Stay Golden! 💛

Ahmad Zain

Hey Natalie, I Love your reactions and I have a movie request. Will you please do a movie reaction on RRR( Rise, Roar, Revolt) It's an Indian Telugu Movie action-adventure movie and it's available on Netflix. I believe you'll really enjoy it becz it has excellent story, characters, emotions, and a great bromance of all time. Please whenever you get the chance try to do a reaction for that movie.

Steve J

I feel you on empathizing with Strange. MCU did a good job of setting up Tony Stark as the seemingly unredeemable a-hole that you end up rooting for in end. Strange has all the same character traits but makes a lot of choices that don't make you feel like he has a good soul underneath it all.

Joe Mendoza

She had me at her hot take: Dr Strange sucks, change my mind 🤣

BigHeadWeb

Almost walked out of the theater during this movie. Awful writing and plotting. I hope the new Thor movie is a good palate cleanser.

Rich

The iMAX enhanced means the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen are smaller. The aspect ratio is larger

Martin7777

Natalie doesn't like 🧙‍♂️?? HOW TO CANSIL PATREON😤🤬

djKENTO

it’s more than that. There’s actually a difference in color grade, and in some cases they retouch the movie for the IMAX format. Small flaws show up more on a screen that big.

Kevin Mowery

Yeah. I saw it in the theater, and I have no plans to ever watch it again. Olsen does a great job, but the actual plot is hamfisted nonsense that doesn't even feel like it got a second pass in the rush to destroy Wanda's character.

Ahmad Zain

Don't judge the movie when u haven't seen it, man

Fostena

When I watched this movie in the theater I didn't know it was a Sam Raimi movie and I kept thinking "whoever wrote and directed this movie is a good filmmaker, I must take note". At the very end I read "Sam Raimi" :D For some reason it never occurred to me it may be his, not even after the obligatory Campbell cameo.... EDIT: wow now I see that you too were surprised by it :D

Tom Scharstein

Okay okay, this movie has some real cheesy moments and if we're honest some of the worst child acting I've seen in a blockbuster in a few years BUT god damn if the portrayal of magic in it isn't some of the coolest stuff we've seen in the MCU in my opinion. I totally dug it personally, I can let a lot slide because I think a lot of the camp was intentional and I think where the movie shines really outweighs the faults.

Epic Trevs

One of my favorite MCU movies. Love that they made Wanda the villain of this movie and her motivations are really relatable to any person/parent. It makes sense that she would try at any cost to be with her children again and to live a life where she's actually happy. Plus we see that if really wanted to she could of taken over the whole multi verse like it was prophesied by she only wanted her to be with her children which shows that deep down she's a good person but the route she's taking is obviously not a good one. Professor Charles line fits perfectly to Wanda "just because someone stumbles and loses their way doesn't mean they're lost forever." Her line of "waking up to the same nightmare" completely shows her mindset and that she'll do anything to have her kids back and be happy again. The life she's lived up to this point as been mostly negative filled with trauma and death. She loses her parents in a bombing, she undergoes experiments (although voluntarily) by HYDRA, she loses her bother (last of her family), she gets a new family with Vision and then is forced to kill him in Infinity War which turned out to be futile. Then she gets Blipped, only to find out what's happened to Vision's body and the grief that he bought a piece of land for them to grow old together sends her over the edge. Then she has to lose her new family all over AGAIN in Westview. Then she gets the Darkhold which shows your deepest desire and how to achieve it which leads us to this moment.

Chen

So Tyler became friends with Charles Xavier...Is Tyler Magneto???

Alvin Baca

This movie is actually very brilliant. It reminds me of a alan watts lecture where he talks about how zen Buddhism is more like psycho therapy rather than a religion, a practice used to making a shift in conciseness to be happy. Alan watts explains he's not trying to sell the idea rather he's sharing a point of view which he enjoys, using the analogy that musician's dont sell the sound of their music by saying neither bach or motzartz music is better but rather something they enjoy. Which is neat because the theory of the multiverse is derived from quantum mechanics/ wave mechanics very similar to music theory. For being campy and cheesy this movie has a lot of hidden gems that have deeper meanings.

Ashcroft Production-House

I would love to see her reaction the Harley Quinn show on HBOmax especially given that she and Harley are both of Hebrew so I am sure Nat could provide some great reactions. P.S. I do not get out much LOL, so if Hebrew is the wrong term to use I deeply apologize. Also, I would love to see her react to Marvel's The Runaways on Hulu because the Darkhold is mentioned in that show as well and is most likely going to be working its way more into the MCU very soon it seems.

Lee Gannon

But was this Charles Xavier's middle name Francis?

Jamie A-H

I think going into the theater knowing this was a Sam Raimi film made a huge difference. I was anticipating the camp and I was loving the cheesiness of it all. I know this movie was divisive but I personally love it for being one of the most unique MCU movies. P.S. Wanda's definitely not actually dead!!

Lee Gannon

The only I didn't like about this movie is the continuing way they keep trying to make the MCU Earth-616 when it isn't.

Dani

Did Natalie just casually and "randomly" say that she met a real life Charles Xavier? Wtf? we need an entire 1 hr video for this story lol!

Daniel Ketchum

I don't think it was the child actors. I think whoever write the dialogue for them thought 10 year olds still talk and behave like 5 year olds. Aside from that, I loved this movie.

Steven Kuit

Fun bit of trivia: before Covid hit this film was actually supposed to come out BEFORE No Way Home. In the original script it was Chavez who messed up the memory spell, because Strange had fallen ill as a result of him messing around with the Darkhold and was unable to help. She also would've used her own abilities to bring in the other two Spider-Men to help fix things. Obviously things got shuffled around a bit and the explanation we ended up getting in NWH still kinda worked, but it did feel a little out-of-character and the original plan would've made a lot more sense.

Alex Stark

you met a real life Prof. X, well my dad's name is Tony Stark lol

Mastervodo

Hello Natalie! Yes you! Hello You! Like most who watched you through this movie, I loved it when it dawned on you that Sam Rami directed. And we heard you recognized the style from his Spiderman films. BUT! I am now very curious to see if you know him because of The Evil Dead series, and his long relationship with Bruce Campbell? Bruce being the guy hitting himself in the face in a callback to The Evil Dead film. Bruce was also in all 3 Spiderman films directed by Rami. If you have NOT seen The Evil Dead - please add that as a choice for your next "horror" film poll! Because that would be one I would love to see you react to! You would be cringing and laughing AT the same time through EVERY minute of that movie.

Jobard

The spell going wrong in No Way Home wasn’t Strange’s fault. He’d done it before for less. He was doing a favor for a friend. Peter’s the one who screwed it up by continuing to alter it after Strange told him not to, multiple times. Then Strange casts the same spell again at the end, and it works fine

Seth Workman

Even though you laughed at a lot of this movie. I hope you appreciate that marvel likes to switch up the style every now and then. That’s what I appreciated the most

Philip Davetas

I've seen this already. But I will watch it again with you, Nat. The thing about this whole multiverse stuff is that I feel there are no longer any stakes because they can always replace someone who's dead with a varient. But I will say, you just opened the door to doing more Sam Raimi movies. Oh, yes. More Sam Raimi.

Alissonbecker94

Great reaction! Glad you analysed the movie at the end, the way you did. Its very wacky but I love it. Big up to Elisabeth Olsen for another brilliant performance. Really glad marvel are taking chances in this new phase

Eric H

There's even some concept art of America in NWH, at the end battle

George Baxter

Yeah I wish they had stressed that something in the Universe had changed: after all the Loki's had broken the sacred timeline! Which I think meant that his memory spell spanned the multiverse when it shouldn't have. The MCU is struggling to make the TV shows impactful on the films. If the Loki series is the beginnings of King I think they should let it ripple more.

Byron

Dr. Strange has always been a trippy comic. Sam Raimi is the perfect director for this title. It’s gloriously bonkers and a little unsettling and still has heart. The Illuminati in this movie was a fairly faithful adaptation from the comics, and aside from some nitpicks, served the movie very well. Black Bolt’s demise was shocking but really showcased what makes Wanda so dangerous. I’m sad that her story arc ended here, but it also is fairly faithful to her comic counterpart, who often has alternated between hero and villain due to tragic circumstance and to the extent and nature of her power. I’m actually kind of glad you had the journey you did in watching this. There’s something special about those moments when a movie tips the scales to where you’re on board, and watching you have those moments with the corpse and when the credits rolled was a lot of fun.

Preferred User

I found your comments to be interesting... because I watched it the theatre and mine and my wife's comments after it were... "omg... I can't believe how accurate they were willing to go on this movie! That might have been the most comic book accurate movie that I've ever seen." lol There was so much fan service in that movie!

George Baxter

I honestly think Nat was harsh on Doctor Strange himself. Ultimately he's a jerk but at least on the same level as Tony Stark... They've actually made him a lot more relatable than in the comics. What makes Stephen Strange a great sorcerer is he's a hypocrite; he's imaginative and he breaks the rules. Ultimately being that way does more damage to himself than anyone else. Should he change? You could make the same argument about Tony. He sold weapons for years, created Ultron and damage control! We see in this film Stephen is a pragmatist but he always strives to save lives. And now we know why! He lost his sister... incidentally it was Sam Raimi who included that specific death. His brother died the same way... literally the man who introduced him to comic books.

Alvin Baca

There is no possible way to categorize universe's in an infinite multiverse. In actual quantum mechanics every quantum event has a binary outcome like a yes or not question. So every quantum event splits the universe into a new universe with different cascading outcomes. It also happens in larger scale phenomenon, say I flip a coin the universe splits in two, one for heads and one for tails. The more possible outcome's for lager scaled events have more outcomes, say im naming my universe and i choose to use numbers to represent it, it will spit infinitely. Say I choose to name my universe and the outcome i choose is 616, then flip a coin, you'll get a 616 universe where the event of flipping the coin post universe naming is head and tails splitting at that event yet sharing the past event of dubbing their universe 616. Its a misconception that there can only be one 616 universe. Also you have to consider multiple people from various universes might name the same universes with different names. We know more about quantum mechanics/ wave mechanics now than we did when those comics were written, and to hold on to the notion that there can only be one 616 universe is an error on your part. For a long time scientists in real life believed nothing could escape a black hole until Stephen hawking came along and discovered hawking radiation. We must be open to the idea that what we know could be wrong.

Alvin Baca

Also i want to point out tony stark was right about creating Ultron and the only reason ulrton truned out the way he did was because wanda implanted a nightmare in Tony's heads before letting him take the scepter when she could have totally stopped him from doing so. And also wanda may have destroyed the darkhold but strange has photographic memory. And im pretty sure she didn't destroy the darkhold in every universe just ones parallel in time. Time is a crazy thing.

NFXx

Going into this movie knowing Sam Raimi directed it does make a difference when watching it. Not just Spider-Man trilogy but his other past films. If you didn’t know Sam’s also known for making horror films so this was right up his alley. I really enjoyed this movie when first watching it in the theater, seeing how it’s both a horror and superhero film. Every one was great especially Elizabeth Olsen. Mostly everyone knew about Professor X since he was hinted in the first trailer, which Kevin Feige the president of the Marvel Films was kinda mad about that since he wasn’t supposed to shown at all prior to the film release. Same thing about Captain Carter in a different trailer and then everyone pretty much guessed there was some other variant of Captain Marvel, also teased in the first trailer. The Black Bolt cameo was a surprise. He’s actually the same character and actor from The Inhumans tv show a couple years ago. It only had one season cuz it was a flop but it was very cool that they brought him back in this way. The Mr Fantastic was a huge surprise. The people in my theater went crazy. When they announced a couple years ago that they were doing a Fantastic Four film one of the biggest fan casts was John Krasinski and that’s pretty much why he was casted in this. The first post credit scene with Clea (Charlize Theron) is a pretty big character that’s connected to Dr Strange so can’t wait to see more of them together. Overall really enjoyed your reaction. Also the last credit scene was kind split in the audience reactions. Half loved it and half hate it. It’s actually a reference to one of Sam Raimis film with the same actor. You should watch Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 in October. They’re great horror films.

Alvin Baca

Also kevin feige confirms that the events at the end of loki was what made it possible foe the spell to go haywire. So prior to loki any time he used that spell there was no possible chance to open into the multiverse because he who remains isolated that timeline and sylvie "uncollapsed" the timelines wave function so to say.

Curaitis

Didnt watch the whole reaction yet and im not triggered (haha) about Stephen Strange. Totally fine with her assesment but i find it interesting how it comes that someone dont like a character and like another even if that one should have been a mass murderer. (if her show would have been better written.)

Fostena

If you want to watch a superb movie with Elizabeth Olsen (and Jeremy Renner!) check out Wind River (2017).

ITZxJeff

Gotta watch everything everywhere all at once after this!

Simon

Very underrated movie. Don't think I've seen anyone react to it yet.

Steven Rose

It saddens me that most reactions I’ve seen don’t realize it’s the Puerto Rican flag on her jacket and just assume it’s the US flag because of her first name. America is not exclusive to the US.

Dante

Loved the different style of this movie. Sam Raimi's fingerprints are all over it. Definitely some whacky things with the writing, but the visuals are the best the MCU has to offer. Elizabeth Olsen also killed it.

MightyHobo

Best moment of the reaction is the Sam Raimi reveal.

MightyHobo

I couldn't agree more about the portrayal of magic. I remember thinking back in the day when Thor was announced how they would handle the mystic side of Marvel as they had focused on the more grounded heros up to that point. The answer was: just ok. This is the first Marvel movie to really translate the mystical comic book style to the big screen and of course Raimi was the man for the job.

Faith

“Where high art necessarily incorporates beauty and value, camp necessarily needs to be lively, audacious and dynamic. "Camp aesthetics delight in impertinence." Camp opposes satisfaction and seeks to challenge.” I think Raimi’s style was a cool approach, and agree this would’ve been a great Halloween release

Kayla

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who doesn't like Strange

DeadStillEating

The Bruce Campbell cameo was a good tip off that this was a Sam Raimi movie, but I suppose since you still haven't gotten to those evil dead movies you may have missed that ;)

Joe Blankenship

I wasn’t ready for how evil Wanda was going to be. I knew she would be some kind of villain but I thought there’d be a main villain. I guess the main villain was the Darkhold. But I’ve enjoyed her more and more on repeat viewings. It’s fun. And Sam Raimi has experience making movies around evil books.

This_Jedi_crafts

I think that, not being a fan of zombies or horror or gore, overall, maybe Nat didn't get that Sam Raimi directed The Evil Dead starring Bruce Campbell (spelling) and that, at least to me - this was Sam Raimi's way of paying tribute to his film making style, his film making roots, and his loyalty to Bruce Campbell (and that fandom).

Jahny Bravo

Dr.Strange's release date was kinda them being a bit cheeky. Dr.Strange: Multiverse of Madness abbreviates to Dr.Strange: MoM. The movie came out on Mother's day weekend. America Chavez loses her moms because of her power and Wanda's entire goal is using that same power to get to a universe with her children and become a mom again. Dr.Strange: MoM becomes a bit literal lol

kikoyito

Speaking of campyness, the king of camp Bruce Campbell was the food guy punching himself. I'd love for you to watch the Evil Dead movie trilogy and the T.V. series as well! It's not only one of the classics of horror, but the T.V. show really dialed upped everything great about the movies and it is one of my favorite series!

Roook

LOL at the Sam Raimi reveal. I knew he directed this but this movie still threw me for a loop. I was not expecting any of this

Ilsuk Yang

So, the campiness and the horror elements, all Sam Raimi. I consider this movie to be a mid-tier MCU movie. For the release date, it kept getting pushed back repeatedly. I think there was a fall release at some point, perhaps even multiple points. Also, America is supposedly only 14 years old in this movie, which is the reason everyone calls her a kid (not sure how old the actual actress is). We find out that Wong is the sorcerer supreme in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Anyways, I enjoyed your reaction as always, Nat!

Jayson Phillips

Yeah it was more Evil Dead like than Spider man like,

Jason Dolan

This is an underrated MCU movie for me, as Sam Raimi really brought something fresh and amazing and Evil Deady to the franchise.

PenniePepper

Honestly, Nat throwing her arms up halfway through and giving up trying to make sense of it all is one of my favourite things I've seen on this channel. Great reaction! I really loved this film myself, and I hope this isn't the end of Wanda.

Chris

wind river! lets get more elizabeth olsen and jeremy renner in dramatic rolls!

Taff Lewis

1stly: don't ever, ever, ever, apologize for giving your honest perspective. I expect most are for here for your personal opinions on movies we love; AND, more importantly experiencing others watch and experience those movies for the first time. Keep being you, don't ever hold back. You referenced style? all Rami =] Thank you for noticing at the end. After "Evil Dead 2", this is easily my "2nd" favorite in the Evil Dead presentation in the library [So far=] Nat! Review Bruce Campbell's movie list. Guys, was there even a Constantine reference in this one? maybe? Christine fighting the damned? Too long since WandaVision; you didn't comment that 3rd-eye Strange's power was Agatha-Purple. Just like maybe 838 Christine might end up with 616 Strange, Maybe America will find a universe where "the Boys" have lost their mom for 616 Wanda to go to? also loved your reaction to Strange- along the lines of "America is Lost" , Similar to those of "Matty get the Scotch". Don't ever edit these out. Nat, Thank you for your work!

John Piazza

The guy punching himself was Bruce Campbell. He was in Army of Darkness and Evil Dead

Chris Lane

Note: High-end mechanical watches don't use/need a battery :p I really enjoyed this movie and your watchthrough. I don't disagree about Dr. Strange, I think he is supposed to be problematic. I also enjoyed Wanda wrecking shop and seeing how much sheer power she has. I hope she comes back somehow in another movie/show (Maybe House of Harkness?). I love a lot of the directing in this movie...the horror stuff is really well done.

Jules

Great reaction, Sam Raimi is the master of camp. I loved it when it clicked for you that the camp and cheese was intentional. I will say though that you are one of the few people I’ve seen who doesn’t like Doctor Strange —- which is cool, I love to see new perspectives. I don’t disagree with you as to your criticisms with his character, but the reason a lot of people love him is because of those criticisms (he’s human, he fucks up). I think the one thing I disagree with you on is that Doctor Strange wasn’t showing off for Peter Parker, I think he legitimately wanted to help him and felt bad for the kid. Wong also knew what Strange was doing, and didn’t forbid it (so as sorcerer supreme, that makes Wong kind of culpable, too). The other thing is that the shit that went down in No Way Home was like a billion to one. It took : 1. Peter fucking it up and changing the spell SIX times, 2. Loki and Sylvie messing with the multiverse in their Disney show, and (as you so adroitly put it) 3. the fact that the plot necessitated this improbable fuck up to happen so that we could see Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield again.

Nicholas Sulikowski

My thoughts: In fairness to Steven, he didn't cast a spell to change the past. He cast a spell to make everyone forget that Peter was Spider-Man. And somehow plus Peter's constant changes translated into breaking reality somehow. But Steven's original spell was basically just like the Men in Black doing a neuralizer to a whole planet. Just modifying memories. But I digress with this nitpick. Anywho.... With America Chavez' name, I kinda figured if you were called America from birth and you could travel to many different realities, many at which have a nation called America, maybe at some point you'd start wearing stars and stripes as a joke. Because you'd notice that in many realities, America is a nation. And that would mentally affect the shape of her portals. Into stars. The whole IMAX refers to the aspect ratio. Standard ratio for anamorphic film widescreen is 2.35:1 or 2.39:1. The primary 9 Star Wars films are like this. This superwide format usually results in black bars on the top and bottom of your standard HDTV screen.. With IMAX, what happens is they add more picture to the top and bottom of the frame. And ideally, you end up with a movie that at home, completely fills your widescreen HDTV set at 16:9 ratio. And so you don't get black bars on the top and bottom of the screen. This movie Doctor Strange in the MOM totally filled the screen a lot of the time. (Though some movies have an IMAX ratio so tall, they end up looking like a fullscreen 4:3 square ratio from the old school 90s CRT TVs. Zack Snyder's Justice League is like this. Almost a square ratio.) Regarding the film's style, yep, that's Sam Raimi for you! A rare talent that can blend horror, action, and comedy in such a unique way. And there's also a good number of references to his work in this. Some are just visual similarities to his shooting styles. Other are flat-out easter eggs. Some of the bizarre dramatic zoom-ins are Raimi. The whole sequence with the souls of the damned yelling at Strange felt a lot like Rami's Evil Dead films, as did a few other shots. Then finally you've got actor Bruce Campbell. He played the main character Ash Williams in Sam Raimi's horror trilogy The Evil Dead way back in the day. He then had cameos in all three Spider-Man films. (As the wrestling ring announcer, the rude theater usher, and the French waiter.) In this film, he was "Pizza Poppa", the vendor of the pizza balls who is stuck punching his face for three weeks.

Brian Jones

This movie was a schizophrenic mess..... Not horrible per say, but another swing and a miss for this phase of Marvel movies. Marvel really needs to get their shit together in the writing department ASAP.

Fawks

Ah damn, a shame. Natalie No Fun they call her!

Matthew Periolat

“Guys, what the —— is this?!?” So worth the watch for that moment alone. Seriously, it’s fine if Strange is not your hero. He is an arrogant prick at times and not for all tastes. You hitch your wagon to your hero and go with it. It’s your journey after all. I will admit, this movie was not what I was expecting either. I was not a fan of this sense of a backslide for Wanda’s character, but I just told myself it wasn’t Wanda, it was the Darkhold driving Wanda. I do find comfort that I doubt very much we have seen the last of her either. I’m not going to explain all references or ties, suffice to say a lot is fan service, which is fine. Might see again, might not, we’ll see. I will also agree this is very much a Sam Raimi project. As long as you know, it’s fine. Personally, not my cuppa, but all good. This was fine and the ride on the coaster was great too. And better still, in current times, I’m a week away from cashing in my ticket for the next one. Look forward to more Marvel and other adventures. Still Golden.

Jimmy

You aren't wrong about strange to be fair, I think he still has a lot of that ego he's had since his first movie as a surgeon, thinking he can fix everything himself and still needing to be the hero and solve every problem. Great reaction though thanks :)

Erik Stevenson

Man, I absolutely love this movie. I know a lot of people are pretty mixed on it, but Sam Raimi's flavor on top of a fun MCU story just hits the exact right spot for me. Maybe a top 5 MCU movie for me!

Opti_Frog

I don't think Marvel has explained the multiverse in any way, shape or form, and i think they portray the multiverse as something separate from alternate timelines. Think of how Strange went forward in time in Infinity War to view "alternate futures". If we think of this in terms of the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics, fourteen million, six hundred and five possible futures is hardly even a drop in the ocean. And i don't think we're supposed to believe that Strange viewed the kinds of alternate realities that they visit in Multiverse of Madness. It's weird, but we might have to think of alternate realities in the MCU as completely separate from each other. They are not alternate because of the many-worlds interpretation. But then, the Loki show kind of implies that they are. I don't think it's possible to make sense of it 😅

calum1

First time i watch it in the cinema i hated how corny this movie was because i was expecting a tone similar to the first strange movie. I have to say that this second watch through has completely changed my mind, I readjusted my expectations and i loved this watch along 😂. So weird how viewpoints can change when looking at stuff through a different perspective.

Opti_Frog

If someone calls themselves a Sam Raimi fan but never recommends a reactor to watch Drag me to Hell they should hand their fan card back, because that is the most Sam Raimi movie Sam Raimi has done since the Evil Dead trilogy. 😊😈

Lisa Tosti

This movie felt SO much like Army of Darkness and the Evil Dead movies. Bruce Campbell who stars in all of them also makes cameos in all the Raimi Spiderman movies and he is Pizza Poppa in this. Sitting in the movie theater for this one felt SO much like watching Raimi's work. The Evil Dead and Army of Darkness might be fun for you to explore for Natmares in October.

Nicholas Sulikowski

Natalie, during Halloween, should absolutely check out The Evil Dead Trilogy, plus Drag Me to Hell. (With the knowledge of course that, The Evil Dead is low budget pure horror, Evil Dead II is horror comedy, and the threequel Army of Darkness is just slapstick adventure. Drag Me to Hell, an unrelated standalone film meanwhile, is Raimi's return to horror.) But more importantly, is BRUCE CAMPBELL! Star of The Evil Dead Trilogy, and cameo actor in so many Sam Raimi films, including the Spider-Man Trilogy and this film!

Patrick Egan

For me, this is definitely one of the weakest MCU movies, it was just messy. But it does have one truly good quality, it gave us a live action Captain Carter. Hayley Atwell looked SO badass in this movie, holy crap.

Jenna Antonelli

Hahaha Im SOOO glad you saw who directed it at the end there. I spent most of this watch along saying 'BECAUSE ITS SAM RAIMI' at my screen lol But yes because you didnt see any of the trailers or promo you wouldnt have known. They did A LOT of promoting that this was a Sam Raimi flick so anyone going into the theater to see it would have known from the get go. If you've ever seen any of his Evil Dead flicks you would notice all the classic references and techniques he used in this movie. The very last end credit is also a reference too. Anyways, im sure you'd enjoy this with a rewatch knowing what youre in for cause otherwise..it can be a bit much lol

xander

Elizabeth Olsen is just incredible. In theatres she had me terrified, and moments later crying with her. She's so so talented, and the scene where Wanda breaks down in front of 838 Wanda is so powerful with literally one single line throughout the entire scene. it's crazy how amazing of an actress she is

Daniel McGuinness

Here I am, ready to watch another full length marvel movie with Nat since NWH 😅 let’s gooooo!!

yurrrjo

Your Sam Raimi reaction *chef's kiss* I also wanted to mention the New York with all that foliage you liked (Earth 838) did you notice how Objects were colorful but the clothes people wore were all black (or just different shades of black and grey)

Joshua Sheffer

Now, it's time to watch a real multiverse movie, Everything Everywhere All at Once, please :)

OddThomas

One of my fave Marvel movies!

George Baxter

I'd argue that its not fan service; fan service has cameos that people enjoy, they are easy and cheap. Here heroes we've come to know in one form or another are introduced and massacred because of their own stubborn refusal to recognise Wanda as a threat! The scene also demonstrates how monstrous Wanda has become! If these characters weren't introduced how would the writers show that? By killing Christine... If anything they are essential to the plot!

Philip Davetas

I wasn't a fan of this movie. I liked it more for watching Sam Raimi's craft. And in all his movies there are EVIL DEAD references and this was all ED references. The Pizza Poppa scene was clearly no exception. I really don't like this whole multiverse stuff because there never seem to be stakes. Also, the heroes in most of these universes suck. They're all getting killed. But really if they're killed they'll just bring them back as a variant. This whole Phase 4 really isn't working for me. I skipped most of the D+ series and not really looking forward to a lot of the movies. I mean, I'll watch them because I'm stupid, but that's just hope they might be entertaining. Oh, and EVIL DEAD. You know what to do.

Chris Gronau

As for recommendations of which movies to react to in the future, I would recommend A Knight's Tale (a light, fun movie to counteract the intensity of Daredevil), Knives Out (another fun movie), Wind River (a mystery with Jeremy Renner and Elisabeth Olsen), Airplane! (two hours worth of Dad jokes crammed into 90 minutes), The Prestige (a twisty Christopher Nolan movie starring Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale) or The Last of the Mohicans (a hauntingly beautiful movie with Daniel Day Lewis and Madeleine Stowe).

David Nesbit

You don’t really need to watch the other Fantastic Four movies, since they are not part of this MCU universe. They are somewhat interesting especially the first one. The reason John Krasinski was cast in this movie is he and his wife Emily Blunt are or were campaigning to play Reed Richard’s and his wife Sue Storm.

David Nesbit

Also a lot of the MCU fanboys and girls seem to want them in those roles as well

David Nesbit

One more thing, this is for everyone who watches movies. There is a free app called Runpee for your phone, that will let you know the best times to use the restroom facilities or make a run to the snack bar for more refreshments. It lets you know how much time you have and more importantly it also lets you know if there are any extra scenes at the end of the movie. Thanks.

FatLittleButterfly

Disney bought fox. Now they are finding ways to integrate mutants into the MCU. From this movie, they introduce the mutants, inhumans, fantastic four, etc exist somewhere now and they can bring them in along for the ride! I am not convinced that Wanda is gone. No body no death

sharmcant

Great reaction!! Is it also possible for you to react to Everything Everywhere All At Once? That one is also a trip

Onno Smits

God I hate this movie. 😂 No shade to those that liked it, it just really wasn't my flavour. I liked the final scene with the two Wanda's. Everything else, I either disliked, or straight up hated. It's so campy, so zany, so cringey, and the story makes almost no sense. Ugh. Natalie's reaction was good though. I'm looking forward to what's next!

K.N.

This is one of my favorite Natalie reactions ever, due mostly to two moments: 1) Her reaction to seeing Sam Raimi's name show up at the end of the movie 2) Strange: "I was scared." Natalie: "So in every universe Doctor Strange is a little bitch."

giovanni

Jesus, Natalie lol. Dont upload this in public youtube LOL

NotlobParrot

I would DIE if she actually watched "A Knight's Tale". Great idea!

Philip Davetas

I heard about this a while ago. I don't like the idea that some has decided for me which bit of information is important. I typically watch movies more for just data. I like to see how things are framed. I'm sure a lot of people just consume information rather than watching for cinematic aesthetics, but that's me. Otherwise, the pause button still works.

David Nesbit

The app is actually intended for people who watch movies at their local cinema. Obviously if you are watching at home using a streaming service or dvd/bluray you would just pause the movie. Same thing for the extra scenes, so you wouldn't waste your time in the theater waiting for nothing.

Florian Hoyer

yes john is in the main cast of fanta 4 with jessica alba as his wife :) wondering if he is also in the new one from marvel xD also this movie is so criminal underrated a 9/10 of me i fuckn love it xD reimi also did the EVIL DEAD movies and this movie rly goes back to evil dead xD its like he was born to make this movie here xD

Florian Hoyer

btw the pizza guy is the main actor from the evil dead franchise where raimi started his career and where evil dead 1 they made for just peanuts of money with basicly backyard tech xD and to this day evil dead 3 is my favorite "comedy horror" movie xD

David Nesbit

Mr Fantastic was played by Iona Gruffold in the original FF movie not John Krasinski

Yasin

Spoilers for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows @1:26:13

Omni Jacala

John and Emily definitely weren't campaigning themselves to play those characters. It's purely been the fans who have been pushing for it, and I feel like it's really just a bandwagon. I don't think there's anything about Krasinski that makes him particularly well-suited to playing Reed Richards, and I think a large part of the reasons fans want it is because they believe that the natural chemistry they have in real life as a married couple would benefit the characters on screen. If anything, Emily Blunt seems more annoyed with the constant questions of whether she is interested in playing the character when she's doing press for her other work, which is really inconsiderate of journalists.

XadeChronos

It would be awesome to see you watch the original Evil Dead Trilogy. Also the Fantastic 4 movies. Those movies were my childhood. The second Fantastic 4 movie is the earliest theater memory I have. So they hold a special place in my heart.

Jonathan D

$951 million dollars later.

Isaiah Mesa

It was supposed to release during Halloween but Covid ruined that.

Daniel Molina

IMAX enhanced on Disney+ basically means you get more picture (larger aspect ratio) and louder boom booms 🤣

Isaiah Mesa

You aren't wrong for not liking Dr. Strange. My sister dislike him more than you. I love him. We are all have a character that we role our eyes at. Mine is Captain America. I still like him overall but he is such a square his stubbornness gets on my nerves. Not because he is stubborn but because everyone acts like he's perfect.

Robert Cavan

Another Multiverse movie that you should watch is "Everything Everywhere All At Once" it was such a great watch. I definitely recommend!

Marty McGee

Wind River is a very good underrated movie. It's very dark and depressing though, dealing with grief and loss, with a little bit of the system really sucks for some groups of people thrown in there. I think that's why it doesn't get a lot of reactions. I forgot that Elizabeth Olsen was in it though. Knives Out is an awesome whodunnit movie and The Prestige is vintage Nolan! Great suggestions!

matthew h

Wind River is a gem. Would like to see a reaction for it.

ork89757

I totally agree, although it was hinted at the end of WandaVision that Wanda will be affected by the Darkhold, the writing of this movie basically defied everything happened in the show. We watched Wanda go through grief, self-deception, more grief, then acceptance and redemption in the show, but in this movie she just became pure evil, and in the end there was basically no redemption. I like the visuals in Dr Strange, but this one is defenitely not a good movie in my opinion.

Luke

Should definitely watch Sam Raimi's Evil Dead for halloween.

Miki

The interesting thing is the continuity of the Marvel logo... No Peter Parker/Spider Man in this one.

Miki

Xochitl Gomez really knocked it out of the park playing America Chavez, she was barely 14 when they filmed this!

Richard Maurer

This awful mess is now one of my favorite MCU movies.

Richard Maurer

Yeah, as the tower on Wundagor fell you see a flash of red magic. Wanda leaving the collapse?

Richard Maurer

The mistake they made is the Marvel comics universe is 616. Since the MCU and the comics universe are clearly not the same they can't both be 616. They should have made the MCU 617 as nod to the comics.

Richard Maurer

When I first saw this movie in the theatre I was a bit disappointed but after my second viewing on Disney+ I came to love this movie and realized my initial disappointment came from my expectations about what the movie would be about rather than what it was. It has now become one of my favorite MCU movies. The women Charlize Theron plays in the end credits scene is Clea (not a spoiler - she's credited as Clea), a very important character in the Dr. Strange comics.

Jules Readner

I love hearing your honest opinion, Nat! And it was fun rewatching this movie with you. I had to laugh when you said Wanda needs her own horror flick because by then you didn't realize that you're already watching it. I LOVED the horror elements in this movie so much.

Game Wizard001

I feel like in No Way Home Doctor Strange felt he owed Peter Parker/Spider-Man because he did get him blipped for 5 years. His choice to give up the Time Stone did have a lot of consequences and I suspect, but have not real proof at this time, that he felt guilty and decided to give him this one thing. Was it the right choice, absolutely not especially when he finds out after the fact that Peter never even considered let alone tried to talk with the college admins to try and appeal their decision. Like he was under the impression that he was a smart kid, little weird but who isn't, but smart enough to understand how things works in that way. But also the practical answer is, he did what he did so the plot could happen, hahaha.

Game Wizard001

Also if you want to see really off the wall Sam Rami work, watch Evil Dead 2. Could watch the first one, but 2 is waaay more campy and zany for a horror film.

Eric Brown

On an unrelated recommendation - RRR - It's an epic Indian Movie that's definitely worth a watch!

G Child

Just watched “Multiverse of Madness” on patreon, (I watched your YouTube edit when it first came out). It was refreshing to hear somone have the same opinion as I did on the whole “No Way Home” plot. Peter Parker and Stephen Strange are 2 of like 7 of the most brilliant people in the entire MCU and they both made absolutely stupid decisions to facilitate the plot of that movie. It was entertaining of course, but dumb as hell! And I’m sure several people have already told you this, but the “Illuminati” is a secret group in the comics made up of Marvel’s most intelligent superheroes that make tough decisions on the sly. Tony Stark, T’Challa, Prof. X, and Dr. Strange are some of the members. Some versions of the group sent the Hulk away and that’s how he became the gladiatorial champion on an alien planet (like in Thor: Ragnarok).

Ulrich Unterbrunner

And the smartest man alive to Wanda: "Wanda. We know of a way to get your children and keep them safe. Black Bolt, tell her." But that was in another universe.

Tay Schumaker

Glad that Nat realized Raimi is a hack

FearTheTREMOR

"I can't agree with someone's style, so they must be hacks."

jamie jones

Technically wanda could read reed’s mind and would understand his plan.

Chuck Eberhart

For those of you that got the Bruce Campbell reference at the end... Bravo

Ulrich Unterbrunner

Also technically one of the worlds most powerful telepaths could block her from doing so. But these are technicalities. What's not, was the unsmart decision to threaten a powerful being and pointing out the used weapon, its location and means of function.

Daniel Vezina

Everything, everywhere, all at once... tomorrow ?????

Misty Crom

Belated here, only just getting round to this (been ill and distracted). I do agree about Strange in No Way Home. Whilst, sure, it would've made the movie like 20 minutes long, surely he'd have thought to sit Peter down and 1. Ask if he tried talking to the dean FIRST and b. at least ask before starting the spell if there's anyone he should exclude? But then also, didn't Peter tellhim how it hapenned? "So... would it be better if I just make everyone forget THAT instead, Peter?" Oh yeah, why didn't I think of that!" They go to college, movie's over. ... But I guess, to borrow from Pitch Meetings;, Strange has to be weirdly stupid right there "So that the movie can happen".

Misty Crom

One little thing I just remembered Elizabeth Olsen saying in an interview... towards the end when the kids are throwing stuff at her to protect their Wanda and she yells at them, one of the toys hit her in the face and hurt her, so her yelling STOP IT, she was genuinely angry in the moment. - she apologised after, but kinda interesting little thing.

The Jarl

Sam Raimi always seems to just be having fun while making movies. Might I recommend one of his other movie series The Evil Dead, really campy horror movies with the pizza balls vendor Bruce Cambell in the lead

Jundae

Jundae I honestly loved every bit of this movie. This is my fifth time watching this now and I still don't understand why people didn't like this movie or thought it was weird. But to each their own. Maybe I'm just weird. As always great reaction Natalie.

Logan Kerlee

Enjoyed your take on this! I watched this incredibly late, I know. I first watched this on it's release but I enjoyed watching again with you. :)

Logan Kerlee

Gotta love Bruce Cambell tied together with Raimi! They're a great pair.

Logan Kerlee

Ooooh, I LOVE that movie! I'd super enjoy a reaction to that! RRR is an incredible watch. :)

Dave Olden

But this isn’t theoretical physics! It’s a fantasy movie! And in the comic books it was based on, the writers said, Hey we need to keep track of our locations, so we’ll number them to keep everything straight. And the movie makers said, we’ll number the universes like the comics. It’s no more complicated than that.
