Happy Tatooine Tuesday Nat. Another "Guess the Moment" thumbnail today, and another awesome intro, especially you in the shirt 😊 Missing the golden glow from your lamp today. "You could have just gone around" You're not the first person to have said that Nat. There is a good story at the heart of this show, but there is a lot of unnecessary scenes that are there to pad it out to 6 episodes. A Fan Edit is online that runs 2.5 hours and it just makes the story flow better. I also think that so much more would be added to the show if they had used John Williams' original themes. I loved you being betrayed by Freck. "You're a little snitch, bitch" ha ha Thanks for reaction today Nat. Your honesty and your tell-it-like-it-is opinion is a huge part of what make your videos the best..... and your wackiness 🤗 💛

Randee Carreno

Happy Tuesday, Natalie! 😊 This is one of my favorite episodes. Got the introduction of one of my favorite new characters, Tala. And we got to see Obi-Wan and Vader come face to face with each other for the first time in ten years. I loved the way Obi-Wan described the Force of Leia. Whenever I watch this episode, I'm always reminded of a couple of interviews that Ewan and Hayden gave during the press tour. Ewan said that the first time that he saw Hayden in the Vader costume it scared the crap out of him. And Hayden that Vader is more brutal than he was in "Rogue One". And after watching this episode, I believe them both. LOL! Have a great day today! 😊 Until the next video, Stay Golden! 💛

Chen

There is a third season of The Mandalorian, it's called The Book of Boba Fett lol

ButtyOh

FYI Freck has a cool sounding voice because he's voiced by Zach Braff, aka JD from Scrubs

Philip Davetas

The problems you're having with the show get worse. The problem narratively speaking is trying to create conflict when you already know who's going to be alive when A NEW HOPE starts. I'm not watching this show with you, however, I do watch your intros and outros just to see where you're at with this. I think you were better off watching BOBA FETT/MANDO 2.5. You're gonna need to for season three. BOBA FETT has it's own problems, but at least it's more satisfying.

Joshua Kon

The show is pretty bad and Natalie is feeling pretty much like I did. Obi-wan just slaps an audience in the face too many times with the obvious action being ignored. This episode with Vader letting Obi-wan get away like that is just poor writing 101

Matt cooke

Everybody I know loved the series , sure it’s not perfect but starwars has never ever ever been perfect , this show was fantastic though , people just look for flaws , vader clearly toying with obiwan and probs not a fan of fire …

Bou Sculpts

You can get a decent product even if you're telling a story that's set in a previous time to known events. As with the prequels, you know Obi Wan has to survive no matter what, and Anakin turns to the dark side and becomes Vader. That's not even close to being the main issue with this series.

Jenny Tolls

Star Wars fan are literally the most annoying people out there 🙄 y’all are complaining so much about the show when it’s not bad at all. Like nothing ever pleases you guys. What do you want?? Lol what would have made Obi-Wan perfect? What else do you want? It was a good show. I enjoyed it and so did a lot of people. Stop nitpicking and complaining about the dumbest shit.

Bou Sculpts

Yeah man. His "blow fire off with the force" was on cooldown, since he'd just used it. When there's a couple flaws, complaining about them is called nitpicking. When a bunch of them pile up, it's way too obvious to ignore.

ButtyOh

This is the 3rd time I'm watching this average at best TV series (once on my own when it aired, once with another reaction channel and now here) and honestly once was more than enough Should have gone with Bobba Fett instead 👎

Ally Driver

Dude is calling Bobba fett better than Obi Wan lmfao

Bou Sculpts

Star Wars fans loved Mandalorian, because even with flaws, it was a decent show. So was Season 2. There is no such thing as a hive mind that tell them what to think. This show has too many flaws to be ignored. It's tripping constantly. Bad direction, bad editing (the "chase" scene in the quarry on this episode is horrible) and characters acting unreasonably out of character. The acting is pretty good, everyone does what they need to do, and the story is just Star Wars level decent. It's not a matter of content, it's a matter of execution for the most part. There was a story to be told and they failed miserably, telling it the worst way possible. Natalie is seeing those huge flaws and failed logic that's popping out constantly without outer influence.

Joshua Kon

Im not a star wars fan, I just call it as I see it with shows. You dont show a villian using X powers 1 second then just not use them 3 minutes later when their enemy is being dragged away, especially as slow as a snail. When you get 3+ of those an episode without very much character arc progression its a sloppy and poorly written show. If anything star wars fans are more likely to accept this lack of quality because, "its star wars".

Nautilus1492

Hi Nat and thanks for this new funny reaction! 😄(Especially one "quote" you said destroyed me 🤣, so unexpected hahaha) The flags and symbols can be seen in the other films, but they are subtile, but in CW they have more visibility, the symbol Reva saw was the Jedi's logo And Vader let Obi Wan go in in the hope he'll lead him to rebels or other jedi, that's how I see the thing hahaha Anyway, can't wait for your next content! I hope you're fine, take care, be safe and stay golden! 💛

Bou Sculpts

Bobba Fett had some weird moments (like the mod kids and the stupid chase scenes) but it's overall a better season than Obi Wan, by the mile. It has 2 episodes that are just better than this entire series.

Joshua Kon

Neither would be best option if it was just overall enjoyment but star wars gets viewers. Cant blame reactors for watching them

ButtyOh

Yeah I did. I preferred Fett to this show that as said above was average at best

Joshua Kon

Oh tomorrows episode 4 is going to be so bad for her. One of the worst Disney plus episodes out there

Philip De Leon

I get the criticism on Vader's actions, but 1. he wants Obi-Wan to suffer, and 2. He wants Obi-Wan to potentially lead him to others. Like most fiction villains, instead of ending it quickly they prefer to draw it out. It's the same tactic they used in the original Star Wars A New Hope when they "let" Leia and the Millenium Falcon go to find the rebel base.

john collins

I think this feels much more compelling when you already know about the inquisitors. If you didn't catch it the 5th said he was next in line after the grand inquisitor kinda hinting that they die pretty regularly.

John

Who's more annoying, the one who complains about the show or the one who complains about people complaining about the show? I enjoyed the series, but it has some sloppy writing and editing. My complaint with that is it takes you out of the story and kills suspension of disbelief. I like the overall story, but some individual scenes and transitions just make no sense.

Joshua Kon

We know from the next episode number 2 is completely false. Like 100000000% false. Which means number 1 makes less sense because the best way to make him suffer is to capture him.

Bou Sculpts

Watching Nat reacting to Obi Wan is kinda like watching her going through the last season of GoT. We suffered the damage done in a broadly loved franchise, and now, we get entertainment by watching her suffer too :D. If even Natalie is openly critisizing the series (something actually pretty brave for a reactor to do, lmao) that's because there's clearly something wrong going on.

Bou Sculpts

Vader "lets him go" so that he can lead them to others but then he blames Reva for letting him go, since she put a tracker on him to lead them to others? Doesn't make much sense, does it?

Philip Davetas

No. You're right. You can create decent prequel conflict, but my point was this isn't the story or the characters to do it with. There are greater issues that Nat's talking about conserning Reva and the lack of narrative tension and those issues get worse.

Steve SG-1

(Waves Jedi hand) These are not the Writing, Producing, Directing you are looking for. Natalie this is the B team of Lucasfilm tv. However I will say the performances are mostly good. Trust me you will enjoy Boba Fett more when you eventually get to it.

Brian Jones

Judging by the comments, it's good to hear Nat is pointing out so much of the bad in the show. It's so obvious that it's pretty hard to miss. The confrontation with Vader in this episode was like something out of a slapstick comedy, and Obi-Wan acting like a bumbling idiot and just blurting out Leia's name in front of the storm troopers was just pathetic. It's like the writers had no idea who they were writing for.🤦 Thanks for being honest Nat, this show did a pretty good job of killing my interest in future Star Wars projects. Maybe they can turn it around, but this show was a dumpster fire.

Brian Jones

@Ally Driver Dude was right. I wasn't even a fan of the Fett show, and I can admit it's miles better than Obi-Wan.🤦

JonBlake

I don’t care what anyone says I love this show 🖕🏻 😛 🖕🏻

Wex

I could have sworn that was Seth Rogan! I wasn’t even going to double-check!

PandaLeHey

Does this show have issues? Yes. Do I, an old Star Wars fan, care? Outside of the leia chase scenes, not really. The obvious flaw with the Star Wars shows is the reluctance to just tell a new story that doesn’t involve old characters.

Philippe Dessaints

The only logical reason I can see Vader letting Obi Wan get away is that he wouldn't be proud to kill weakling Ben Kenobi when his revenge would be a lot sweeter killing the actual jedi master Obi Wan. But to put it mildly, this show has a tendancy to make characters look like absolute idiots (the chases scenes, Vader here, Obi wan most of the season, etc.)

ButtyOh

I wasnt sure the first time I watched it (back when it aired) but I looked it up afterwards and its definitely JD from Scrubs

Brian Jones

Don't worry, there will still be those that live in perpetual denial. Such is the way with fandom.🤷

Jam

Vader let him go, because he was disappointed in the lack of fight he put up. Vaders ego wouldn't let him win easily.

Matt cooke

If we gonna complain about that why didn’t vader do more to get the plans at the end of rogue one , why did the emperor just let himself get thrown to his death at the end of 6, nobody has issues with like blindfolding himself to make his miracle shit in 4, there are a thousand things you can find flaw in from every movie and show , it’s a space western not designed to be nit picked at , I could go in but seeing how much joy you get from others not enjoying stuff too says it all, so many “fans” hate everything that isn’t exactly what they would have done , obiwan is not prepared to fight , he is rusty , mentally broken man , that was lost on so many people. This episode was great , im sorry you didn’t enjoy it but more so sorry your happy others also are not … that’s really sad that you need to feel vindicated that badly 😞

Matt cooke

Or differing views maybe 🤔

Joe Angeles

You sound like a true SW fan, complaining about everything😆

Jam

Something like Star Wars will never make complete sense in continuity terms those who watch it and pick it apart for those reasons I don't understand. Enjoyed this reaction! Hate the comments section. This show has a few issues, but acting like it's destroying the beloved franchise is ridiculous. Every trilogy has had issues, so why are we making such a big deal with the shows having them.

john collins

I might just be biased because I'm a big star wars fan but I felt like Vader was actually well done in this episode. The "random killing" wasn't random imo it was delivering on the whole "Jedi hunt themselves" line all of the inquisitors have been using in the last two episodes and showing who they learned it from. Also, letting obi wan go wasn't him being weak. Like they just showed that he could have easily put out that fire and control his body with the force so it was his choice to let him go. The reason he didn't is up for interpretation but it might be the good left in him showing or it could be his ego. It felt like he wanted this to be a real duel as though this whole time he's just wanted a final conclusion to that battle in episode 3. He wants a rematch of the best obi-wan but against the best vader. However, obi-wan was weak and frail. He could barely use the force and could hardly swing a lightsaber. The shot of the helmet and kind of giving vaders POV of obi getting carried off made it feel like he was disappointed that this was his best and that letting him escape might actually let him get that battle rather than just killing him. It seems less about simply torturing obi and more about proving to himself and obi that he has become better than obi-wan could ever be and then torture and death.

Brian Jones

Nah, it's straight up denial.🙄

PandaLeHey

If one of my best friends left me to die a multiple amputee on fire, best believe I’m going to make their life a living hell if I survive.

J.C.G.

From a character perspective, the Vader/Obi-wan scene doesn't make a lot of motivational sense. From a narrative, story structure perspective, I can see what why this was done, and I am fine with it. The notion of who and what Vader is has become so ingrained in our collective pop culture that even though we never really see him do anything on the level of Palpatine's or Yoda's strength in the force during the Prequel or Original trilogy, the idea that he is incapable of anything, just doesn't sit right.

J.C.G.

Jenny, might want to change your comment, as it has spoilers - but to your point, people seem to have issues reconciling it whenever Vader 'seems' to fail at something, "How can Vader ever allow . . . " and "Vader would always . . .". This is not a good thing, but I would argue very prevalent

John

There's a lot in this series that calls back to the animated series Clone Wars and Rebels. The Inquisitors and their rotating lightsabers are pulled directly from those series. Quinlan Vos was also a Jedi Master from the animated series. (the one who wrote the message on the wall that Obi-Wan read) Nat, you mentioned nobody cares Reva killed the Grand Inquisitor. That's pretty standard for any Empire/Dark Side group. A Sith apprentice becomes a master by killing their master. The issues you point out are the types of things that take me out of the story, like Vader was just holding Obi-Wan like a rag doll with the Force, but couldn't stop a loader droid from carrying him away? Or how Reva follows Leia down the tunnel, but Leia then runs into her at the exit of the tunnel... um, what? Definitely a lot of writing and story issues like that. You also mentioned how Obi-Wan has lost all hope. That is correct. He's a broken and defeated man at the beginning of the series. Fitting that the Star Wars Episode 4 is called "A New Hope."

John

That's an interesting way to view it. Not sure I agree but it's a valid concept.

Chris Geyer

They didn’t know which transport or exactly where Obi-Wan escaped to so the storm troopers weren’t looking for him there that’s just an empire mining colonyWhich is why there was so many there

Ernesto

The main thing is how much they are stretching with the very little story they had. That's why I think a lot of the conveniences feel completely artificial. You know, sometimes a film/show can have something that makes things easier but all the episodes so far of Obi-won consistenly create a convenience. I think the show should have been shorter or a movie, which would have helped.

Kevin Mowery

I can't get all the comments to load, so I don't know if what I'm about to say has been said. It's not that everyone just shrugs about Reva killing the Grand Inquisitor. In her conversation with Vader, she says Obi-Wan must pay for the Grand Inquisitor, so she's telling everyone Obi-Wan killed him when he escaped. And the reason they didn't tell the stormtroopers Obi-Wan would be traveling with Leia is that Reva went *way* off-book with the kidnapping of Leia. Bail Organa, her father, is kind of a big deal in the Senate, and we're still about ten years out from the point when the Emperor dissolved the Senate. Organa's not letting it be known his daughter was kidnapped because he doesn't want the attention on Leia. But the Empire isn't saying they kidnapped her because that might turn a lot of people against them. Even in Episode IV, there were a lot of systems that openly opposed the Empire. The Death Star was intended to get them in line for fear of getting exploded.

Jenny Tolls

Doesn't she have comment moderators? If not I'll delete it because I don't want to spoil anything

Richard Church

As for why Vader didn't do anything to get Obi-Wan back when the droid came, I think he wanted Obi-Wan to be worried. He let him go so Obi-Wan's fear of him would rise even more than it already was. And that symbol Reva was looking at was the Jedi Order sigil. Seeing how many Jedi and other young Force users escaped through the path likely upset her!

Bou Sculpts

Worst rated Star Wars content. Even worst than the sequels. Let that sink in. Are we being picky, or are you being blind?

Bou Sculpts

She sounds like a normal person, pointing out obvious flaws and not saying "it's ok, it's Star Wars"

Bou Sculpts

Then why is Vader mad at Reva when she lets him go next episode? (saying this knowing Nat has already watched the next one)

DapperKnight

You should definitely watch clone wars especially if you wanna know more about Boba fett

Sean

Oh Nat, you aren't being too harsh. There are lots of critics who dragged this show through the coals - much like Darth did to Obi-wan here.

Marty McGee

Ha ha! Haven't watched the reaction yet, but the thumbnail says it all for this episode. Overall I love this show, but this episode has its major flaws. Can't wait to see what you think!

Saifu

Yep this show has so many issues. Such a damn shame since it's about Obi-wan and Vader. You'd think they'll put more care into something that important...

Troy

I definitely need to see that fan edit, because this whole series felt to me like a movie that they cannibalized and padded out to add another series to their Disney Plus roster.

Troy

Right? It's like: Vader: "YOU get a snapped neck, and YOU get a snapped neck, and Obi-Wan, you get... plot armor."

Troy

I think one of the reasons The Mandalorian succeeds in ways that Obi-Wan doesn't (and perhaps even can't [without better writers being hired, at least]), is that we've never heard of either Mando or The Child before, so both of their fates are unknown to us, hence the tension and concern throughout the show. Whereas we know how Ben ends up, we know how Leia ends up, and we know how Vader ends up. To me this is a recurring problem that too many prequels run into, is they try to raise false stakes, and then can't deliver on them. I'm actually surprised they burned Obi-Wan in fire, but I guess bacta tanks can do a lot more than I realized.

Florian Hoyer

telling anyone that he is with leia would like telling everyone the empire did kidnap her ... remember shes the daughter of a senator the empire i think dont want anyone know they are involved xD so no they would never name it xD

Florian Hoyer

jaeh but only some people are mad about obi wan xD alot people love the series like me :)

Brian Jones

Yeah, but you can write a good prequel. It's been done. The problem here was just horrible writing. Leia is a great example. Why would you write a 10 year old to be as witty and wise as she is in adulthood? Hell, if Disney really wanted to they could have done a spinoff of her teenage years, but now you've left zero room for character development. She's already grown up. Why would you write Obi-Wan completely against type? He's essentially a bumbling idiot throughout this entire show, and his starting point doesn't even make sense if he was actually planning on protecting Luke. He buried his lightsabers and cut himself off from the force. It's just nonsensical. Same for Reva. She's poorly used and developed throughout the show and is just relegated to being a plot device more than anything. The primary culprit for all of these issues is the writing. Granted, there are countless other issues with the show, but the writing takes the cake for being the most egregious.

Roook

I've pretty much enjoyed all of the Disney+ Star Wars stuff so far. But I bailed on this after the first episode. Partially because of all the issues already mentioned but also because I don't feel like I need to see it to understand later stuff. But much like Rise of Skywalker and Dark Phoenix I think I can get through it on a watch along. I don't know why they have so many scenes with this kid running.

Daniel Molina

I feel like the biggest issue with this show for me was the lack of Star Wars like music. Kevin Kiner did such an amazing job remixing old Star Wars themes in Clone Wars & Rebels that elevated those shows, especially when legacy characters show up. This show was severely lacking that. Idk bout everyone else but when I see Vader, its just not the same without some version of the imperial march, battle of the heroes, anakins dark deeds…idk man something 😭

Darryl Low

There aren't any moderators for Patreon.

Nic Benham

So vader could absolutley have gotten obi through the flames, but i read his stillness as a calculating rage. In his mind this (obi's punishment) has only just begun

Endling_king

"vader snaps Obi-Wan's neck" .... well there goes the rest of the start wars movies. people cant just take the show for what it is and also realized that yes, because it takes place between movies that have already been made. certain things are not going to happen. Kenobi is not going to die, neither is Leia, OR luke or Owen and Beru. that doesnt mean they cant write a story that doesnt include that happening. this toxic fandom needs to chill the hell out and either enjoy the show for what it is, or dislike it and not watch it.

Endling_king

and here i thought i was going to be able to avoid the toxic fandom with these reactions. i guess they will take anything they can to yell about how much they hate the show and how much it sucks, and to make sure everyone knows it. and to belittle those who actually enjoy it.

Trish Murphy

I agree completely but I do think it gets better

FearTheTREMOR

Anakin and Vader are two different people just so you know. Yes they are the same body, but Anakin is dead. Vader is the monster that was made from his rage. Anakin wasn't far gone at all. Yes he made his choices, but plenty of people share the blame for his fall and the rise of the Empire. Obi Wan for honestly not being the best mentor. Qui Gon should've lived to train him, Obi Wan was still too young to take on another apprentice. But really the Jedi as a whole are to blame. They became so involved in the politics and the war, they literally couldn't tell that there was a Sith Lord right in front of them. Plus, their flawed dogma of no connection. Even Qui Gon himself didn't follow the Jedi rules. Obi Wan did too much. They became too arrogant, which is ironic because Anakin in his younger years was the same. Not to mention Anakin being groomed from childhood by Palpatine himself. Thats hard to get out of, trusting a literal predator, because he gave him the trust and admiration that the Jedi didn't. Blame goes all around for the birth of Darth Vader.

Myles Away

"That was a little too easy" ... this entire show is cheap conveniences.

Myles Away

Anakin trusted a predator that told him in so many word "Oh that thing I promised you about fixing death ... I can't do that. But if we try really hard I bet we can!" .... and still goes along with him? Worst scripts ever.

FearTheTREMOR

Scripts aren't the point. But again, you must not know what grooming is. Youre liable to trust the people who groom you, especially since it was from his childhood. And..... he was desperate.

Myles Away

Scripts are the point. The prequels, the sequels, and most of these series are terribly written.

FearTheTREMOR

Not the point I was making. It's about the story, what happened. The message is still clear, despite how it was written

Daniel Vezina

on the same level of mediocrity.

Daniel Vezina

When the reactor is pointing out the dumb shit, maybe it's the show that as problem.

Colter

I’m not wearing a shirt…

Marty McGee

I don't think you're being too harsh. Yeah the first 3 episodes and to some extent the 4th have way too many plot conveniences and some otherwise poor writing choices. Vader would have never let Obi Wan get away. It does get better in my opinion though. It's a shame that it starts so poorly and doesn't find its stride until the last third of the series. Not saying that all of the first 2/3 is bad. The acting is still very strong. Ewan shines even with some questionable writing. I also like the little girl playing Leia and Kumail Nanjiani's character as well.

Banana Hammocks

sadly this show is i think the worst quality writing ive seen, its rough

George Roybal

It's easy to be critical before watching the whole season. Comparing it to the Mandalorian isn't a fair comparison. This show was 10 years after episode 3. The Mandalorion was after episode 6.

George Roybal

You have to view it as like after 3 before 4. The last 3 episodes will change your view of this show.

Daniel Vezina

Reva is kind of unhinged, yeah right. I got flag by YouTube for saying she was a psychopath. They're powerful when they need to be, and they're not when is convenient. Nat we stuck with you, we don't care about technology. It's your opinion that matter, I do need a hair cut too. Maybe not a reaction, but in your spare time, you should watch the Clone Wars, and Rebels. If he knows what she seek, should he know that she know who he is ???? Glad you notice the "Landscape" sometime it works, sometime it doesn't. They "know" where the Grand Inquisitor is. Would that ruining it, yeah it did. Not only they could of get around, they could have gone over. That how stupid that was. Leia and droids, 1 of the few thumbs up. They cram Leia backstory in a Obi-Wan show... "I mean, his Darth Vader, could he do something" my point exactly. Things that should not be happening. Yeah, barely an inconvenience ,no problem at all.

Javi

You’re not alone. Some things feel real childish to me and too easy but I guess one could argue that’s what Star Wars has always been.

Thomas Richter

for me this is the weakest show so far. Makes no sense to me.

Thomas Richter

Nat: "Grab a drink, grab a snek, and let's get into Obi-wan!" Obi-Wan: "Hello there!"

Jenny Tolls

I could've worn she mentioned something before about how she has someone looking at comments for her. Maybe she stopped? Idk

Thomas Richter

You should react to Obi-wan pitch meeting after watching the show. Also, Mandalorian season 3 is good.

Brian Jones

@Endling_king - "this toxic fandom needs to chill the hell out and either enjoy the show for what it is, or dislike it and not watch it. " Quite the contrary. The whole "It's Star Wars so let's forgive everything regardless of how bad it is" crowd, needs to stop with the "toxic", or "haters", or "racists", or whatever slur they decide to smear people with simply because we didn't like a show. And for glaringly obvious reasons mind you. The writing was pathetically bad to the point of Disney not even understanding the core principals of the characters. So is Nat now "toxic" as well? Don't you see how ridiculous this mindset is?🙄🤦

Brian Jones

I would say the last three episodes are equally as bad if not worse than the first three.

Bou Sculpts

Last episode saves the day. Not many flaws there, but compared to the previous 3-4 episodes, it's a delight. Reva's part though... well, you know.

Ryan

Yeah I didn’t make it past episode 2 on this one. I’ve decided just to check out on all Star Wars related stuff for a few years, I want to love it but I just don’t seem to anymore.

Brian Jones

@Bou _ - I would strongly disagree, but I'm unfortunately unable to say why due to some pretty big spoilers. But we will get there eventually.🤷

Brian Jones

@Myles Away - I would tend to agree. Star Wars has always been written haphazardly. But this show takes it to an all new low. Thankfully, with the OT, you had different directors on board to shape and mold it a bit, and different screenwriters to shape George's original stories. Left to his own devices on the prequels, and surrounded by "yes" men, even Lucas wasn't feeling too good about the way the prequels turned out when screening them. But at least they told a semi-cohesive story. The sequels were a completely jumbled mess with ZERO planning and horrible execution, with a really clumsy course correction thrown in for the finale. In Disney's rush for the almighty dollar, they lost sight of bothering to take the time to formulate a strong plan. Part of that is on Kathleen Kennedy, and part of that is on the company. Hopefully at some point, someone will have the bright idea of sitting down and writing a strong Star Wars story completely unrelated to the legacy characters, then rewriting it, then revising it, and then having a few really good screenwriters take it to script, all LONG before it's rushed into production and spat out at the cinema. One could only hope. But it's in the hands of Disney now, and they have essentially become nothing more than a manufacturing plant with very little to no care for quality. The same is happening with the Marvel franchise now as well, and it's why they are starting to see diminishing returns.

Brian Jones

Eventually, when the time comes that the creators of it love it again, that love will be reflected in the work. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that's going to be anytime soon, but I sincerely hope I'm wrong.

Martin7777

Have you heard of a guy called Dave Filoni?

Richard Church

Because even as he let Obi-Wan escape, Obi-Wan broke into the headquarters of the Inquisitors and escaped under their watch. He would have been fine to have had Obi-Wan captured there Nd tortured immediately, but to his knowledge Reva failed again to capture him in their own home. It just turned out lucky for them both his escape was part of her larger plan to get him and the other leaders in the path, enabling her to get even closer to Vader. And also remember, Vader has executed people for far less than Reva's potential mistake here!

Ryan

Yes

Brian Jones

@Martin - Yes, and he's not the Lord and Savior you're looking for.

Brian Jones

And then punish your inquisitor for letting him go? Oh yeah, that makes total sense.🙄

Degenerick

he’s a sith lord. he can choose to punish his subordinates whenever he feels like it. it doesnt have to make sense

Richard

Just listening to you make the comments about how mediocre the show is. You have to be careful. If the Disney stans hear that they’ll call you a bigoted right-wing WWII bad guy. I wish I were kidding but I’m not. I’m a lifelong Star Wars fan, but I will be critical when it deserves it and have been called all kinds of things. Even got kicked out of a Star Wars Facebook group for “hate speech” because I said Rise of Skywalker was poorly written. When people talk about toxic fandom, that’s where it’s at!

Brian Jones

"it doesnt have to make sense" ^^Probably the words most often spoken in the writers room for this dumpster fire of a show.😂

Brian Jones

Anytime the words "toxic", "hater", "sexist", or "racist" (or any other "phobe" or "ist" for that matter) are uttered in relation to the criticizing of a film or show, you immediately know you can tune that person out. It simply means they have no defense for the actual problems with the film or show, and are using those smears to deflect from having to defend the indefensible.

Anomaly

There's a huge difference between saying a show is poorly written vs being racist/sexist, and the vast majority of people complaining about this show have been very transparently racist/sexist by calling out very specifically Reva and Leia and suspiciously nothing else, rather than pointing out critiques of the script as a whole. Also, people tend to forget that Star Wars is mainly marketed towards children, and it's going to have exactly that quality to it. You ain't going to get oscar worthy material out of dumbass shite like Star Wars

Anomaly

Ya Star Wars has always been childish and there's nothing wrong with that at all. It's a fun amusement park ride and that's all we can ask from it IMO

Brian Jones

@Anomaly - "the vast majority of people complaining about this show have been very transparently racist/sexist" That's simply a bullshit claim. Disney could only produce a tiny handful of comments that were remotely "racist" or "sexist" (less than 10 the last time I saw any real evidence) out of the literal hundreds of thousands (if not millions at this point) of comments criticizing this show across social media. A tiny fraction, of a fraction, of a fraction, of a fraction of examples. And it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if those were nothing but kids trying desperately to be edgy on social media. Hell, one wouldn't even have to be conspiracy minded to think Disney manufactured the whole thing just to deflect from the inevitable blowback because they already knew they had a complete dumpster fire on their hands. God knows they've done it before. It's becoming a trend now with Star Wars, Marvel, and even their live action remakes. Cry "ist" or "phobe", have it amplified throughout the print and online media to cover for your subpar product. Conveniently blame the fans for your own failings. It's certainly a common pattern. Sadly, it's also becoming this sad and hollow mantra for people attempting to defend said films and shows from valid criticism, all due to some crazy misplaced loyalty to an IP. But you can only cry wolf (or whatever "phobe" or "ism") so many times before even the most casual of fans notices it's a bullshit deflection. And people are noticing it more and more. "Also, people tend to forget that Star Wars is mainly marketed towards children" No one was saying that back in the days of the OT. Parents were enjoying those films along WITH their children. In fact, that tired line didn't even come about until the first of the prequels, and mainly in defense of Jar Jar and Phantom Menace. Star Wars was at it's best when it catered to ALL age groups. To adults and children alike. Many of the mainstream sci-fi and action films of the 70's and 80's didn't coddle children. They could have adult themes and still have content for kids to sell lunchboxes as well. Not to mention having pretty solid writing and original ideas. Something sorely lacking in big budget cinema these days. But all that aside, this show wasn't catering to kids, it was catering to the brainless.

Nathan Steele

Imagine hating something so much that you hand-wave away racism and sexism, invent conspiracy theories to make yourself feel better, and feel so superior that you honestly think you can say that people who like new SW content "brainless". Its almost like you were probably pretty young when you saw the Original SW trilogy and it landed for you exactly as intended and then you got older and everything in the last 20 years has seemed for younger audiences. Wild how time works. Also, the idea that A New Hope had some incredibly deep, adult themes and meanings vs say what Obi Wan goes through in this series is pretty laughable, Ep 4 is as cookie cutter of a hero's journey as they come

Brian Jones

@Nathan Steele - "hand-wave away racism and sexism" Imagine being so incapable of actually discussing the issue that you feel the need to completely misrepresent my position. It would be absolutely hilarious if it wasn't a self fulfilling prophecy described in my previous comment. I most certainly didn't "hand-wave" anything away. What I said was that it wasn't the "vast majority" of the people making the complaints, and that Disney only being able to produce an extremely paltry amount of examples was suspect as hell. Especially considering their long record of using such excuses to cover for the worst of their work.🤦 "and feel so superior that you honestly think you can say that people who like new SW content "brainless"." I said no such thing. What I said was that was what Disney was catering to. Which is certainly the case considering the laughably braindead writing on this show. I strongly suggest you work on your reading comprehension skills. But you do have the gift of building strawmen in spades.🤦 "Its almost like you were probably pretty young when you saw the Original SW trilogy and it landed for you exactly as intended" As it did for the adults of the era, as it was a direct homage to the weekly serials of old. As was Indiana Jones. Hence the adult appeal. Do tell Nathan, would you call ripping the heart out of someone's chest kid friendly? How about completely dismembering them with a lightsaber and setting them on fire? Or even just chopping their hand off.🤦 "Also, the idea that A New Hope had some incredibly deep, adult themes " +2 for the strawmen as that statement wasn't in reference to ANH directly. You really do have a gift Nathan. Although do tell, did you think the charred and crispy remains of Luke's aunt and uncle was kid friendly for 1977? How about Han straight up murdering Greedo or Obi-Wan leaving a bloody arm on the floor of the cantina? But I digress. It seems the only way you're remotely capable of a rebuttal to anything is to build your strawman and then make an argument against your manufactured grievance. Why is it people like yourself are so prone to resort to hyperbole, mistruths, misrepresentation, and outright lying when you feel threatened? Have you ever bothered to ask yourself that? I highly recommend you try re-reading my previous post as you seem to have missed quite a bit of the details.🤦

Book of boba fett is not optional if you have plans to continue the Mandalorian season 3.

Banana Hammocks

i agree i really dislike this show as someone who really wanted to love the show

MightyHobo

I wish people cared about the environment the way nerds cared about being right in a discussion about space wizards.

Jules 4 Fools

The Book of Boba Fett might as well be The Mandalorian Season 3 all things considered 😂😂😂

Marcus Powell

Wow. Nat scorched Kenobi. Unfortunately, that was very much in line with many complaints the series had from fans. I hope the show picks up for you Nat.

Michael Rockenfelder

Somehow i very much doubt you got kicked out *just* for saying it was poorly written.

Michael Rockenfelder

@Brian Jones and you used yourself as a perfect example of a "Phobe" or "ist". Always love it when you Disney Era haters tell on yourselves so easily.

Michael Rockenfelder

@James Zagame Except it isn't bad when you don't have bullshit expectations.

Michael Rockenfelder

@ Bou_ No, OP had it right, thats all so called "fans" do, nitpick. No matter if its the same kind of stuff that happens in the OT. The only film that didnt have nitpicking when it came out was the very 1st film. Then people decided they knew better when they very clearly don't.

Michael Rockenfelder

@Brian Jones Disney understands these characters FAR more than toxic clowns like you ever will. Funny how it's only the shows/movies that have female or POC leads that you call bad writing. Careful, you could end up saying the quiet part out loud.

Michael Rockenfelder

@Brian Jones you need to get over that the majority of people actually like this show. Just admit you wanted flashbacks and cameos and move on.

Michael Rockenfelder

Good. If you don't have any more interest, LEAVE. Us fans don't need your bullshit negativity and toxic nonsense telling us we're wrong for liking it.

JonBlake

Right back at you buddy 🖕🏻 Don’t get me started

Josh Wilson

Anikans overconfidence is his biggest flaw. thats why he let Obi-Wan go because in his head he knows he will get Kenobi.

Tomas

I mean, in a sense OT Star Wars is childish, because the themes are kind of simple and it's fantasy I guess? Would however argue that it is quite different from what this show has offered. Anyone can see that from the teletubbies-esque chasing of a slow child by supposed-to-be serious adults to Vaders bumbling about like a confused abusive uncle - among other things - makes this show seem distinctly made for children - even though just some editing could probably make it seem less so.

I’m not wearing a shirt. I guess she’s not talking to me.
